Skilled Handyman is a professional, safe and reliable domestic and commercial property maintenance service with head office in Gerrards Cross and Branch Offices in Chesham, Maidenhead, Henley On Thames, Windsor, Weybridge, Reading and Bracknell. We have a variety of tradesmen that are skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation repairs, and other handyman tasks.

We provide a “One Call Does It All” service; we handle large and small property maintenance and refurbishment requirements. Our technicians are also NICEIC and GAS safe registered. Our locally employed tradesmen and staff serve both businesses and residential in the local community. They are supported by our customer services department which interfaces with the clients. In summary our tradesmen are:

• Multi Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrics and handyman tasks
• Fully trained and qualified Gas Safe & NICEIC (National Inspection Council For Electrical Installation Contracting) registered
• CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked (enhanced)
• Fully insured
• Their work is fully guaranteed for six months
• They are supported by our Customer services department
• They wear shoe gloves when they enter your premises and clean and vacuum after the job is completed
• They are happy to help.

A sample of clients who we are providing the service to is Mattel, Pharmalink Consulting, Investmaintain, Anadarko Oil, Dentsply Limited, Childcare4U, Westwood Farm Infant school, Caversham Preparatory School, HRP Limited, Housing Interaction Trust, Way In, Loco Communications Limited, Dimensions and many commercial property management agents and landlords.

I would appreciate if you could consider us for your property maintenance needs whether large or small as we are able to respond quickly and carry out multiple jobs within the agreed time scales therefore you do not need to call different tradesmen for different jobs. We have no call out or travel charges. We only charge for the time our tradesmen work on hourly basis.

Good Service

Our handyman arrived on time and seems to have done a good job (hard to be sure until it rains again as he was mending a leak). He was polite and very pleasant to deal with. He did have to go and buy materials which added to the time, so if you know what materials are needed I'd suggest buying them in advance. Based on today's visit I would certainly use this service again.

Exceptional customer service .

Exceptional customer service .
We received confirmation of our booking within half an hour of having spoken to the company . The full name of the person being sent out was given, ( Mr James Townsley). We had a call to let us know that James was a little delayed due to traffic , well before the time he was booked for . He was courteous , friendly and handled the jobs expeditiously , and did a superb job.
This company can teach others about customer service .

Excellent service

Skilled Handyman Services provided a high standard of work which was priced at a very reasonable hourly rate. James quickly identified what had caused our shower and kitchen tap to malfunction and provided the solution. We are very satisfied.

Fab service

James did a fantastic job - really worked hard and got everything completed to a very high standard. He was really polite and helpful. Booking the work was easy and the office was very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Thanks very much

Great job from James

I would highly recommend James, who replaced our shower screen. He went above and beyond to help us and do a really great job and we are happy with the result.

My only criticism would be communication from the office, which wasn't great. I'm glad that we kept trying to get hold of them, though, as the job that was done was worth it.

Update: a little disappointed to have recommended this company to a relative only for him to be quoted an extra £10 per hour for the labour. I would be very careful on the admin side of things with this company, but am still happy with the work completed and the service of the handyman (James) himself.

This was the worst service ever

This was the worst service ever! I never thought it could have been so expensive and difficult to replace a simple socket.

Firstly, we had to book 5 times, because they kept forgetting to confirm and the technician did not show up on the agreed date.
Then, the ratings given via email were different from the ones told on the telephone.
Finally, the technician came on site without the materials needed for the work (socket), and charged us for the time spent to go and procure the socket: 70 mins!

Davide Pontoni enquired about our service via email dated 20 August 2017. Our customer services replied on 21 August 2017 explaining the service, qualifications for our technicians and rate charged.

The work which was stated as “replacing the socket in kitchen” was booked on 15 December 2017 and carried out on 13 January 2018. We have no record of the re scheduling the work 5 times which we would never do. The technician had a socket with him but was not aware that the socket to be replaced was oven socket and therefore needed to be fused which was behind the oven. The technician did go and get the fused socket.

Mr Ponting was charged at the rate quoted in our email dated 21 August 2017. I suggest he check the email and the invoice sent to him.

The handyman turned up on time and got…

The handyman turned up on time and got on with the work without any fuss. He finished the job in a reasonable time and was polite and respectful. The hourly rate is a bit high but worth it if you want the job done correctly and guaranteed if you want a firm completion date.

Boiler Malfunction

I had been without hot water and heating for the night and most of the morning on a very cold night in February due to boiler pressure problems - I was able to contact the help desk first thing in the morning and was happy to hold on the line whilst Gabriel speedily arranged a certified gas engineer to attend later that day at a mutually agreed time - Russ arrived on time - fixed the pressure problem and also checked the boiler to ensure that all was well and that the radiators came on and hot water was available - it was wonderful to feel warm again - I will certainly recommend Skilled Handyman Services

I booked a handy person to clear the gutters on my house. James was friendly, efficient and obliging. He found four blockages and cleared them out and flushed the down pipe to clear a stubborn blockage. Excellent work.

James, the handyman who visited today, was very professional and completed all that was needed very well. He explained what he had done and why he needed to address things in a particular way.

Andy in Customer Services kept me advised of James' arrival time and called afterwards to make sure that everything was okay which was really appreciated.

I'm very happy with the service provided by Skilled Handyman and thoroughly recommend them.

Terrible

Terrible. They came to fix my light, charged me £90. Did a terrible job and had to call them again to repair mess they had done. This was done but I was then charged £180 twice! I have contacted them to get my money back but have been ignored. Even worse, I am convinced they saw me as an ethnic minority and this gave them the courage to rip me off.

I have made complaints to Trading Standards and the Equalities and Human Rights Commission.

Look at their answer below. They admint they sent the wrong person, then admit they billed again for the repair to the wrong work done by skilledhandyman #1, then don't even bother explaining why they billed a third time!! Shocking!! I look forward to Trading Standards investigating them.

Good to see they consider themselves from the Equality Act too! icing on cake!

The client called our Customer Services to book our service. The job details were “light bulb holder to be replaced, light not working”. Our technician replaced the bulb holder but the light still not working. He traced the problem to be between the light and the consumer board, isolating the light switch. He was not qualified electrician therefore was not able to work on the consumer board as per regulations. He also carried out other work such as cut shelf to size, hang book shelves on the wall therefore it was not only the light as the client states. The work sheet stating number of hours worked was signed by the client and invoiced accordingly.

Our Customer Services agreed with the client to book the qualified electrician to resolve the problem with the light. The electrician was booked and he was able to resolve the problem. The electrical wires needed tracing for breakage and fault rectified. Again client signed the work sheet for hours worked and was invoiced accordingly.

Client’s statement that “I am convinced they saw me as an ethnic minority and this gave them the courage to rip me off” is insulting and prejudiced. We are not in business of ripping people off, we have been in business for over 6 years that comes from providing quality service, honouring the guaranty and respecting our clients whoever they are. We apply a standard rate for everyone; don’t negotiate just to get the business. We are a multi-national company and at present have English, Indian, Cuban, Polish and Portuguese staff working for us.

James got on with my list of jobs and I’m very happy with his work as the property had to be prepared quickly. The work was indoors and outdoors so required a range of skills. He’s polite, knowledgeable and tidied up after each job. Thanks James and Skilledhandyman
