The job was booked for Saturday at 10.00 am. Our policy is for our customer services to keep the client informed of any delays as these can happen due to traffic or job over running. If the job over runs our policy is to complete the job and not to withdraw the multi skilled technician or reschedule. But over the weekend and out of hours the multi skilled technician are in direct contact with the client. Our customer services spoke to the client on Saturday and were informed the appointment has been reschedule to 1.30 pm. The gas engineer was not able to attend the appointment because his van was involved in an very serious accident while he was on his way. In fact he ended up in the hospital and was not able to call the office to inform us what has happened. When we found out on Sunday, we contacted the client and informed him that we will try to reschedule another engineer but advised him he should also try another company to provide the service.

No show

I called them to fit our roman blinds. They booked me on for 9.30 on thursday, i called them to check at 9.40, they said he is going to be there in 10 mins, then it was 8 mins, at the end they recheduled it for 6pm. At 6pm they said that they would be running late and never showed up or called. I dont know about the quality of their service as they never showed up, or called to say they are not coming.. might be useful to avoid them

The client booked the service for 9.30 am. Our customer services informed the client that multi skilled technician is running late due to traffic (the appointment was in London W14). The client stated she has to leave by 10.30 am. She is very busy. We had no choice but to abandoned the appointment as the work would have taken more than half hour. The work was rescheduled to 6 pm as the last appointment of the day. The client also threatened the customer services that if the work was not done that day she give us bad reviews. For the last appointments we give 2 hours window because sometimes previous jobs can over run or there can be traffic delays. The technician has stated he was at client's property at 7.30 pm and rang the door bell and knocked on the door as he could see the lights on. The client did not answer the bell or open the door.

Amazing service

I called Skilled Handyman services on a Tuesday afternoon with a desperate need to have a window handle replaced in our bathroom the following day after which we were going away. An appointment was made for 4:00pm but the contractor arrived around 11:00am which was even better.
The contractor identified that he needed a part so went off to buy it. This is often an excuse to park up and sit round the corner to push the hours up but not in this case! the part was purchased and fitted still within the first hour. No payment was expected on the day and was subsequently invoiced with payment made by card a week after the work was completed. The cost was perhaps at the upper end of the scale for the work done but I was happy to pay the premium for such a prompt response and quality of work
The contractor was helpful an polite and the work of good quality.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Skilled Handyman Services and will certainly be keeping their number for future reference for those small jobs which inevitably come up from time to time

Not a professional Company

Not a professional Company - definitely would not recommend or use them again. The engineer was due to come out on 16 February but I received a phone call that day to say he was off sick and they would send an Engineer out the next day. I said that was fine. Paid for 1.5 hours - £135 to fix an intermittent problem with boiler - hot water kept going cold and boiler struggling to reach temperature. Engineer opened up the boiler and fired it up and then went out in his van for quarter of an hour talking on the phone. He then came back in and mucked around for some time with the boiler and I asked him if it could be air in the radiators as water had been drained out when adding the new radiators. He said he could hear air in the boiler but could not seem to get it out. He then phoned another Engineer to get advice. Was on the phone for quite some time on loud speaker and the Engineer on the end of the phone kept saying "If I was there I would be able to see what the problem was but I am not so can only give advice on what I think it could be". He guessed that because we had a couple of radiators added onto our system the boiler had gone into hibernation mode and was overworked but he could not confirm that as he was not there and the other Engineer did not know how to work out if the size of the boiler was correct for the output of the radiators. I did ask him to work it out but he changed the subject. He then cleaned out the Magnaclean and when he left the hot water was working (but bearing in mind the hot water was intermittent so did sometimes work). About an hour after he left the hot water went cold again. I was originally charged 2 hours for this job and nothing was achieved and the prognosis was incorrect that the boiler was overworked and had gone into hibernation. I complained and they reduced the charge to 1.5 hours but I still felt this was unfair as nothing had really been done in all this time except the cleaning of the magnaclean and a lot of time was spent on the phone to another Engineer. I complained to the manager by email on the 31st March but did not get any reply back until I received an automatic email chasing me for payment on the 24/05. I then contacted Nash the manager again and only got a reply back today - over 3 weeks later. Any professional Company that values Customer Service would have replied within a couple of days - not just ignored the email. I have paid the invoice but would not use them again. I would have expected the Engineer to have some sort of diagnostic equipment with them to find the fault and not to have spent nearly half an hour or more on the phone getting advice. We got some advice from a Local Engineer who felt it was probably air in the system and to try bleeding the radiators again - we did this and the problem has now rectified itself. The boiler was gurgling all the time and this has now stopped and the hot water is working. We were without hot water for weeks after Skilled Handyman had come round and they were not interested when I phoned and complained that we still had the problem. When I complained the second time I asked for the invoice to be reduced to 1 hour as I felt that was a fair reflection of the time spent actually on the boiler and not talking on the phone or sitting out in the van and also that the problem was not fixed . I thought this was a fair compromise. I was originally charged 2 hours but the time had just gone over the 1.5 hours mark so they round it up. The reduced it to 1.5 hours but I really think I should not be charged for time spent on the phone with another Engineer diagnosing on the end of the phone and in fact making a wrong diagnosis !!

Client booked our service to investigate and rectify the central heating system that was struggling to reach the required temperature. The gas engineer allocated was not unskilled, is in fact very experienced, been doing this type of work for over 20 years and is gas safe trained and registered. While on site he spoke to Boiler Manufacturer Specialist as the problem was very unusual. After discussion with the boiler manufacturer’s technical specialist, our gas engineer reached conclusion that there were too many radiators on the system therefore the boiler was over loaded not fit for purpose. The client was informed about the conclusion.

When the client booked the service she was informed that we charge by the hour which is also stated in our terms and conditions which we email to the clients with the booking confirmation.

The client refused to settle the invoice and threatened with the following:

1. Financial Ombudsman
2. Trading Standards
3. Small Claims Court
4. Bad Reviews

We always take on board clients concerns and as a gesture of goodwill reached comprise to settle the invoice. The client still wanted further reduction in the invoice which we refused.

** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! **

Please take your time to read all the bad reviews they have received on here because if I know it was going to happened to me I would not have booked them.

I initially put in a request for Skilled Handyman to do 4 tasks on my small rental one bedroom flat. They said they can do those jobs fine no problems. I specifically asked them over text messages 3 times how many hours I will need to book in for and they have avoided answering my question every time just so they can't state specific time frame in the contract. They turn up asking my tenant to signed the “Customer agreement to commence work prior to the expiry of the statutory fourteen day cancellation period” (on my behalf) which I did not authorised them to do so. All this means is that if I do not settle the invoice they sent they can go after the person who has signed it. Therefore, as a landlord you will end up paying for this anyway. The customer service team and the technician both have my number and nobody called me to ask for my permission regarding this paperwork. I found this to be very unprofessional.

I was shocked to received an invoice with amount of £425.88 for 3 out of the 4 jobs completed within a 4 hours time frame. Oh and by the way even if they can't fix the problem they will still charge you for it plus the parts they installed in your place even though you do not need it. I have no idea how this company have a high rating on Trustpilot. I have never written a review before in my life good or bad because I will usually let things go but I feel that they have taken advantages out of my situations just to make more money. The customer service team will obviously reply to this with their excuses but the best one for me was when I phone them up on the day asking who authorise them to work longer than I expected their representative "Nash" said, "I cannot comment". What a lovely professional company!!

We guarantee out work for six months and do our very to address our clients concerns. Ms Aree Chorsanthiah has been very reluctant to settle the full invoice giving the following reasons:

1. I only booked the technician for one hour
2. When I called customer services regarding Thermostat, Nash said no comment
3. I did not sign the 14 days cooling off pried the therefore contract is not valid

I will let the reader make his/her own mind by publishing the email that went between both parties.

Point 1 – Technician Booked for One Hour

Hi Aree

Regarding the one hour booking the chain of text is as follows:
3/5/17

Aree: Okay so I think it needs a bit of refill. Some of the grout have come off. Shall I book for an hour and see how it goes?

Aree: Or please recommend

Aree: Preferably if could please have someone on Friday morning

Nash: No problem we have availability for Friday morning 10.30 am. If it is suitable please send me your address details. I suggest you get as many jobs as possible done as the technician is already there and should be able to move job to job. Regards Nash, Skilled Handyman Services

From the above there is no indication of agreement for one hour service.
I would very much appreciate if you could settle the invoice is it is now overdue.
Kind regards
Nash Bhatti

Point 2 – Nash said no comments regarding the thermostat

Hi Aree

I have spoken to the technician who did the work for you. He said when he checked the thermostat, the transformer was gone. He bought the new thermostat and replaced it. The reason it is still not working is that it is not connected on the boiler side. He is not able to do this as you need boiler engineer to do it.

We are gas safe registered company, can provide gas safe registered engineers if you require it. The cost per hour for the gas engineer is £75.00 plus VAT.

Kind regards

Nash

Point 3 – Did not sign the 14 days cooling off waiver agreement

Dear Aree

Please see my reply below:

Kind regards
Nash Bhatti

Dear Nasheter Bhatti,

Aree - You assigned a worker to my flat without giving him the timing information which I have requested. When I spoke to you on 05/05/2017, the day the service has taken place regarding this issue your professional reply were "I cannot comment".

Nash – I did not say no comment. I said I will speak the technician and come back to you which I did. Please refer to your emails.

Aree - The above terms constitute an essential part of the contract and to date this has not been fulfilled. I am requesting your company to honour the contract within 14 days from the date of this email. Otherwise I will have no option but to cancel the contract without incurring penalties.

Nash – I do know what you talking about here, as you were not onsite, your representative the tenant signed the “Customer agreement to commence work prior to the expiry of the statutory fourteen day cancellation period”. Also please refer to our
terms and conditions which were emailed to you with confirmation of booking email.

Aree - Therefore, I would appreciate a revised invoice for job C1930 - J2247 due to your breach. This is to include the followings:
1. An hour worth of services (£65 + VAT)
Nash – Why should we invoice you for one hour.
2. Materials for the 3 jobs completed which were the grout, a new door bell and toilet flusher (costs + VAT)

Nash – All the materials bought are on site. The issue regarding the thermostat have addressed in my previous email.

Nash - It seems to me you are trying to get out of settling the invoice as initially you stated that you only agreed to one hour service which was proved incorrect in my previous email. The invoice stands and it needs to be settled in per our terms and conditions emailed to you and stated on the invoice.

Aree - I look forward to your response within the 14 day deadline in order to resolve this matter amicably.

Great all round service

Great company with excellent customer service from my first phone call to the service provided. The service provided was as promised, the handyman was professional and friendly and at no point did I experience any difficulties. In relation to price, I felt I got what I paid for. You have to pay for quality and that's exactly what I received. Will definitely use again.

An expensive and far from value for money or great customer service experience...

Skilled Handyman Services charge a much higher than normal hourly rate for what, in my experience, in practice and at best, can only be described as a below average standard skillset. On the plus side, and the reason I chose to go ahead, they were able to schedule someone the next day, the guy that came out arrived on time, was courteous and really did do his best to help - he was in fact able to advise on the TV set ups such that I do now at least know what could be wrong with them! However, two hours and a whole lot of money later and I'm still left feeling I'm no further forward with the rest and main reasons for my call out. In fact a friend fixed the pressure to the kitchen tap in less than 2 mins later that evening and I've since had someone else out who's advised the shower needs a new valve and the toilet flush needs just a tad more than adding caustic soda to remove the limescale (though to be fair it did need doing too, but it was THE most expensive bottle of caustic soda ever!). I was chased up to pay the invoice a couple of days later which I was asked and did pay over the phone with a promise my feedback would be escalated to 'management' and I'd get a call back the next day - it never came. Overall, a highly expensive, definitely not in any way value for money and a poor example of customer care experience - its when things don't go as they should that counts. I will NOT be using Skilled Handyman services again and will NOT be recommending them to my family or friends either.

We have interviewed the technician regarding the matter and he states that the shower was cleaned and the solution put down the toilet as requested and all was working fine when he left and the customer was happy.

We are always disappointed if a customer is dissatisfied about the service we provide. We only ever provide the highest skilled technicians who are fully capable of multiple skill sets.
The rate we charge per hour reflects this and we guarantee all works for 6 months, we always endeavour to rectify any works that was not to the standard the customer expects.
All feedback is valuable to us and we always take on board the comments from our customers to improve our service.

Lucas arrived on time

Lucas arrived on time, his estimated time for the job was spot-on. Cleared up after he had finished. One thing I noticed was he put on over-shoes to avoid bringing in dirt from outside as it was raining at the time, nice touch.

DO NOT TRUST

Do not book these guys unless you want your time wasted. They guarantee they will turn up and never do, say they will ring with an update and don't bother. This was my experience for an urgent job. I rang up at 7:30am, they promised they'd turn up and then let me know they wouldn't at 5:30pm when it was too late to book anyone else. Don't bother with them - call someone more professional who you can trust.

In response to the company below - what is stated is absolutely not true. When I called up in the morning to book the appointment, I was informed that mine would be the last appointment of the day. Having been told this I specifically asked "But he will definitely come today though won't he?" and the agent replied "oh yes he will definitely come today unless there is some sort of disaster". This is a word-perfect rendition of our conversation. I was definitely NOT told anything about perhaps cancelling should the technician be running behind schedule etc. I work full time, as I imagine a lot of people do, and so knowing this was the only day I would be able to ensure someone was at home I wanted to guarantee the appointment would take place on this day, not the next day. I would have booked someone else if I had indeed been told that perhaps the technician would not turn up. But I reiterate, I was absolutely not told this as claimed below. I was in fact assured "he will definitely come today" which was very dishonest and disappointing. When the technician rang late in the day to cancel, I expressed disappointment and asked him if he would please come the same day. He said he would ring back with an update, which he never did. This is the truth, I will leave it to other consumers to choose whom to believe. However I would strongly advise anyone who, like me, needs someone they can trust to turn up when they say they do, to book someone else. I did so the next day and fortunately I had a reliable experience from a reliable company.

We are sorry that Natasha felt this way and obviously this is not how we like to be portrait.

In response we feel this is misleading as in this instance the client called on the morning to see if they could secure an appointment for the same day which is usually quite hard for us to do as we are mostly fully booked on same day, however we do try and accommodate and explained that although the appointment had been booked it may not happen on this day if for any reason the technician was running over schedule that may incur for him to work over his hours as he can only legally work a certain amount of hours, which means there has to be a cut-off point. We do make customers aware of this and the fact that this was his last appointment.
Also we informed the client around 4.30pm that he will not be attending and offered an alternative appointment the following morning which was refused, we then went on the next morning to attempt to call to offer a Saturday appointment that would not incur our weekend premium rate which went unanswered.

We always appreciate our customers feedback and experience they shared with us and take this information away to always improve our service.
