What more do you need?

Have always used Sky since I got my previous car as they had the best price and the service has always been spot on (shout out to Luke!) can't complain again this year with another great price and quick and painless setting up!

Sky Insurance excellent company!

Insurance up for renewal with Sky. Great price, way cheaper than the competition but most importantly it was nice to deal with an insurance company that actually know what they're talking about. Spoke to a really nice fella called Luke....couldn't have asked for better customer service. Genuinely nice bloke.
I've been a customer of Sky for a few years now and I will most likely continue to be for many more!

I had a terrible experience from Sky…

My partner (45F yrld no convictions)had a terrible experience from Sky Insurance. She tried to get insurance for a 4lt v6 #210HP!!!!! mustang,
A standard golf GTi has more#

they took all her details then asked what she drove at the moment. She told them a ford focus. they then went on to ask her what cars she's previously owned. told them, then they asked if she'd ever been insured on a "high performance car" before. Answered yes on company insurance, given the fact she managed the largest hypercar hire company in the uk, she explained she'd driven many higher performance cars than a mustang. He then called her back and said because she drove a focus they couldn't insure her!!!! They wanted proof of her having insurance for a similar vehicle, told them it was company vehicles so they refused me insurance. Has anyone else been asked for proof of what theyve driven previously. feel totally discriminated against as a female driver!! Given that you can get a vw golf with more horse power than a V6 Mustang what is their problem. she has no offences, tickets outstanding, over 25yrs driving with no disqualifications, points, tickets etc.. Whats everyones thoughts???

We would like to provide some clarification on why we weren't able to offer a quotation. We are a broker and not an insurer. Therefore, we do not set the terms and criteria that must be met before a quote can be offered, the insurer does. It is our responsibility to ensure this criteria is met.

Some cars carry a criteria that the driver must be able to demonstrate that they have 'relevant experience'. This would be to provide proof in the form of insurance documentation that they have owned a similar car before, or even been named on a policy where the car was of a similar nature to the one to be insured. This is to establish that the driver has suitable driving history, which in turn reduces the likelihood of an accident. A car's grouping isn't purely based on performance, but a range of factors including how often those cars are involved in accidents and claims.

We always try and be as lenient as possible, and would have asked questions about provable driving experience during the initial call, but if this can't be provided, then we simply cannot offer a quote. It is important to note that this practise is not, in any way, unique to Sky Insurance, and that the decision to not offer a quotation is not at all influenced by the fact your partner is female.

10/10 service

I called Sky Insurance to get a quote for an additional vehicle for my policy. I spoke to Luke who was thorough and made sure I knew everything that I needed to know, but more importantly he spoke to me as a person, and wasn't just trying to process my quote etc as quickly as possible. He was very personable and for me is an asset to Sky Insurance. It is reassuring being insured by a company who are all car enthusiasts and happy to speak to you, have a friendly and good spirited chat and share car based stories. Very, very happy with the service. Whatever you're paying Luke, it isn't enough! Thanks Luke, I really appreciate your time on today's call.

After a long time on hold, got through to Luke, who I've spoken to on a few occasions before and I have to say he's doing a grand job, as it sounds like the ranks are a bit thin right now!

Sky insurance increasing prices of loyal customers.

Update :
Since the initial review below I had a phone call from sky insurance and they were friendly and professional Sam dropped the price this year which was kindly appreciated I will continue to use sky insurance and will up the stars from 2 to 4 stars thank you Sam and management.

Hi I have been a loyal customer of sky insurance for the last 3-4 years.
However this year I was given a renewal quote of £450 an increase of £50.
They never really budge on the price and increase every year without fail.
However this year I have had points removed from license so it’s all clear and I was told that they will reduce the price that they had increased due to the points once removed, clearly not the case.
Many car insurance company’s are supporting there loyal customers with a reduction in premium due to Coronavirus virus as we have been under government restrictions so not being able to use our cars, sky insurance seems to be doing the exact opposite and taking advantage of the situation by putting the prices up.
I was told there in house under writer is responsible for this decision.
Pls feel free to shares this on on social media.

Big company’s taking advantage of there loyal customers in a pandemic .

Second year of modified insurance

Just going into my second year of insurance with Sky with a modified car. Customer service is excellent and knowledgeable (with a special mention for Luke) and the price is extremely competitive. Very happy with the service.

Amazing company!!
Only place I'd ever insure a modified car with, just took out an insurance policy for my Evo, spoke with Luke and he was very polite and helpful.

Beat my renewal quote

Beat my renewal quote with a lower excess. Very happy with the level of customer service very helpful and clearly knows about cars unlike other brokers also they don't make you feel like you have done something terrible my modifying your car which I always seem to feel with other insurers. First policy so far so good

my 3rd and Final Review of Sky…

my 3rd and Final Review of Sky Insurance.

in less than a year I've now gone from 4 Policy's in our household to ZERO by the end of my current policy which is due in a couple of weeks, I have now gone with a competitor / different Broker for one vehicle and whom I will also be using come 2 weeks time with the same underwriters under the same scheme's for the other. Both vehicles in question are what Sky claim to be specialists in insuring.
I am now in my 40's, I believe I took out my first Policy with Sky Insurance in 2006 on an XR3i after previously having Policys with similar brokers who are equally if not more so well known, and they were always my first choice since then with several policy's for numerous cars over the years - alas that will be no more, there is only so much BS you can use the "we are only a Broker" card for !
your "Motto" of Best Price, Best Policy, Best Service is no longer true I'm afraid when clearly your competitors can offer a Better Policy at a Better Price with a Better Service and without the excuses or hiding behind the "just a Broker" card.

I'll say it again, different broker, same underwriter, same policy under the same scheme. Price is the same as I paid last year with Sky

Whether anyone at Sky actually cares, today one of your LOYAL long term customers has gone from being one of your biggest advocates with a featured car on your website to now having the mindset of "yeah I'd try someone else first" and will happily encourage others to do the same, that sadly speaks volumes don't you think......

to add insult to injury, I am not expecting this to end smoothly either after my conversation with Caleb today, the policy/vehicle that I am referring to was originally insured from August 2016 and renewed each year since, this vehicles renewal is due in August 2020, by my maths, that is 4 years No Claims on this policy on its own (baring in mind seperate policys on seperate vehicles with their own NCD's) but yet I was today told its only 3..... even I dont need a calculator but lets see what happens in a few weeks time and see if Caleb has sent the email to whom he said he needed to send an email to in order to wrap this up :)

Be prepared to be hung up on..

I was kept waiting on their automated call holding software for 25 minutes until my call was picked up and then disengaged as the agent no doubt wanted to get home for their tea as we reached 5.00pm. Unfortunately they are only open during business hours (no good for out of hours claims). Make sure you have tome to wait for an agent to pick up your call and you have plenty of spare time during the day. Good luck!

We can say, with some certainty, that the phone was not disconnected intentionally as our call information shows that you came through to an agent who was already on the phone. It appears to be a rare technical error. We apologise for the inconvenience nonetheless, and understand that one of our agents did attempt to get in touch with you the following morning.

As a side note, our claims lines are open 24hrs a day.

Cheap car insurance. Bad customer service experience.

Obviously there are plenty of glowing reviews on here, but I can only comment on my experience, and the fact that I feel compelled to go on here and write a review speaks volumes of my customer experience with Sky Insurance.

Firstly, credit where credit is due. I got a really competitive price for the temporary car insurance I needed (hence the two stars and not one). All good on that front.

Unfortunately, when I actually needed to communicate with them to ask a simple question, the response was pretty rude and unhelpful. When I asked for my query to be escalated, I was told “there’s no one to escalate to as I’m the Manager of the department”. And “this isn’t normally an issue for other customers”. By the way, I was simply asking for a receipt for my payment as this cost needs to come from my Mother’s estate (she passed away recently).

Not impressed, however, I’m sure it was bad luck and I just drew the short straw. Perhaps the “Manager” I dealt with was not a good barometer for their culture or behaviours as a business. Having said that, I wouldn’t use them again on principle. In future, I would rather pay a couple of pounds a month more and use someone else.
