So Happy With This Bank!

This bank has been perfect for my needs. I'm so glad they took the time to build this bank and fill the void out there for small businesses like mine.
Thank you!

SBB-Great bank to work with

Working with the SBB has been simple with minimal hassle. They keep costs down which is key for a small start-up. Their support allows the little guy to compete and win with the big guys. Thank you SBB.

Not for me

I tried different bank accounts for my small business. None of them worked as good as personal accounts- even with the same bank. I found the website for Small Business Bank to be a bit slow and cumbersome. I began to get used to it, but in the end I realized I needed to go with a local bank.

Great Bank

Excellent bank. They have all of the options available for online banking and their pricing is lower than other banks. They also have great customer service.

Great small bank for small businesses

SBB is NOT a full featured fancy bank - so don't expect that. BUT what it is, is perfect for a small business. It has the basics - online, app, and the account services you need. We would highly recommend it.

Impossible to Access Online

We tried to use Small Business Bank for an early stage startup. It worked fine until we brought in an accountant who needed to have access to the account. Unfortunately, at that point, everything started to break. Each time he tried to get into the account, there was a new challenge question. Finally, the account even got locked out by even the account owner. We had to move our funds just to be able to do routine banking transactions. Not a great experience.

Great bank account with unfortunate issue

This is an incredible affordable bank account for a small business. I shopped around before signing up and this is by far the most inexpensive way for a business to open a checking account with very minimal fees. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to close my account because there is a problem with auto import on every financial site I access. I was told they're aware of the problem and it will be fixed, but it's been months and it's become too much work to import when all others can do it automatically. If they fix this problem, I'd happily give 5 stars. My only other suggestion would be to allow transferring between accounts, which may be possible, but I couldn't easily figure it out.

Good customer service but terrible UI

The people who work at SBB are a pleasure to work with, I wish I could say the same for their web interface. It's is easily one of the worst interfaces for banking I've ever used.

Basic information is hidden under menus within menus and it's difficult to figure out where you need to go to accomplish anything more then checking your balance. When you do navigate the maze like UX you will hit slow performance behind every single action. In short the web interface they have is unpleasant to use.

Luckily in my case my needs are extremely simple for my account with them. If I was more dependent on my account I would most likely have to switch to another bank to get away from their web interface.

They also don't sync well with Mint and their extra security layer provides questionable value. I don't understand why more banks don't support two factor auth.

They solicited this review from me via email so hopefully that means they are looking to improve.

Excellent Online Business Bank

I originally posted this elsewhere on a non-TrustPilot site, but the review was marked as 'Not Recommended' for some reason.

Here it is again and hopefully it gets read this time:

"Note: this review only details my experiences upon discovering, applying, and my first thoughts about SBB's online interface.

I discovered SmallBusinessBank (SBB) from a blog entry that I'm having difficulty finding now. It was by a small business owner who was frustrated with brick-and-mortar banks. His goal was to open an account at an online-only bank and reviewed a few such banks including SBB. His findings were ho-hum, but I found it commendable that the owner/CEO of SBB took time to write out a pretty detailed comment that was frank on the issues they need to improve upon. This along with an easy-to-use website intrigued me and I decided to open an account for my small business.

The application process itself is incredibly easy and I was actually surprised at how quickly it took from the time I hit 'submit' to the time my account was opened: a couple of days. Big banks may sometimes take weeks or longer. During the application process I was instructed to call SBB to go over some information on the phone and the wait time to talk with someone was essentially 0 minutes. This was no fluke as I received a call from them later about initial deposit instructions that I missed and when I called back the wait time was again non-existent. Thus, for phone support, I have been very happy so far with SBB.

The initial deposit can be done via credit card which is a major plus. Bank transfers are great, but sometimes can take time. What's more, credit card = mileage so again no complaints there.

SBB's online banking site is a bit dated, but I do not view this as a negative. All the features promised are there and the basic design of the page is great as it won't slow down any computer (which can't be said for other banks' online banking sites). Some users may want a snazzy design, but I come from the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" line of thought.

I also tested their Android app and it also is simple, but has all the basic banking tools you want plus remote deposit. I was looking forward to testing out the remote check deposit via the application, but you first have to submit an application (and 'submit' here means simply typing out your username and then waiting for them to approve it).

I would say as an initial user what I feel SBB is missing and I'd love to see in the future are:

*Ability to send wires. Sometimes BillPay isn't enough and there are times when bank wires are a better option. (UPDATE early 2017: you can now send wires online (domestic only) via SBB. A fantastic feature to have!)
*Tighter security online such as 2-factor auth.

Lastly, I notice a lot of reviews are about people complaining about check hold times, but you must realize checks are essentially IOU's. If SBB wants to wait 10 days or more for a check to truly clear, then so be it. It's a risk on the bank's end and if having the money sooner is imperative for you, it'd be best to instruct your customers to use a more modern form of payment."
