I took out a Home Emergency Essentials contract for an annual premium of £189. Approximately 10 months in to the life of the policy I had a plumbing emergency whereby water was flowing from a faulty radiator valve. I called the emergency claim line - nothing, no response in over an hour of holding on. I ended up getting the services of a plumber on call-out.
I complained; the complaint was ignored, twice. I wrote to the Financial Conduct Authority who looked into it but said they could not act as Smart Cover are not regulated by the FCA. So that was a complete waste of £189. Avoid at all costs.
My problem was quickly fixed with an engineer coming out within a few days.
Katherine Hayes was very punctual in dealing with my claim.

I've been having my boiler serviced annually through Smart Cover and have always been satisfied with the process and service. However this year the service was completed in 10 minutes. Everything was ticked off as working on the sheet but I find it difficult to believe a thorough service can be carried out by 2 engineers in 10 minutes.

We signed up with smart cover for boiler, plumbing &electrical cover & we contacted them this morning as we had an issue, Smart Cover informed us that we have been migrated to Home Tree, we contacted home tree, they informed us that we are only covered for emergency cover only!!! That is not we signed up for never again can use smart cover!!!! Not recommending Smart Cover!!!

Handled promptly and efficiently and were adaptable to suggestions.
My dealings were with Katherine Hayes who kept me informed and updated me on progress regularly, by email and by phone. When I recommended an alternative arrangement she was happy to suggest this to the insurer and this was acceptable to them.

Smart Cover rang me when they said they would (this was to arrange a date for a boiler service), but later were unexpectedly able to fit is in earlier, due to a cancellation. Everyone, including the claims handler Katherine Hayes, was very professional and polite.

Boiler service was arranged with ease and promptly.
On the day of the service the engineer turned up within the given time slot. He carried out the works in a very friendly manner and was extremely helpful with a problem that I had with a radiator.
