Sprai foam insulation

Avoid at all costs. My wife and i both in our seventies were commed into agreeing to have this installed I'm our house by a smart salesman who said that we would save hundreds on heating our home and we would be entitled to a government grant which he would apply for on our behalf. The company were in within two days having given them a deposit of £500+.
What he didn't tell us that people are being refused mortgages and can't sell their house. Trading standards have advised that this is scan. We paid out over 4k and another company from Coatbridge Roofing Advidory Service came in and said that the insulation had to come out at a cosy of over £6.
I asked them to give me a written report but they refuse to answer my request.
I have spent six weeks taking the insulation out myself. It is one of the worst experiences of my life due to the insulation blocking all the vents.
Don't let anyone try to convince you to install this. I am currently going down the road of trying to get some of my money back via the Consumer Act 75 since we paid it on our credit card.
Something should be done to stop this company from missing selling.
Incidentally our heating costs dud not come down and we have noticed no difference in the heat in the house.
It now makes sense that if vents are covered up there is a serious risk of dampness on years to come and surveyors cannot get access ti see where there could be dampness.

Cowboys, top to bottom.

if we can give these conmen a negative score we would. please please please everyone or anyone who may be in a negotiation to insulate your loft with these conmen pull out of any agreement immediately. our family’s installation was incorrectly installed, a few weeks later we received a call out of the blue to advise that the guy on the phone was a qualified surveyor who had been given our info, we assume from the cowboy installers. he said he’d visit give us a quote to right the wrongs. when he arrived he said if we give him 500 cash he’d clear the vents in the roof, we have no roof vents. both the installers and the “ surveyor “ are part of the same bunch of crooks.

stay clear of this company please.

Stay away from these *****

Stay away from these *****. My father has started legal proceedings. Over £6000 to put the stuff in. Now going to cost several thousand more to take it out. Surveyor said he can’t sell his home with the stuff in. It goes against building regulations. They are targeting old people for their sales which makes this worse. Shocking. They will need to explain to a judge. Good luck lads!

I was advised to get foam insulation installed. I've been contacted by a secondary party that I've been miss sold the product and that the product wasn't designed for the loft as the roof didn't have the necessary ventilation needed. I'm now several thousands of pounds out of pocket and several more to have it fixed. The initial work was carried out on the 11/09/22

STAY WELL AWAY

I got a call from a woman who said I had spoken to a colleague of hers with interest in a survey in my loft, (i hadn’t spoke to anyone ) then a lady from head office called me & said the surveyor had another appointment in my street & could fit me in at 1.30pm I thought just go for it seen he’s in my street.
.The surveyor Ewan arrived telling me he had dove over an hour to get to me I mentioned my neighbour & he said oh she cancelled !!!! Ewan surveyed our loft yesterday & told us we had black mould white mould & my floor insulation was reading dampness of 23.5 . My loft is completely dry . We were then quoted £7000 to spray our loft when we refused he phoned his manager & the price came down to £2839 how do they manage that ???
My son in law has the same damp meter as was used yesterday & he’s going to test it for us
Stay well away from this company

DO NOT TRUST THEM

I was convinced to have spray foam insulation installed. Now I need to get a surveyor to assess this as may not be able to get insurance or re-mortgage. Was contacted by another company 'Roofing Advisory Service' who were offering a free assessment. Fairly certain both companies are con artists and possibly linked. Feel was mis-sold the product and now I will have to pay to have it assessed by a surveyor and probably to get it removed if I want valid insurance/to sell my house. Do not trust these people. Trading standards involved.

Avoid

Calum did our survey and advised us that we had some damp in our attic as we were getting our house ready to sell he advised us that getting the attic insulated would definitely be a selling point. Calum advised us that we would receive a 25 year guarantee and a drone would be used to inspect the roof for heat loss. We decided to go ahead. They installed a dehumidifier and the next day they did the spray foam. The job has been left incomplete not to mention the mess that they left behind them. We cannot get in touch with them as it appears they have blocked our number. We are now in the position where we are having to get the insulation removed which is going to be very costly as without that we cannot sell our house.

Ripped off

We got a quote from Craig and decided to go ahead and get open cell foam in the loft. But this was highlighted on the STV NEWS that company’s should not be selling this due to the fact that you cannot sell your house as a survey is impossible to do so a mortgage company will not grant a mortgage. Also this bunch left in the glass wool which now creates a hot roof syndrome. I have taken all the glass wool out and almost half of the foam. We went to find this company today to complain but we were unable to find their place of work and it seems many other people are looking for them also. Do not touch this bunch and make sure others are aware that miss selling spray foam. We have been in touch with the police and trading standards.

Missing warranty

Writing this review on behalf of my parents. They had the foam spray insulation installed 23 months ago and are happy with the service provided for that. However, have been getting nothing but the absolute run around from customer services when trying to chase their warranty. To reiterate what a previous customer stated… ‘What does it take to get a slip of paper? The work was done; the money handed over. What’s the problem? Installation ok. After sales awful.’ - sort it out or I’ll be going down the legal route with this!

Very disappointing customer service

Writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents. They were satisfied with the work this company did. However when the surveyor came round to give the initial inspection his foot went through the ceiling. They have now been waiting since the 6th January 2024 for a resolution to the hole in their ceiling. They have called numerous times and are told “leave it with me and we’ll get right on to it” two months later still waiting. Now when they call the company and leave messages they no longer get any return calls from the company. Very disappointing that a company would treat an elderly and vulnerable couple this way.

Spray foam

Spray foam! Government grant? Aye right bet u just made up the price. Absolute waste of money as found out today this foam just covers up and traps the moisture and mould from the wet roof, i am now having to pay for someone to properly fix this.

Avoid!

The surveyor (and well trained pushy salesman) convinced us to put in a deposit of £150 to seal the deal (massively overpriced as we realised later) with the promise that it is fully refundable. The manager brought down the cost significantly but after some research we were just not convinced of the quality and longevity of the product so we requested a refund well within the specified timeframe. A month and a half later still no refund to be seen despite multiple attempts to chase this. Unacceptable! Avoid this company!

Do Not let these people in your home or…

Do Not let these people in your home or it will be a costly mistake. As I’ve read now in previous comments. It seems to be the same sales pitch that everyone receives. These scammers phoned me and told me that they were working in the area. God knows where they got my contact details. They offered me a free loft check which I stupidly accepted. They advised me that I should get my loft spray foamed and this would add 5% to the value of my property. The quote they gave me was ridiculous at first and then they halved it to make it sound as if I was getting a good deal. I stupidly accepted it and paid the deposit. The work was carried out 2 days later. Me and my partner have decided to put our house on the market which you need to get a home report done. The surveyor came out to do the report and asked if we had done any modifications to the property. I told him about this spray foam and his face changed instantly. He told me that if I don’t remove this stuff he can’t do the home report as he can’t see what’s behind it. This foam stuff they fill your voids with holds the water behind it and causes the timber to be constantly wet which can lead to rot and structural problems. I have now removed this stuff and I’m going to trading standards and I want my money back for the install and the removal. Please don’t be like me and fall for these crooks or it will cost you dearly.

Thank you for sharing your concerns and experience. We're committed to understanding and addressing any issues you may have faced with your recent loft insulation installation.

Regarding your experience with loft spray foam insulation, it's important to note that the industry has undergone significant changes recently. The 'New Spray Foam Protocol', introduced in March last year, was developed by the Insulation Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) and other key industry stakeholders. This protocol aims to regulate the industry, ensuring all installations meet high-quality standards. For more information on these guidelines, please visit the Insulation Manufacturers’ Association website at Insulation Manufacturers’ Association. https://insulationmanufacturers.org.uk/guides-brochures/

Your concerns about the spray foam obstructing the surveyor's view during the home report and potential moisture retention are understandable.
However, it is essential to clarify that when installed correctly and in compliance with the new industry standards, certified spray foam insulation should not cause these issues. Proper installations adhere to rigorous standards for ventilation and moisture control.

It seems there might be a gap in awareness regarding the updated industry standards, particularly from the surveyor's perspective. Mortgage lenders now require that installations are in line with specific product certifications (BBA or KIWA) and come with a homeowner's pack containing all relevant documentation. This is a crucial step towards ensuring the quality and safety of installations.

Before taking steps to remove the spray foam, it would have been beneficial to discuss your concerns and the surveyor’s feedback with us. This would have allowed us to address any issues directly and provide reassurance or corrective action if needed.

We encourage you to report your experience to Trading Standards as you intend. Additionally, we are here to offer any further assistance and support you may need. Our commitment to customer satisfaction and adherence to industry standards is unwavering, and your feedback is instrumental in helping us maintain these commitments.

Again, we regret any inconvenience or distress this situation has caused you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for further assistance or clarification.

Open cell spray insolation

My experience had been a great with this company. Matt came to see me only a few days ago and told me the truth about what conditions my loft was in. After that conversation and plenty off help he made my decision easy.

Alex Gordan and Josh came up and sorted out all my stuff in my loft for me moved everything away from the beams forthe next team coming after it was dry as it was very wet. Once dried out another team came doing cpen cell spray foam insulation and what an excellent job. Every single one off them have done a wonderful job for me with no worries.

I want to thank Matt for his honesty and all his help in sorting out the job.

Alex Gordan And Josh thank you for sorting all my stuff in the loft back to where it was it a given me piece of mind.

Margaret.
