I took my mum for a glaucoma referral. Her appointment was at 12.40pm. We left the building just before 5pm. In that time we probably spent about 45 minutes in tests or with the consultant. The rest of the time we waited in the corridor, at one point there was about 2 hours where nothing happened. All the staff were lovely but better organisation is needed to prevent quite elderly people waiting so long.

From arriving in reception to exiting after surgery the staff at at all stages were great and informed me what the procedure's were and reassured me that the process was quick and painless. On completion of surgery I sat up on the bed an exclaimed WOW, the fog has gone my eye has continued to improve I can now watch TV without glasses and read car number plate without glasses. I will be going again to remove the cataract for my other eye.

I had my cataract surgery a week ago. Against the advice of most friends and relatives I decided to have both eyes done at the same time using multi focal galaxy lenses. It took about 3 days to get a clear view and I am extremely happy with my decisions although it was not cheap. All staff at SpaMedica were very friendly and extremely professional with everything they did.5stars very well deserved.

Just a minor suggestion:
Because patients, more often than not, are told not to drive, they are reliant on families, friends or taxi services. For those who use public transport, it would help if Spamedica published details of nearest services, bus, train or metrolink tram. Plus details of the nearest landmark (EG Manchester the Spamedica centre is opposite the old St George's church) A map would also help.

Quite frankly, other than perhaps creating an elaborate video guide for the complimentary hot drinks dispenser, SpaMedica Oxford (in my humble opinion) has very little room for improvement.
After two years of discussions, my mother finally agreed to cataract surgery during a routine eye test at Carterton Opticians. Her lovely optician, Adam, sat with us, talked through the entire process in detail, and arranged the referral.
Soon after, we were contacted by DORA (SpaMedica’s AI-powered telephone assistant). Despite her inherent fear of new technology, I suspect my mother would have coped just fine - but I took the call. A few simple questions later and we were booked in for a pre-operative assessment with what turned out to be a team every bit as empathetic, friendly, and professional as our optician.
On arrival, we received a warm and friendly welcome from reception and were directed upstairs (lift or stairs available). After a short wait, my mother was assessed (accompanied by her gorgeous son as chaperone) by a knowledgeable optometrist who was more than happy to accommodate a little light humour. We were on our way home well within 90 minutes.
Two weeks later, we returned for the “dreaded” operation. Mother’s nerves were quickly eased by another warm welcome and a genuinely relaxed, jovial atmosphere. Before long, she was whisked away and out of my hands.
I’d like to say I sat and worried, but I didn’t. I had complete confidence she was in safe hands. Instead, I broke out my work laptop and continued with my daily duties. When I was about to lose power, the reception staff were more than happy for me to make use of a spare plug socket, so my work was uninterrupted. True to expectations, we were all done and heading home within around 2½ hours, armed with post-op information, eye drops, and a sick note.
I would urge anybody attending SpaMedica Oxford to approach without caution or worry. You really are in good hands and every member of staff we encountered was genuinely caring.
If you’re not going there for treatment, I suggest you grow yourself some cataracts and get there as soon as possible! We had a surprisingly pleasant experience throughout.

Attended a SpaMedica facility for a second cataract procedure having had one cataract rectified on a prior occasion.
As on the first occasion I was highly satisfied with not only the result but the way in which the whole procedure was carried out. All of the staff, from the receptionist to the medical and cleaning personnel, were friendly and professional which gave a good degree of comfort and confidence.
I have no hesitation in recommending SpaMedica.

The whole experience from assessment to surgery was excellent. It was efficient with no waiting for the next stage. Explanations in publications and from staff was clear and there was allowance for questions or clarification. Staff were professional.
I have not experienced any discomfort with the affected eye although there could be the expectation for this.
It was certainly a hassle free experience which was well managed.

This experience is not directly mine.
My friend is treated at SpaMedica in Chelmsford and I'm her 'driver'.
She's treated very well and I know she would have no complaints.
One thing though, which would seem rather petty but is very annoying. There are no hooks on the toilet doors to hang our handbags and have to put them on the floor. No matter how clean the floor looks that is not hygienic. Bag hooks please Spa.

From first referral from my optician, I had initial contact within a week and an assessment 10 days later. Surgery was just 5 weeks later.
The staff were superb, explaining each step carefully. On op day, checking at 08:00 and discharged at 10:00.
Little if any discomfort and sight clear after 5hours. Great result.
Grateful thanks to all the staff at the Kendal site.

Understandably apprehensive but the number of patients awaiting surgery most of a certain age was surprising. The process was at best uncomfortable but certainly not painful.
The apprehension was worse than the operation. The Staff were most professional and the Op was maybe 15 or 20 minutes at most. A little post op soreness but the results were impressive. Not only has my vision improved dramatically but more striking is that colours are much much more vibrant.

Excellent, from the moment I walked in for treatment.
The staff were kind and very caring .The actual treatment was nothing short of brilliant. I say that because I was a little nervous, and was amazed that it all went so smoothly. Thank you.

I had my right eye cataract surgery 3 days ago, which at SpaMedica in Edgbaston Birmingham, The ophthalmic surgeon "Kenan Damer" is very professional, I can discuss with him about my request before the surgery.
I am not painful, the operation is performed using high technology equipment called phacoemulsification, it takes around 5-10 minutes to finish the surgery. At first I am so scaring the surgery willl carry out by registrar. Luckily it was a fantastic experience - my vision is much clearer now.
If having one more follow-up appointment would be safer and provide better assurance.
Thanks to all friendly staff who were professional and obviously the surgery team.
Thank you all
Marjory
