Brand: Spitfire Audio

To create the greatest film scores in the world, you need to think outside the box. We teamed up with legendary composer Hans Zimmer ( Dunkirk, The Dark Knight, Interstellar), to produce this spectacular innovation: 344 players performing an unconventional range of playing techniques in Lyndhurst Hall at London's world-famous AIR Studios. With up to 26 mic positions, only technology allows you to play an ensemble this big — from thundering basslines to glass-like high strings, this is symphonic strings maximised. With the help of design and user experience agency UsTwo ( Monument Valley, DICE), Hans Zimmer Strings is presented in our award-winning dedicated plugin — developed primarily for composers, by composers. Take the dynamic of your scores to levels you’ve never imagined, with our most ambitious library yet.

It's a top notch and one among the state of the art libraries that has been produced.

Let Hans Zimmer Strings guide you—effortlessly, instinctively. Its sound is a pure formula for beauty, a voice for emotions too deep for words, and a canvas for your most vivid dreams. With an interface so elegantly simple, it invites you to lose yourself completely in the richness of its tone. In just minutes, you’re no longer a user—you’re an artist. These strings don’t just play music. They awaken something within you. They take you somewhere you’ve never been before.

I’ve been using Hans Zimmer Strings for a few days now, and while the sound quality is genuinely beautiful, especially the soft, airy articulations like flautando and sul tasto, there are definitely a few things that bug me. Some patches are so quiet you can barely hear them without boosting the volume a lot, and the fact that the volume resets every time you switch articulations gets annoying pretty fast. The interface looks good but isn’t the most practical, mic positions are awkwardly split, there’s no sample purge, and the bigger patches take forever to load and use up a lot of RAM. Fast articulations also tend to blur together, so if you're aiming for tight spiccatos, it takes some tweaking to get them right. One thing I really want to mention though is the name, it can be a bit misleading. If you're hoping to get that punchy, aggressive, larger-than-life Hans Zimmer sound you hear in his scores, this library might not give you that straight out of the box. Ironically, in my opinion, Albion One actually gets closer to that classic Zimmer energy than this one does. HZ Strings leans more into the emotional and cinematic textures rather than the bombastic blockbuster feel. It’s still a great tool for the right kind of music, but just don’t go into it expecting The Dark Knight or Inception vibes without some heavy layering and extra work.

What can i say…. It’s a Hans Zimmer Plugin, it’s simply perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I wanted to say thank you to Josie and Josh for explaining the different sound levels for the articulations. Some were driving me crazy due to their super low sounds. They are meant to be played in that manner. I now need to find another way to produce louder sounds using other articulations. It is a steep learning curve for someone who lacks music theory let alone the knowledge of articulation for each instrument. Thanks to the staff at Spitfire Audio for being cordial, patience, and understanding with my questions.

A work of art. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

This VST plugin has classical instruments sounding like themselves to the truest because they were recorded in a real environment with every possible spatial characteristic encoded. Although I personally don't use it for any mighty work, looking into the amount of controls available, it's capable of getting some expansive work taken care of with ease. Spitfire Audio has done a marvelous job.

I wasn’t sure to buy this library but I’m glad I did cause the sound and greatness this library gives you is from another world. It’s super big and will give you that Hans Zimmer greatness but it is smooth and delicate at the same time. It has some articulations that I haven’t seen in any other strings library that can be very useful. perfect for huge filmscoring sound.

It’s sounds so great. Dynamics adjustment and different way of playing strings are decent and very useful.
