Good price shame about the kit.

Good price, but faulty equipment is never fixed. Salisbury gym had a broken smith rack when I joined. I was told it was getting fixed. 6 months later it still wasn’t fixed. Mediocre rowing machines with foot straps that need tightening every 500m. One step machine, very old. On a plus side, they have updated the spin bikes in the sweat box spin studio.
I eventually gave up and went to snap fitness, cost is £5 more a month but it is so worth it to have gym equipment that works well and a better selection.

Absolutely fantastic

Absolutely fantastic the value for money its unbelievable

i go to the Hove branch the gym is fairly good the machines are a little out dated but they all serve their purpose well

the Sauna isnt posh but its a really good sauna and it serves its purpose really well

the steam room has improved TEN FOLD it so much stronger than it used to be exactly how a steam room should be

the pool is small but its a pool just swim back and forth a few more times

the sense of community here beats all the other gyms ive tried people are typically lovely

think of this place as the weather spoons of gym you pay £20 per month for a gym sauna steam room pool and tennis courts anyone who moans and complains are complaining for the sake of it

plus if you pay 25 per month you can go contract free and cancel anytime

lastly 25 per month and you get unlimited access to their insane amount of classes and two free guest passes a month its just silly how good the value is i would recommend this gym to anyone

Disgraceful..

Disgraceful... Told I was getting a 12 month contract and it would be terminated at the end of the 12 months.. Only to find out 2 months later that I'm still paying for a contract I no longer want to be in.. When I ring the gym and speak to someone I'm then told that I can cancel my Rolling contract but have to pay a further 3 months... Hmmmmmm why??? Never again

horrible place, awful customer service

I am a ex-member of the Guildford sports direct gym. I have tried to contact the manager numerous times only to be ignored. I don't know what to do. He has made it impossible to ask any questions or dispute my fee which is infuriating but I can assure you I will pay no more than what I think is fair. My argument is that I didn't understand I had to pay January's fee because I had cancelled my membership in October, so I cancelled my direct debit. I was then contacted in January about my outstanding fee of £19.99 so I contacted the manager to queery it on the 8th of January. I emailed him so many times without response- sometimes up to 5 times in a row without any response. If he had responded on the day and explained my situation to me I would have happily paid the £19.99 but instead he took a month to reply to me racking another £30 of administration fees! Each time I got an email about the fees I would reply, and also email any customer service emails I could find on the internet and also the manger I was previously emailing. I am at a loss at what to do because I have been ignored by everyone I've spoken to. I have extreme social anxiety so I prefer to email rather than call people (as conversations can be hard for me) yet the manager made that nearly impossible. Despite my mental health I did call the gym several times still to no avail. The best I got was an email on the 27th explaining my debt (but all too late as I already had £20 of admin fees).

Absolutely the worst gym in the world!!!

Absolutely the worst gym in the world. Most of the time most it it doesn’t work and you are told it will be fixed but they just fix it when it suits. Then a few days later broken again. On top of that the staff are rude and talk to you like dirt.
My advice is to pay a little bit more and go elsewhere

TERRIBLE. NEVER AGAIN

My personal opinion is that the 5* reviews on this page can only have been given by people somehow affiliated with SDF as I honestly cannot fathom how any sensible person could give them such a good rating. It's easier to break into Fort Knox than it is to leave this gym. Unclear notice periods, £10 admin fees added left, right, and centre. Being chased for money and threatened with debt collectors. There are much better, more ethically ran budget gym chains than this. My advise would be AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Seems to be a link between people…

Seems to be a link between people giving 1* reviews of the gyms and people who don't understand THEIR responsibility to read and understand terms and conditions.
The 3mo cancellation notice period and all the other things people are moaning about are there quite clearly for all to see in the t and cs.
Its not the staffs job to read and understand it for you - its yours. If you don't like it don't sign up. Simple.

CON ARTISTS

As is already demonstrated by the AWFUL ratings this gym already has I also strongly recommend not joining this gym. The contract clauses are disgraceful and you will be billed for 3 months when you cancel a ONE MONTHS MEMBERSHIP! That’s £65 to leave a one month membership contract and £10 for every time they feel like adding and if you try to pay online it doesn’t even work. Disgusting con artists AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Rugby gym

Sports Direct fitness Rugby

Tired, not well maintained, staff seem uninterested and lazy, not a good image for a fitness club. Except the PT’s, they’re very good, the rest seem to sit around with their feet up on their phones. They don’t even scan your card on the way in now!

Machines / facilities often out of order and take a long one to fix.

Car park in poor condition, potholes and very muddy in bottom spaces.

I cannot even begin to cover all the…

I cannot even begin to cover all the poor experiences my partner and I have had with SDF. It has been a rollercoaster of stress and practices bordering on the illegal, some of which we are still attempting to untangle. AVOID THEM. There are many other gym alternatives and SDF do not care about you as a customer.

Excellent

Excellent, since Sports Direct Fitness has taken over some of the clubs I am a member of -

The price has gone down considerably - They currently have the best rates in my city, a clubwide membership with classes comes at a great price - A single membership for gym and swim comes at a great price.

I love the way you can select a membership for basic gym and swim or add on classes.

I was a member of 2 of the clubs in my city that were aquired by Sports Direct Fitness and since then the clubs have become vibrant, lot of younger folk taking advantage of the good prices too which is all good; By providing excellent prices and membership options they keep the clubs vibrant with a great atmosphere.

Sportsdirect has great clobber too for the gym - the only turkey was a health band that they had posters up for, it was marketed as a gympal but was just a step counter didn't connect to any of the machines like the bands that are designed for the running machines - I emailed about this but never got a reply.

Otherwise the gym just keeps getting better, I love the way they kept trialing out new installations, something different every week, currently they have one of the best set ups across several levels over any other gym in my city.

Great company

Machines never work and place is always…

Machines never work and place is always filthy. AVOID. After not attending and cancelling membership have been given a cancellation fee which was never told about when joining. After reading reviews i checked terms and conditions where it briefly mentions a notice which memebers arent informed of. Term 6.1 is the funniest of them all as 'the Contract can only be cancelled in very limited circumstances' where customers have to have their reason for cancellation verified. An absolute disgrace.
