When we arrived the table was already set for us. The lady who served us was very friendly and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea and we felt very relaxed. A lovely experience.
A great Easter Holiday Experience
My grandchildren (aged 4 and 6) thoroughly enjoyed their Painting/Planting a Plant Pot experience over the Easter Holidays. Thank you, St Peters - and thank you to the lovely member of staff who made us all feel so welcome. Hoping those sunflower seeds grow and flourish!
The afternoon tea is delicious
The afternoon tea is delicious, so much choice. The bread for the sandwiches was so light. I was pleased that the scones came with proper clotted cream. Definitely value for money.
Dreadful Drinks and unwelcoming staff
This review isn't about the Garden center part of the establishment but the potting shed resteraunt.
To start me and my family had walked in just for tea and cake, as a family of 6 we were going to sit in the booths, I had seen they were reserved not an issue, but the fact that from across the dining area a staff member shouted whilst clicking their fingers at us to not sit there was already a bad start, should have walked away then but I had promised my daughters a treat.
Now on to the other issue the coffee and hot chocolate, they have a sign at the til saying "award winning hot chocolate" it was anything but, I can only compare the flavour profile to one of those cheap artificial packets you can purchase from a corner store, the was nothing award winning about it ! And the coffee it wasn't spectacular, honestly on par with morrisons best which tastes over roasted on a good day all that considering the price of the drinks, astronomical to say the least, absolutely insulting when your paying for nothing special.
You can visit other local garden centers even supermarkets cafes for less the price and better flavour.
Then it took the staff that long to actually make the drinks a queue began to form, causing several potential customers to walk away!
One good thing I can say is the cakes that we ordered were phenomenal, the only bright side about the experience, I would recommend someone goes for a cake but not a drink save your money !
Also whilst having our drinks and eating our cakes staff began to close down the restaurant, wiping tables, sweeping and stacking chairs, at the same time as still taking orders from incoming customers, it made the entire environment unwelcoming.
I would like to add I've have regularly been impartial to a drink and cake from the potting shed over the years having not been there in a couple of years since moving away its a shame to say id sooner go elsewhere now.

We did the pot painting and planting at St Peter’s for my daughter and it was adorable. Darcy who ran it was so kind to the children and chatting, helping with whatever they needed. We also got a butterfly hotel and colouring to decorate plus free fruit and squash for the kids. Such a lovely event for Easter!
Wonderful Easter holiday event…
Wonderful Easter holiday event decorating plant pots and saucers. Grandchildren aged 5 and 9 years thoroughly enjoyed decorating the pots then being taken through the steps in planting and propagating sunflower seeds. In addition they decorated but houses. Event included refreshments and a piece of fruit. The yurt is a tranquil environment. So many goodies to take home to give lasting memories.

I booked this course for my mums birthday. The course was cancelled but I only found out this through a friend who was also doing the course. I did not receive an email from St Peter’s informing me and had to make contact myself. Had my friend not informed me then we would have attended on the day. I had also already told my mum about her gift attending the terrarium course so she was disappointed and cannot make the next available one.

Beware Dog Owners
A first visit to this garden centre today, with our 2 little well behaved dogs. We walked around the outside area to start with to try ensure there were no accidents inside. We are always respectful of our surroundings and would NEVER knowingly allow our dogs to urinate inside.
However, on leaving the premises today, my daughter was rudely approached by a member of staff, clutching a roll of tissue paper, saying that our little poodle had urinated and that she was having to clean it up. My adult daughter was spoken to like a 'naughty child' and was left feeling very upset and humiliated. Obviously in a dog friendly environment, it is inevitable that accidents may happen! My daughter had no idea that this had happened and that obviously we were being watched around the centre. Just a warning to other dog owners. The first and last time we will be visiting!

Afternoon tea
The staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. The food was well presented and tasty. I would come again, I would just like more choices on the sandwich fillings.

Took our two granddaughters, met by a young girl, explained everything.staff in cafe bought hot drinks over for us.had a great time colouring butterfly house/ bug house.
Afternoon out
We brought our granddaughter over to an activity in the tepee she and granddad had great fun painting a butterfly house .The young lady there was excellent with us and the young children
Excellent Garden Centre
A really good choice of excellent quality plants. Lots to look at inside & buy. Great cafe inside & outside with a small area for children to explore. Large tent for booking craft days which is excellent value.
Excellent Activity
Spent a very enjoyable hour doing the half-term activity. Both the 3 year old and 7 year old had a fabulous time. The quality of the bug/butterfly boxes was excellent, and I'm sure they will work well in the garden. The organisation was great with warm and welcoming staff. We have been to other activity sessions at St Peter's and they've always been good value for money. Would thoroughly recommend.
