Wife and I had the two course Christmas…
Wife and I had the two course Christmas lunch for £19.99. Excellent price, delicious food and fantastic friendly service. Thank you.
I attended the Christmas wreath…
I attended the Christmas wreath workshop and it was brilliant. By far the best Christmas wreath workshop I have ever been to.
On arrival met by friendly staff…
On arrival met by friendly staff accommodating and informative. The Santa lunch was so well organised, food and atmosphere was just lovely. Will definitely go again next year. Granddaughter super happy talking to the Elves and seeing Santa. Just a lovely afternoon, thank you all
Wreath making workshop
My daughter and I attended the wreath making workshop shop. We did thoroughly enjoy ourselves. The leaders were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone had coffee brought to their table. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was because so many things had changed to make it simpler I felt it didn’t take me long at all to complete my wreath. I think part of the enjoyment for me was the challenge. That said, I can’t fault the leaders. It was an enjoyable day and the cream tea we ordered was delicious. It was nice to have the room in the cafe for the refreshments.
Wreath-Making
Attended the Wreath-making Event with my daughter. We both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience especially as it was our first time at doing it. The staff were really good at explaining how to decorate the wreaths and were constantly checking on everyone and giving more advice. The refreshments were really good too.
Savoury and sweet afternoon tea…
We thoroughly enjoyed our delightful afternoon tea experience. We were greeted with a genuine warm welcome and attentive service during our visit. The savoury and sweet options were delicious and accompanied by copious quantities of hot tea served in a beautiful teapot to match the crockery. Thank you!
Attended Prop Box workshop
Attended The Bearded Plantaholic’s Prop Box workshop in the yurt.
Very nice space to work in. Excellent workshop, everything provided and Jonny was entertaining, knowledgeable, friendly and a brilliant teacher. He managed to give everyone a little individual time - it was a big group, and most of us were fans of both plants and Jonny. Plenty of parking on site and a lovely garden centre with friendly staff.
Coffee in the potting shed
We have been visiting St Peter’s for years and often come on a Saturday afternoon for coffee and cake. We like our coffee hot so always ask the barista for our coffees to be made extra hot.
We have asked so many times but it seems that it is not possible to fulfil our request 🙁 we visited on Saturday and once again the coffee was warm at best. We have had coffee at other places and this does not seem to be an issue, unfortunately we have decided to go elsewhere in future which is such a shame as we do love St Peter’s.

The kindness and thoughtfulness of staff
The kindness, patience and thoughtfulness of staff in the Yurt …. overseeing the pumpkin carving event. My granddaughters loved the activity. The Potting Shed cafe staff were kept very busy but still found time to serve my coffee in the Yurt. Thank you all for making this such an enjoyable event.
Pumpkin Carving
We came for pumpkin carving this week. It was fantastic - staff were so helpful, lots of space and we weren't rushed at all. Lots of your lovely staff members commented on their Pumpkins as we walked through to the exit. The best bit...no mess in my house! We'll definitely be booking again next year!
Grandsons enjoyed the pumpkin carving
Grandsons enjoyed the pumpkin carving. They were able to chose what size pumpkin they wanted.
As usual all well thought out by St Peter’s.
We’ve been coming for the pumpkin…
We’ve been coming for the pumpkin carving event for the past three years, and it’s always such a great experience! My girls absolutely love it every time. The staff are always so friendly and helpful, which makes the whole visit even more enjoyable.
Visited for afternoon tea
Visited for afternoon tea. Food was plentiful and tasty. Staff friendly.
I did, however, have an issue with the admin side of things. I understand payment being required in advance but was surprised that cancellation within 7 days meant you lost full payment (£25 pp). Even my dentist only requires 24 hours of cancellation!
terrarium making workshop
Went to a terrarium making workshop - very good value, excellent, knowledgeable teacher - fabulous plants and kit to make the terrarium - lovely yurt to with fire inside - a great morning thank you
We had afternoon tea
We had afternoon tea, both sweet and savoury. It was really lovely.
Even though the restaurant was really busy the staff are friendly and helpful.
We will be returning as soon as possible x
Avoid the events
The Garden Centre is fine for what it is but the Dinosaur show over the summer holidays was awful. 3 puppets for an hour, just wandering around and taking photos with the children. No story, no facts, literally two guys wandering around the group with puppets. And £15 for the event and a couple £ for accompanying adults. I understand they all have to make a little money but this was a cash grab and not even a good one. I would not rush to spend my money here for kids events in the future. What a joke.
Visited the dinosaur experience on…
Visited the dinosaur experience on Thursday 14th August. The adults enjoyed it as much as the children. Very good puppeteers (sorry, spoiler) who interacted with the kids and adults, really well. Our only minor negative comment would be that perhaps more parasols for shade should have been available on this very hot day.
Overpriced and boring
We visited this week to attend the 'meet the dinosaurs' event.
We decided to arrive before the event so that we could have lunch in the cafe. When we arrived we waited approx 5/10 mins by the 'please wait to be seated' sign. Numerous staff members who passed us ignored us. I appreciate they were busy but a quick 'we'll be with you in a minute' wouldn't have gone amiss. Eventually we gave up waiting and seated ourselves. When I approached a member of staff to ask for a menu, she was rude, explaining that 'they were busy so we just needed to wait'.
The waitress we had was absolutely wonderful. She helped us out with voucher codes so that my daughter could have a free meal. Unfortunately, I never got her name, but she was wonderful at her job and was the best part of our visit!
The food was mediocre given how expensive it was. £12 for a sandwich and a few chips! The bread of the sandwich was also stale, possibly due to the heat. The food cost almost £40 for 2 meals and 2 drinks.
We then visited the dinosaur event. This had cost me £21 for 1 child and 2 adults. There were 2 baby dinosaurs and 1 big dinosaur. The puppets/costumes were great but the event was so boring. The kids had to wait while the men took the dinosaurs round to see everyone, which meant most of them walked off to find something else to play with. The kids were told they could touch, roar at or 'walk' the dinosaur but there was nothing else to do. I believe quite a few people left before the end of the event. When the hour was up they just walked the dinosaur away, no 'goodbye, thanks for coming' nothing. The worst bit was that as we waited for ice cream afterwards, they just wheeled the dinosaur costume past on a trolley to pack it up. It wasn't covered up or anything, completely ruining the illusion for the kids.
We've visited the garden centre before and I know how expensive it is and I don't mind paying it when you feel like you're getting a good service, but I'm not sure I'll be coming back after this.
There was also a paint your own rock station but you had to pay 50p to borrow the pens. This just blew my mind given how much money they're already charging for everything!
