1. The Tenant shop are unfortunately contracted by Winkworth to notify the utility providers in terms of new tenants. Our experience shows that The Tenant shop don't seem to fully follow their contractual obligation, nor follow it in a respectful manner.
2. With the above being said we've had to do their job and actually notify Affinity water that we moved into our new property. Affinity could not locate any notifications from The Tenant shop about our property and despite The Tenant shop's claims that they've done the notification they failed to provide any hard evidence such as email correspondence that the notification from their side took place. This is occasions no.1 where they have misled both their client and our side.
3. When contacted by their sales representative they were asked if this was a sales call/ an attempt to sell their services. They denied several times claiming they've been contracted by our property agent to send notifications, however, the focus on their interactions was different utility offers. Despite us clearly signalling that we were not interested in anything other than the actual notifications the representative was not only dodging our questions but was also unnecessarily nosy asking all sorts of questions in an attempt to gain enough information to convince us to use xyz offers so he could get commission.
This was the second time The Tenant shop tried misleading us. When escalated with someone senior the senior admitted that it was indeed a sales call.
4. Their sales representative also seemingly had no clue what they were talking about. Failing to answer most questions and repeating the same off-topic answers like a robot aside, they've failed the verification of the company. When asked for the companies house number registration they kept giving the company's phone number and had no logical explanation as to why they were doing what they've been doing. I'm not sure if they were once again trying to mislead us or simply lack the relevant skills and knowledge.
The call felt particularly coercive and harassing and the contractual obligation certainly does not include harassing people over the phone with sales pitches nor this is a respectful way to fulfill one's contractual obligation to the client

they called me twice a day everyday, despite telling them not to. I had mentioned that I would get back to them once I had made a decision about what services I wanted. They did not respect this and kept calling me incessantly.

1. They started spamming me with email, messages and phone calls as soon as I signed up with the agent.
2. They couldn't get me a better deal on broadband and electricity than I could myself.
3. They couldn't do change of address for me at any of my banks etc, the only ones they could do were water and council tax.
4. My move fell through on move day as my agent had misled me, so I asked them to cancel the notifications in 3. They said they couldn't do that without the agent's permission, so I had no control at all and the agent, who I was in a dispute with, had all the control.
5. My dispute was resolved over 3 months later, after going through all three levels of the agents complaints process, when they finally admitted I was right, and refunded all my money.
6. A month after that, and I just received a final demand for Council Tax, threatening to take me to court, for tax on a property I never set foot in! Even now, Tenant Shop refuse to cancel what they told the council, unless they have the agent's consent.
7. So I will NEVER again hand over control of my financial responsibilities to a company who is paying a third party for my custom, and then hands decision making which should be mine over to that company!

It is not concerned with the two representatives talking to me, but concerned with my knowing this ‘trustpilot’ agency. Therefore I have some reservation to the representatives introducing to me. They are very friendly and in good patient explaining to me.

Tenant Shop's review game here on Trustpilot is strong. Unfortunately, that's not always the case when it comes to their service.
Here are a couple of things you should keep in mind before relying on their help with setting up your utilities.
First, Tenant Shop makes most of its money from the commission paid by utility companies when they sign you up. For this business model to work, they have to present themselves as experts in your flat's energy setup. Even when they have no idea what the setup actually is. Unless you press them, they're unlikely to admit that their understanding of your needs might be limited.
Second, unlike property agents or energy suppliers, Tenant Shop isn't covered by an ombudsman or official complaints scheme. If their advice leads to problems or extra costs, there's no independent process for resolving it and no compensation.
If your property has a straightforward energy setup and your landlord has given them all the right information, Tenant Shop might be fine.
But if your setup might be unusual, be careful.
In my case, I ended up with a surprise two-and-a-half-year electricity bill after moving out because Tenant Shop failed to explain the unique split supply with one electricity provider for heating and hot water, another for general electricity. No one flagged this, and the result was a large, unexpected bill.
My advice: set up your utilities yourself. You'll know exactly who's supplying what, and you'll avoid nasty surprises.
In my experience, Tenant Shop can make things less convenient, not more.
