I was given the card as a gift

I was given the card as a gift. Used it once and then went to next store to use it again and is declined. When I went on to check my balance there had been a order for Saudi Arabia done online less than 2 minutes from the time I had first swiped it. Clearly scammers working for the company as they would be the only ones able to do this transaction within a 2 minute time frame. Unreal!!
DO NOT RECCOMEND

The Perfect Scam

If you're looking to get someone the most frustrating possible gift, I present the solution: the"perfect"gift Visa or Master card. Otherwise, stay away from this card and tell your friends and family to give good old fashion cash instead. It requires you to register the card, with all your personal info before you can use it, and it can't be used for online purchases that exceed the value of the card. In addition to all that, its service fee is anywhere from $5-10 to pay for all the one time use plastic packaging that the card comes in.

This company sucks for Canadian

This company sucks for Canadian. This company is in the USA and not in Canada. I tried to contact them via phone, mail and email and they are not answering or replying to my emails. I got my cards in April and complaint in May. We are in September and no news from them.

Second if you want to check your balance and you type fheprefectgift.ca ( and F instead of a T ) it will send you to a fake site that grab all your info. I lost about $100 and sent the forms for transaction that were not mine to complain and never got my money back or a message back from them.

Stay away from this company.

Thieves, pirates, scammers!

I am adding my voice to the collective outrage. One star is too high for a company like this. Do everyone a favour and avoid theperfectgift.ca!

If you think Canadian law preserves your gift card balance it seems that is not true with respect to prepaid credit cards. I am not sure if other PPCC providers exploit this but theperfectgift.ca definitely does. I finally got around to using my $25 gift card only to learn that I had been paying a $3.00 per month service fee and the balance on the card had reached $1.00! This is on top of the activation fee that was paid by the person that bought the card. If someone unwittingly gives you one of these cards I recommend that you immediately use it to top up your amazon gift card balance. This way theperfectgift.ca can't steal your gift while you decide what to buy.

Until there are consumer protection laws preventing this scheme do not use, recommend, or gift prepaid Visa cards from theperfectgift.ca. Please actively share with your friends and family the truth about this scam.

Defective and no phone support

Purchased a number of these for a VIP client we had visiting. Our client tried using 2 of the cards we bought for him and they were declined on the first try. (yes, it was more than 24hrs after activation and my receipt said "activated") I tried to call into the card company for support but it's an automated line, you cannot talk to anyone live! It's embarrassing for our client to have two cards declined at a restaurant and for us giving him defective cards.

Side note: anyone notice the automated speaker sounds like she has a cold?

Do NOT PURCHASE

Do NOT PURCHASE!
The company charges $3.00 PER MONTH surcharge from the moment you buy the card. For example, if you don’t use your card within two years then you do not have the entire balance that you bought.
Never mind that they charge you $7.50 when you buy the card to activate it. So within the first month of owning the gift card they charge you $10.50. If you buy a $200 gift card it’s actually only worth $189.50 within the first month!!!
Total 100% rip off. Go with a MasterCard option and avoid theperfectgift.ca

We gave a $250 gift card for a wedding gift and two years later when the couple used the card it was worth $189. Total sham!!!

Illegal fees in Ontario.

These fees are illegal according to the Ontario Consumer Protection Act. I recommend anyone living in Ontario call their customer service and inform them to return the fees. If they do not compile, inform them that you will be filling a complaint with Ontario Consumer Protection. As well, there was a recent lawsuit (Bernstein v. Peoples Trust Company) which states the following judgment:
"On May 13, 2019, the Ontario Superior Court granted judgment. It agreed with the plaintiff that Peoples Trust prepaid cards were “gift cards” under the Consumer Protection Act. Therefore the cards were subject to rules that prohibited Peoples Trust from seizing “expired” funds or charging various fees."

UPDATE:
After opening a ticket with customer service and explaining that their fees are illegal in Ontario, the fees on my card were reversed. I did have to wait roughly 6 business days for them to do it though. In order to open a ticket I had to call the number on the back of the card and "dispute a transaction" (it takes a while to get to a person, but you can eventually get there). I also had to call and follow up twice in order to get my ticket prioritized since there was no movement on it. Keep in mind, the customer service representatives are just people, so try not to go off on them.

Here's how to get to dispute a transaction on the call:
1 or 2 - English or French
0 - to pass the initial message
1 - to input your card number
you should then here he option for dispute, just listen to the whole message and eventually it'll say "for any other dispute press x to talk to a representative"

Garbage

Garbage! If you don't use their garbage card right away, they start withdrawing $3 "service fees" until they deplete all the money and you are left with no balance. Total scam!

Personal info left vulnerable on website after registering card online

I haven't had the problems described by others. Was able to use the card successfully without registering, and didn't have any issues registering the card on the website. HOWEVER, I did have to do the math myself when checking my balance because the way purchases and balances are displayed don't make any sense. For example, following a $29 purchase, when the card balance was $104, the balance on the website showed I had $27. As I said, after adding up my total purchases, the final balance shown was in fact correct but there's no logic as to how they arrived at it. So that's one issue. More importantly, there is no option to log out of the site. So after registering the card, just to find out how much remains on the card--entering my name, address, telephone number, plus the credit card information--there's no way to securely close the page and its information. essentially leaving it open for who knows who to access. No wonder people's credit cards are being depleted of funds before they have a chance to use them.

I received a 75$ gift card from a friend some time ago. I planned to use it for some special purchase before the expiry date! But when I wanted to buy at store, it did not accept payment, almost nothing was left! I checked their website to see what is going on, and I found out that each month they stole 3$ from my card, namely "service fee"! Modern official thieves! I am really realllyyyyy dissatisfied! Will NEVER buy this card again and will try to let everyone know about this scam!

Shame on them...

No where will you find a gift card charging Cad 3.00 per month, so by the time I decided to do some shopping from Cad 50.00 I was left with Cad 38.00 so that is less by Cad 12.00 + about Cad 7.00 for purchasing this card.Nearly 40++ looted by the company.Never recommend anyone for it.Shame.....

Skip the middle man

Honestly, if you just want to throw money away, send it to that prince in Saudi Arabia that keeps sending you emails. $200 completely shot. Went to use the card and ALL the money is gone to, more than likely, the other shell companies these people own. Just don't!!

I received this card as a gift - don't purchase these cards

I received this card as a gift. Nothing obvious about service fees anywhere on the card - just very very small print about use of the card indicating acceptance of the terms. I did not use the card so did not accept the terms and when I went to use it there was a zero balance due to service fees even though the card is still 3 months from the expiry date (the date I was planning to use it by).

I wish there were negative ratings available.

There is not a low enough rating to give this scam artists. They tell you to register your card online and then when you call they can't find anything. They tell you they are replacing your card and then it never shows up. And, then they can't find any of your information. Complete scam stay far, far away!

DO NOT Purchase Total Waste of money!

What a waste of money for people that purchase these cards as gifts for a friend. Just out right theft. Received four cards as gifts. checked three of the four and found out two have $0 balance and one has a two dollar balance. No customer support! Says on the website that they have no expiration date which is BS, sure what's the point after they take $3/month off the card you are left with nothing anyways. What a scam!

The Perfect Scam

I've told family and friends to never purchase these 'perfect gift' Visa cards again. Try to register the card for use online using their website and have to complete their dice verification game 5 times only to be presented with an error...they say you're supposed to be able to use them in-store without registration, but whenever I've tried it gets declined, even though the site says I have a balance. So you don't use it right away due to the hassle and inability to get help from them (they have no customer support; if you call the number, you just get recordings). Meanwhile, they draw down the balance each month in fees until it's reaches $0.00. Literally just stealing money. Avoid at all costs.

DON'T BUY THIS GIFT CARD!!!
Should b -0 stars. Do not buy gift cards from these scammers. MY GIFT CARD HAD $50, BUT THERE IS ONLY 11 DOLLARS ON THAT. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE, SHE SAID THERE IS A $3 MONTHLY FEE EVEN BEFORE REGISTRATION!!!
They will take your money. $3 dollars a monthly taken starting from 12 months after it's purchased even if it was never registered or used. DON'T BUY THIS GIFT CARD. They are officially stealing your money!!
