Time to go somewhere cheaper!

Today, I paid £15 for a battery to be replaced in my inexpensive watch, which originally cost not much more than £20. On saying that I thought the price was too high at his original quote of £20, he reduced it to £15. Earlier in the year we had watch batteries replaced for £8 at the same place, so the price has more than doubled in the space of a few months! He said it was the labour , not the value of the watch which determines the price. As he only took 20 seconds that was a very good rate for him. I found out later that there is a small business which only charges £5 for straightforward battery replacement. I’ve learned my lesson- I will not be overcharged like this again

Things turned out ok.

i have been reading the comments on the theft or losses of repairs, and who is responsible etc my gold watch had been in with the watch hospital who as a company owned by one person went-bust.
some staff have been reemployed by a new business, i believe to be timpsons who have been working their way through tbe watch hospitals bscklog of jobs, they have not bought the watch hospital, i eventually got my time piece bsck about three weeks ago at the leeds branch where the old staff, who have been great over the years had chased my job and tracked its progress..this is not the current companies 'problem' i feel, in that they have been good enough to take this work on, and i was happy with the end result, the signs say watch hospital i presume until refurbs are done and i guess theyll be timpsons then. The problems here are afrom a now defunct company its not nice, but its not criminal its civil, and as limited companies are allowed to operate in this way in the uk, whilst the economic slowdown grinds on im sure theyll be more of the same, else where.
thanks dave and steve for their effort and help at store without them i may of been a little hysterical.

Absolutely awful customer experience

Absolutely awful customer experience - my partner and I paid a lot of money for them to order a part for his watch. Within a week, the store closed (without any notice). I have tried emailing them 5 times now, once I raised the complaint I have been met with radio silence. I have called them so many times, after them promising they'll call me back but I keep on getting ignored. This is a breach of contract and against the law (according to trading standards). Absolutely awful company and BEWARE.

Store closures and stolen goods

like many reviews I am reading on here its about the closure of branches, we placed my husbands Omega in the Watford branch for repair, the store then closed with no notice, we had only spoken to them the week before about the watch and the delay in it being returned. Long story short we have spoke to the Leeds branch as it was still operating as TWH, who said they had located the watch in their Wakefield store (head office) and it would be returned ASAP to us, then more silence so we managed to track down the liquidators,we've been passed to the insurers, still no answers.
I have called the Watford branch today as they have reopened under new ownership, they answer the phone as "the watch hospital", yet still no one can locate our watch and no one is taking ownership for this, this is theft at the end of the day and we are at our wits end.

We are now going through their insurers, this watch not only holds financial value but emotional value as it was a present I bought over 16 years ago. How can a watch disappear, the answer is it can't, its been stolen... disgraceful behavior.

Superb instamatic service.

Whe nearby Samuels changed the battery on my Cassio digital watch, we were unable to set the correct time - the button which put it into 'change' mode did nou funtion. They told me to go to The Watch Hospital.
At the Watch Hospital, Andy found the cause - a microscopic particle of dirt on the button inside the watch - and cleaned IN SECONDS. He set the correct time - and CHARGED ME NOTHING!

Watch returned after 7 months, lied about repair

I picked up my watch from The Watch Hospital in Norwich after a phone call at the beginning of March to say it was ready. I'd originally deposited it at the end of August 2022 and phoned monthly to check on progress; slow to say the least. After Christmas they said they were working on it but had to make a part, which they were then testing. The Norwich staff said they'd checked in with the central repair department, were vague about the part they were making, but that it would be ready soon. In retrospect, the warning signs were there but they said the pandemic had led to delays.

I went to pick the watch up at the beginning of April hoping to finally get a working watch back, to find no stock in the store and a 'cash only' sign at the desk. Expecting to pay for the repair and wondering where I would get the cash from I enquired what was happening with the store, only to find Timpsons had taken over the franchise and The Watch Hospital had gone into administration. The man on the desk rooted around and eventually found my watch. It came out with a piece of paper on which was written in big red pen "no chance" and "do not manual wind" as well as the original watch crystal. He said the watches had not been repaired, none of those he had given back had been finished. I'd paid a £25 deposit for the repair and no history of what they'd done had been recorded or handed over to Timpsons.

I phoned Timpsons customer service and they confirmed that no liability for The Watch Hospital had transferred to them. To their credit it seems they had retrieved customers' watches from branches and kept them safe centrally, before sending them back out to reopened branches. So if you are still waiting for your watches then I'd suggest you call Timpsons to see if they are still with them in their central repair department.

In summary, Watch Hospital lied to me for many months about repairing my watch and has left me with a watch where I have no clue what has or hasn't been done to it. I have no idea if it is repairable. The "do not manual wind" notice returned to me with the watch suggests to me that a rocky road lies ahead. I remain £25 out of pocket with a useless £250 watch and very little recourse. I am waiting to hear details of how I can claim as a creditor against The Watch Hospital but have little hope. I feel sorry for you if you have deposited an expensive watch or one of sentimental value.

They are closed without notice!

The Watch Hospital has apparently went into liquidation with most branches closed. They have my very expensive watch inside for repair, they are closed and never bothered to call. They closed on the 11th of March, I.e. 9 days ago. Still no call from them. The website is down, no apology note or instructions on what to do now. This should have been in the news! I think all affected customers should find a way to communicate in watch forums or Facebook groups to see how we can get our watches back.

I personally don’t think anyone should be worried about the company not returning watches as this would be a national scandal, and a criminal act not covered by liquidation protection. The main concern is that the watches get lost in the process of sending them back to their original owners, considering the chaotic situation they currently have. This might takes weeks! We all deserve an explanation and apology, and a re-assurance call. I hope this is sorted as soon as possible.

Steve at your White Rose Leeds store…

Steve at your White Rose Leeds store has just saved me over £200! His knowledge of watches and excellent customer service meant I didn’t proceed with the huge quote received from Tag to ‘repair’ my watch. It actually only needed a battery change and I had my watch sorted, waterproofed and working within the hour! Unlike the service from Beaverbrooks who sent my watch to Tag and I’ve waited over a month to get it back. Thanks again Steve. Will definitely recommend you to everyone I know.

Broken Rolex

I have had a broken Rolex watch for years, it had been sent off to Rolex and they wanted approx £3500 to fix so i've never got it repaired. Whilst walking past The Trafford Centre counter I asked a young gentleman who was really helpful and he said I was best to pop in to The White Rose centre in Leeds and ask here as the guy there is the person who would be able to help. I went over and spoke to Steve and I am so grateful I did as this man went over and beyond to help us. It cost me £750 for the repair and my watch is working perfectly, what a difference to the price I was quoted from Rolex. Steve kept me informed of what was happening every step of the way. Even when I went in to collect, all the staff here are clearly happy and go out of there way for you. I will be recommending you to everybody I know!

If you want a strap fitting for £17and it to fall off use watch hospital
And you want to take it to have the strap refitted and charge you £4.50
Use watch hospital
And you want to deal with somebody who thinks it funny that you would refuse to pay £4.50 to have strap refitted with new pin ( cost Approx 2p to buy on eBay) I would have expected new pins to be fitted as old ones have held strap on ten year
Or buy same strap on eBay £5.00-£7.00 or box of pins 8mm-22mm for £5
Don’t use watch hospital
