Had a great trip around the Greek islands on a small cruise ship, Caledonian Sky. However the ship is quite tired and in need of modernisation in some areas. The staff, food and wines were brilliant... See more

Excellent experience with APT Travelmarvel.
Spencer Scott our tour director Through the Rockies was excellent. He organised our group of 38 extremely well. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and patient. We learned a lot from him and enjoyed his anecdotes and playlist.
The coach driver, Sandeep, was also excellent and one could sense a very good rapport between him and Spencer
I would definitely suggest an additional hour, at least, longer at the first stop on Vancouver Island- the town with the fascinating murals, interesting shops and museum Half an hour is much too little especially as we did not need that extra time at the hotel in Victoria which it seemed we were rushing to get to by 4pm?
The Rocky Mountaineer although a wonderful train - comfortable, fabulous food and great service was a disappointment in terms of scenery. We saw more trees close up than mountains and therefore the extra we paid for the Gold Class glass ceiling was not value for money. Also Kamloops where we stayed overnight was very disappointing.
Butchard Gardens and our final dinner there was a highlight.
On the Zaandam, Holland America Line Alaska cruise Jeffrey the Travelmarvel representative was friendly, fun and very helpful.
This was an amazing experience for us as first time River Cruisers and we certainly were not disappointed. Everything was 5 star until the last evening when we were presented with a bill of just over 500 euros which was 200 euros over what we knew we had spent on extras. There were 9 items in total which were not incurred by us, one being a trip to Salzburg, an extra trip to the concert in Vienna, laundry, drinks etc. It was a this moment things went more than a little sour as the Tour Manager was adamant that we had been on the Salzburg trip. On checking his paperwork he realised we had not been on the trip, and also that they had charged us twice for the Vienna concert. We had never used the laundry service, and there were drinks we had never ordered. It was fortunate that we had kept all our bar receipts. What was so galling was that even after they realised that the mistakes were all down them, they never once offered us an apology.
As a result of this altercation, I missed the evening cruise viewing the lights of Budapest, and sadly it left a very bitter taste in my mouth as a result of their attitude.
It would be wrong for us not to give our trip 5 stars as everything else was way beyond our expectations, but they do need to improve their customer service approach in situations like we experienced.
All staff members deserve praise but we must mention Rohan who served at our table for most of trip. A truly exceptional young man, amazingly attentive, so thank you Rohan!
This was our first escorted bus tour. The trip was well planned out with regular breaks along the way to allow for photo opportunities. Our Tour director was good fun as well as very informative and professional. He kept everything running smoothly. The bus was clean and comfortable. The driver was also very professional and we felt very safe on our journey.
We experienced the usual quality of service on this trip. The program is varied, balanced and suitable for all ages. The means of transport, the hotels and cruisecabin accommodation are of the highest standard. The tourguides are knowledgeable and very helpful at all times.
Staff were excellent, guide on coach, a lovely lady,
Was very good and knowledgeable. Food was excellent
Disappointed we had to buy drinks, as last cruise Amsterdam to Budapest was included.
All the staff on the boat were excellent - always smiling, always helpful. Cabins were good for our needs and comfortable and very well maintained. The boat itself was well laid out - we enjoyed everything about our 2 weeks - great locations, great scenery, VG cruise directors and Noel and Sophie as the entertainment team kept everyone amused and entertained.
Small ship cruising is ideal. Deck space was good. Our tv never worked all week which was a disappointment as we wanted the news. Breakfast was very good. Some of the meals with frozen vegetables were not great. I’m sure fresh green beans steamed for example would really be just as easy to prepare in a small kitchen the bbq meat was all cold . Disappointed. The first nights dinner was not to be impressed by. The fish choice was a little tasteless. Fruits was delicious. Wines were excellent for lunch and dinner. Dessert was cake each night except for last night. Perhaps a little variety would work or ice cream on side. Room was tight but to be expected. The bathroom was fine.
The Capella is a beautiful ship & all the staff are fantastic and a huge asset to travel marvel. All meals were superb and wine was good and plentiful. However, that said a few things that could be considered for improvement. The air conditioning in the restaurant and function room was insufficient, it was roasting inside and out. Bedrooms were cool though. There was little consideration regarding mixing of passengers on tours. In previous cruises the cruise director was very insistent that a certain coach was for ‘gentiles’ ie those using walking stick or not great on their feet. My wife and I were towards the younger end of those on this particular cruise, indeed I’d suggest the average age was around 80 with some well into their 90’s which is fine, but when it’s 37 deg and little shade some people should be more cognisant of their capabilities in such extremes.
Thought the ending was unsatisfying Early exit from the boat understandable Transfer to Zargreb airport fine for those on a m fight but there should have been a night in the town (Hotel Dubrovnik ?) rather that the most inconvenient Pullman Very poor
Generally good. Small rooms. Very long journey to meet boat. 17 hour journey. Direct flight would make it shorter.
Just back from our first ever river cruise and based on our experience, it won't be the last!!
Absolutely brilliant from the booking process, the answering of questions I had before going, to the drop off at the airport, where the rep actually took us to the check in desk, not just dumping us at the door!
The cruise was fantastic, with free, guided tours of most places we stopped at. Boat was good, cabins comfortable, staff excellent as was food.
It would have been nice to have been given the next day's itinerary in paper form, but do understand the need to reduce use of paper!!
We had an awful transfer from Munich, it was 1.30 mins late and we had already waited 5 hours. 7 customers had got up before 3.0 am ! We had to wait for 2 people!
Then due to low water levels we were 20 hours behind schedule which meant getting buses to see the sites on our itinerary.. then due to logistical planning issues we missed one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.. this was disappointing.
The Hotel side was still excellent.. but a lot of the food was bland.
All of the staff on the ship were very hardworking and extremely polite and helpful. The food was superb and the trips were well planned and run by very good guides.
First River cruise and it exceeded my expectations. A new ship which was very comfortable. All crew went out of their way to make it an enjoyable cruise
Staff excellent, food great , price reasonable, however not really was for us as cruise at night and during the day boats tied up together so view often against a wall or into the boat next door . We were very pleased we went though .
Whole experience was enjoyable apart from the initial arrival at the airport and the near two hour wait for the coach transfer to the ship. Once on-board the staff could not have been any more friendly day to day. The food was generally very nice and always piping hot. The excursions were okay but it is difficult to see how they could be much better. Really enjoyed the cruise.
Fab accommodation excellent staff and attention to detail at all times.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cabins clean and well equipped plenty of storage.
Good food and plenty of it.
Lovely boat, great staff, good food, lovely cabins. Unfortunately, waste of time having French Veranda as always travelled at night so no views of scenery along river, apart from 11/2 hours through Wachau Valley section. When docked, again, no views as another boat, literally, right alongside. May as well had no window.
