⭐ 1 Star – Would give zero if possible

I paid a deposit for a storage building in September and specifically asked the salesperson, Dylan, before paying whether my deposit would be refundable if we ran into issues with permits. I was told it would not be a problem and that the deposit could be refunded if we could not proceed.

Shortly after placing the deposit, I began working with the city to obtain the permit. Every time I met one requirement, another requirement was added. After months of back-and-forth with the city, it became clear the project was not going to work right now.

I notified Ulrich and requested my refund. Since November, I have been repeatedly told that my refund would be processed, yet month after month nothing has happened. It is now March, and I still have not received the refund.

Trying to resolve this, I even offered a compromise and said I would purchase a smaller building instead if they would simply move my existing deposit to that order and give me a fair price. They offered discounts but then refused to apply my original deposit, saying I would have to pay another deposit.

Now I’m being told they moved the building from another location and therefore won’t refund the money—something that was done without my approval while they already knew I was having permit issues.

Over the past several months I have spoken with multiple employees, and each one could see in their system that the refund request had been submitted. Yet the issue still has not been resolved.

At this point, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through. I simply want the refund I was told I would receive.

I began the process with Ulrich Lifestyle in December 2023, and after many frustrating months, we finally completed the project.
The communication throughout the entire process was atrocious. If you were lucky enough to get someone to call you back, everything they said was a lie.
After the shed was built onsite, I discovered that, due to its size (12×20), a permit was required. When I inquired about this, they told me it was my responsibility to obtain the permits. Leaving such a crucial task up to the customer is absurd. I spent months going back and forth with them about permitting, which eventually required an engineer to approve the specs.
Fortunately, I anticipated issues and documented everything--I have recordings and emails of all the lies I was told. One of the main representatives who misled me is no longer with the company, according to the last person I spoke with. Oh, and I was told that l'm a "difficult customer/project" and that's why I don't hear back. I guess demanding an update after 8 attempts of Months of trying makes me a "difficult customer/project"
Beware of this company. There is no way they should continue their business practices this way. I strongly advise against using Ulrich Lifestyle.

The shed they built was darling! But then it rained and the shed leaks. No customer service after the sale!

The ONLY good thing I have to say about our Ulrich Cabin is that the wood is beautiful inside. Everything else is CRAP!
We have had issues with our Mitsubishi wall units since Day 1. Every year they have had to come out and replace something!
The Summer’s in Texas are miserable, and these units DO NOT keep our Cabin cool! It feels like it’s 85 degrees in our house all Summer long!
There is absolutely no AC in the bathrooms, nor are there vents. So your bathrooms will be miserably hot and humid!
The flooring (which they do not carry anymore) didn’t even hold up the first year, but they refuse to replace them.
We have had constant issues with our doors not being level, and you can see to the outside. They have sent several different people to try and level all of the doors, and they are STILL not fixed.
The shower, tub, any of the fixtures, ceiling units are cheap! Everything in this Cabin is CHEAP!
Our roof leaks, and every time we get rain, water leaks through our ceiling onto our living room floor, and the ceiling lights flicker because of it.
We have told them about this several times, and they never send anyone out.

You will have the worst time trying to get ahold of anyone at Ulrich! They don’t answer their phones, and they never call you back.

It has been an absolute NIGHTMARE owning an Ulrich Cabin!!!

My experience with this company has been absolutely horrible. They have taken my money and they pass the buck on and on, nobody takes responsibility for it. Nothing has been done. I started this process on Oct 6, 22, and to date, I have nothing, the loan has expired the permit was not completed, and they don't answer the phone and never contact you about anything. I have reported them to BBB. How can you take someone's money and not think it's wrong.

Let me start by saying, I love my Ulrich Shed. I had it completed by another company i.e., insulation, stucco, lighting. It is a great crafting room. Unfortunately, the sales staff, operational staff, and anyone else have ghosted me. I cannot honestly give a good review.

The reason is two-fold. The most important item I asked for was not done - the lighting! It had to be quality lighting due to sewing/quilting. It took two months and I finally had it done myself by another company.
The second item is that They started charging me before they completed the project. A big "flag" to not trust the company.

My experience with Ulrich was going fine, until it came time to actually build the shed. We had a signed contract, and an agreed upon build date. The date came and went and I got no response from them. Finally, about a month later, they told me they would not honor the contract and offered to build something different. I finally spoke with president of their California operations who said he would offer me a discount in the future to compensate me for the problem they created. This was a complete lie as he never offered any discount or even bothered to return my calls or emails. Really sorry that I wasted my time with this company.

Just had building built on my property today. Fantastic construction of my 8x8. Fair price even better constructed. I give Five Stars !!

Great barn but was very disappointed in the lack of urgency when it came to the finish up. Weather delayed from Wednesday to Friday for the install. The crew was very responsive on the build but still didn't have all materials to finish (not an installer issue). I called customer service and was assured the build would be finished on Monday morning. When I called back on Monday morning I was put on hold and transferred to a gentleman who said he would deliver Tuesday. He offered no explanation for the delay (again) and when I told him I had taken 3 days from work he just said he would be out to finish on Tuesday. An apology or explanation would have been preferred. Originally I had been telling friends this is the best deal in town. Now I am telling them be careful before purchasing from Ulrich Barns.

Thank you Steve for your help and guidance on our shed purchase. We love the shed and it looks great in our back yard. So glad we decided on letting Ulrich do all the work for us, this made our purchase super easy all we had to was open the gate and show the guys where we wanted the shed to be built. We will definitely recommend Ulrich and Steve to our friends.

My wife Cathy and I decided it was time to purchase a shed. It will be more of a woodworking and craft building than anything. We had some limitations in order to adhere to local ordinances for size and setbacks. We also needed a structure that would be appropriate for our side yard.

After looking at some of the products at nearby hardware stores and shed companies, we looked online at Ulrich. Long story short, I gave Steven Lockwood a call to set up a Saturday appointment at the Ulrich office and sales center in Cleburne. This was about a one hour drive from our house, one way. On this day, my wife could not come with me so I made the trip by myself. Steven was kind enough to walk the yard with me and look at models on that hot Saturday morning in July. We took a few photos on the cellphone. We looked at different styles, sizes and options. Steven made some great suggestions and put together a couple of proposals. After getting home, Cathy and I contemplated what would work best for our needs. We chose the Pro Series Lofted Barn with the extra tall side walls, two windows and a workbench. Before finalizing the decision, I drove back to Cleburne with Cathy so she could see what the finished product would look like. She was very impressed.

I called Steven back and we did the deal over the phone.

My next step was to secure a building permit. I soon discovered that we would need to submit a cross-section diagram of the foundation for the permit application. Steven immediately sent me a drawing by email. Fantastic! Next, we discovered that anchors would be needed. Again, not a problem, Steven immediately sent me a description of work for the permit application and we added this to the work order right away. So easy! Permit approved!

Fast forward to the construction date... first thing in the morning, Carlos (the production manager at their Cleburne factory) called to confirm the arrival time for the crew. They showed up and did a great job. Although their day was cut short by afternoon rains, they really got a lot done and they kept everything dry. The next morning, they were back and hard at it first thing. Afternoon rains again cut the day short. The day after that, one man came to the site to finish up some items, set the anchors, touch-up and clean-up. The entire crew (I did not get all of their names) did a phenomenal job and everything looks great.

We are so impressed with all aspects of this project! In retrospect, what strikes me more than anything is how good our building looks. The quality of the product is really quite exceptional. But more than that, there are many quality people at Uhrich and they lived up to their commitments in many ways.

I was so impressed with this company being able to obtain most of the information online, and then having the personal touch of a great sales team working with me to ensure I had the perfect shed. Steven Lockwood was such a great help and even took care of the issues I was having on his day off! This company is amazing! And what a SOLID product, the delivery was smooth and fast! Completely happy with my purchase and I would recommend this company any day! Thanks for the great experience!!!!

Steve Lockwood was my sales rep and was very helpful in meeting my needs. I was prepared to purchase a building from another supplier but decided to give Steve at Ulrich another opportunity to earn my business. I was glad I did as I got the building I needed and a fair price. Ulrich buildings are more expensive than the rest but in my mind worth the difference. If you are in the market for a portable building then give Steve Lockwood at Ulrich Buildings a call.

Excellent product from Ulrich Barn Builders. Steve Lockwood helped me pick the right size at the right price, and found an early opening in an otherwise backed up schedule to get my shed built quickly, as my garage needed desperately to be relieved of storage duties. The builders showed up on time, and even though it rained off and on well into the afternoon, they built the shed onsite, and did a great job.
Topped off with 3 yr intrest free financing, it was a great experience indeed.

For the past year or so, I've been shopping around for a storage shed to have in my back yard. I used to store my stuff at the local storage facilities around me but that quickly became a monthly financial drain. I looked around for a company that could build me one onsite. I've seen a few in my neighborhood and wished I had one as nice or nicer. I came across Ulrich Barns on Craig's List and I loved the sample photos they have of the storage shed's they've built. I called to inquire about it and Steven Lockwood was more than happy to answer all my 'shed' questions. In fact I asked so many questions that I felt embarrassed about it. Steven patiently answered all of them. I was also happy to learn that they had financing available which made me come to a decision easier! Bob came as scheduled and built me a beautiful shed in 7.5 hours! By himself!!! Overall, I am very happy with my new shed and looking forward to slowly fill it up! Steven Lockwood was a tremendous help in my decision making. He had no complaints about my several phone calls with several more questions! Bob was friendly and hard working! We all usually write reviews to voice out complaints but I'm writing this one to brag about the staff at Ulrich Barns! Now it's my neighbors who are suffering from Shed Envy!

I did a lot of research before purchasing a storage buildings from Ulrick Barns. This is not a cheaply built building. The building exceeds all my expectations. Steven Lockwood was my sales person / point of contact. He was available to answer my questions and would always follow up with me. I found him to be very customer centric. I would recommend Ulrick to my friends and family for all their storage building needs.

After looking at many sheds, big box stores, local dealers, and many more online, I finally settled on the Elite Craftsman from Ulrich. Since I am several hours away, I placed my order online with Steven Lockwood. He answered all of my questions, and subsequent questions that came up prior to the shed being delivered. The shed arrived ahead of schedule, and at the time of day I was promised. The quality is far superior than anything else I have seen, and it exceeded my expectations. The gentleman who delivered the shed, placed it exactly where I wanted it. Thank you Steven Lockwood for helping me through this process!

We wanted a storage building for our back yard! After many quotes and shopping we found Ulrich and Steven Lockwood! He was awesome and took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns about buying one! He made the buying process so easy and no hassle! Thanks Steven!

Team at Ulrich was fabulous. Steven L. was very helpful providing information needed from the city regarding permit. Gentleman that build the shed on site were very courteous and professional. Would definitely but from again.

I am a hobbyist potter. Making pottery can be a little messy and create some dust. I needed to get my work area out of my home. I looked a a couple of other vendors then took the time to drive to Cleburne (from east Ft. Worth) to take a look at Ulrich. The drive was worth it! I was impressed with the variety of styles, the features that were INCLUDED instead of being add-ons, and the overall quality. Steven Lockwood assisted through the entire experience, pointing out features, answering all questions, and making suggestions (but not being pushy!) He got my order set up that day, Ulrich even handled all of the city permitting leg-work. Approximately 4 weeks later, 2 young men completed the building in my back yard in about 7 hours! AND it is exactly as ordered! It really does look like an adult-size playhouse! I love it! Thank you, Steven.
