My Mrs typed in the gov.uk website to…

My Mrs typed in the gov.uk website to the letter straight from the V11 Vehicle tax reminder form. The SPONSORED website at the top of the page is this bunch of scamming ratbags. They hold no jurisdiction over UK Vehicle tax whatsoever!!!!!
The official Gov.Uk site is below it in the search results. The secure padlock on the website is not illuminated which means that they can say they use ssl software to encrypt your Bank Details FALSE!!!!!!
Apple blocked transfer of Bank Details thankfully. They get your details take 50p initial trial period charge for Vehicle info checks then you are contracted in to £5.95 a month for sweep f a.
If you have been duped contact your bank immediately and block any future payments!
Good Luck!

Scam artists, hit them where it hurts.

Like everyone else typed the dvla site as indicated on my renewal, clicked the top link and it was these scam artists they got 50p wasn't worth pursuing but cancelled the account and got my bank to block any future payments. Suggest everyone search for them on Google, make sure the listing says "ad" or "sponsored" at top left hand side, click it, when it goes to their site don't do anything else, congratulations you've just cost them a click fee from Google. You won't get your 50p back that they took but do this and you hit them where it hurts, in their pocket!

All looks legitimate - beware!

Appears at the top of a Google search on 'vehicle tax gov uk' So you think you are buying car tax and all they took off me was 50p. Apparently, because I gave them all my card details it isn't fraud! However, of course, they have taken my card details and 3 digit security, so can sell that on to other crooks. It even included a 'verified by visa' request and returned a code - all very convincing. Trying to get anyone at the bank to act upon it is hopeless, even though they waste their time stopping and re-issuing credit cards for everyone scammed. Impossible to get anyone to do anything about this.

BEWARE - this is not the DVLA!

Be very careful, this company appears above the DVLA link on Google. It's so easy to make a mistake & the initial page is very convincing.

Email sent to Vehicle Enquiry (I feel better getting this off my chest) -

I accidentally signed up to your scam whilst believing I was paying the DVLA for my car tax.

I've since been on trust pilot and see your fraudulent activity is proving profitable for you. You should be ashamed of yourselves, how this is legal is beyond me.

I did not create an account & am wary of clicking on the links in your email below as who knows what spyware or god knows what I could be linking to.

I have been in touch with my bank & they have blocked your account.

I would also appreciate you refunding me the £7.85 + 50p you've already managed to con out of me.

The world is a crappy enough place without scumbags like you preying on people.

Scam website posing as the DVLA

I typed in the gov website to tax my vehicle but somehow ended up on this site instead - it did not look suspicious and I paid my tax. 3 weeks later I got a red letter from the DVLA to state my tax was overdue and after reviewing my credit card statement found this site took a payment of £0.50 followed by a payment of £7.85 the following day! Barclaycard have now blocked further payments but can't refund as I "signed up for the service"

This is an absolute scam

This is an absolute scam. I accidentally used this service instead of the government website (naif google search mistake ) and I paid 50p to get one license plate checked and then didn’t realise it’s since November they have been charging me £7 a month for no reason they offer a scam service that is absolutely not worth the money have not sent me any email confirmation that I had entered into a membership or any receipt of the £7 amount cost. Please stay away. These are absolute thieves and they should be jailed.

Adendum: Ok - there is a redeeming feature, in that customer support works and, according to the email I received, they will refund the monies. If this happen (I will report if not), then it is a deceitful website that lures naff customers into a membership with recurring costs that most people would not be aware they are signing up to. But they do operate a "real" business, at least, which puts them ahed of the very worse scammers we all know about.

No idea how I ended up on this website…

No idea how I ended up on this website as I got the tax reminder from the dvla and went onto their gov.uk/ vehicle-tax that it mentions in the letter. Thought I paid for my car tax but after a few days of no charge on my credit card ,other than the 50p, I checked and had no reference number on their 'confirmation email' so done a Google search and ended up here. Also noticed on their email that I had signed up for a monthly subscription. Sounds and looks like a complete scam but does seem to be mentioned on the dvla website as legimate.

Joke either way.
