Please give a chance not to give any stars as this lot are the worst have had to deal with. Thanks to your reviewers and our bank(who alerted us)we were able to sort things out. The banks are obviously well aware of them as scammers. We realised from one reviewer that our car tax had not been paid. Thank you to him.We have now paid on the proper site. I also think that website has been taken down. We now check our banking everyday to make sure nothing else has been taken. We did try to cancel it on their website but don't know if successful. It was a nightmare. Once again thank you to everybody.

Keep well away from this company they are a load of scammers I went to tax my car online and somehow got on their website you don’t realise until you’ve entered your bank details by then they’ve taken 50p out of your account and you open an account with them they will then try to take £7.85 about a day later but luckily my bank picked it up cancelled it refunded my 50p and cancelled my card to stop them trying again
SCAMMERS - vehicle enquiry.uk (using .gov pages to fool us)
Luckily my bank didn't allow this payment through. They are somehow topping the google listings for tax/gov searches, and then have an identical front page that even says .GOV on it. Apparently they are not illegally operating, but they are scammers and they know it. When taxing your car, remember that you should be asked for a reference number (from your SORN document), not your number plate. I know people that paid these scammers for several months before they realised what they had done. GOOGLE, you allow scammers to top the search lists for government websites, sort your business out.
scum scammers at work
Paid my road tax in January and received a last chance reminder a month later. this scam company had intercepted my payment helped themselves to money from my account and set up a monthly payment increasing each time. Criminals that need to be seriously prosecuted
I was livid to receive a red reminder…
I was livid to receive a red reminder from the dvla to pay my road tax. I thought I’d paid it in January. I can’t believe I was scammed as I’m usually very careful. What was most concerning was my car could have been clamped and crushed as we were on holiday and I didn’t realise my car was untaxed. The website is a really good copy and should be taken down. I’m worried that they have my bank account information.
What is this Website?
I entered the website as described on the V11 and this website came up. It said 12 months was £165. The V11 said £520.
I finally found my way to the govt website to paythe right amount.
I also went to pay my car tax online
I also went to pay my car tax online, and got caught with this "vehicleenquiry.uk" it took 50p and then an email said I would have to pay monthly 7.85 !! I realised I had been duped and managed to cancel it straight away. I also realised that when I put in google the gov .uk/vehicle-tax I must have clicked on something else but how did I manage that!! I went back and then did do my tax, but worried I had put my card details on that page... I also have realised that it did not ask for the 16digit code on my renewal letter...what a fool I feel getting caught like that ....

How to unsubscribe
If you are here then then you had the same experience as those below, and are struggling to see how to unsubscribe.
1/ Find the site that you tried to pay with - to do this you will have to make as if you are trying to pay your tax again, so do a search. I could not get there by typing in the part-url that people quote in correspondence - and trustpilot won't allow urls in reviews.
2/ Click 'contact us',
3/ Select 'what can we help you with today',
4/ From the dropdown select 'cancel membership'. You will have to enter an e-mail address and then do a catchpa. You will be sent an e-mail with a logon link (no password), and when you logon it will state 'membership inactive'.
The site should be shut down.
My fault I s'pose
My fault I s'pose, but thought I was on Gov.UK and wasn't - although it was what I search for ... this company slyly sneaked in there and accepted my card details, charging an initial .50p and then 2 days later another £7.85 which I think is for an annual reminder to tax the car! there is a text number that you are s'posed to be able to use to text 'stop' - but it won't send from my iphone. Still puzzling how i was so stupid/careless - and how I'm going to stop further payments .... very cross!
WARNING Car tax scam!
WARNING - be careful when paying your car tax.
If you think you are paying your £165 car tax on a legitimate government website, namely vehicleenquiry[dot]uk - BEWARE - this website is NOT an official government website and they will not pay your car tax!
When their car hadn't been taxed, I immediately advised the person concerned to contact their bank as this is a well known practice, where a look-alike official website is set up to attract the unwary. The only website you should pay your car tax on is one ending .gov.uk where it is free and easy for the majority of cards - do not pay via any other website.
On contacting their bank as advised, the person involved was told exactly what I had told them above. Fortunately the bank were on the ball and had noticed two transactions going through, firstly a 'test transaction' for 50p, (a well-known trick used by scammers to check if a card is available or not), followed by a 'fee' charge of £7.85 and then they will take £7.95 per month for evermore unless stopped. Fortunately they hadn't taken the rest of the car tax cost and the bank have blocked the card and will attempt to recover what has been taken.
The rest of the reviews spell out the nature of the practice in no uncertain terms.
What a bunch of scum bags
What a bunch of scum bags
It’s a con ,
Thankfully. I noticed something was not quite right
Contacted my bank cancelled my card before they took anything,
The bank had heard of the company, numerous people like me ,
I am paying £7.95 x months and…
I am paying £7.95 x months and impossible to stop this, anyone know how t stop this scam?
Take this site down.
Like everyone else scammed into paying the initial 50p but have just noticed I’ve also paid them £7.95 for the last 6 months. Have tried to go into the site to cancel and tried every password I can think of to no avail. Asked them to send me a password link, they didn’t. Scoured everywhere for a phone number, there isn’t one. I like to think I’m pretty savvy when it comes to these things but obviously I’m not. Just off to my bank to try to deny the thieves any more free money from me. Site needs taking down.
I have been scammed
I have been scammed, I thought I was renewing my road tax with the DVLA, noticed £0.50 was taken out of my account on 7 February and another £7.85 on 10 - for what? Bank say I have to write to the company that have taken the money but I can't find their address. Any help would be most welcome as they may well end up getting more funds from m account.
Utterly disgraceful
Utterly disgraceful. Like others, I went on line to tax my car at the webb address given supplied This was absolutely in line with the directions which appeared in my Vehicle tax reminder form recieved from the DVLA a few days ago. I paid the full amount supplying my relevant card details I then grew suspicious recognising that the site did not offer evidenc of their authenticity in the receipt email. In short, my experience was exactly as others. I appeared to have paid just 0.50p for a service which had nothing what so ever to do with vehivle taxation and which was an initial payment for something which I absolutely did not require. The 0.50p incidentally, was for an initial 'trial' period payment with future monthly payments in excess of £7 or so.
How on earth can the DVLA allow such a devious misrepresentation of it's organisation? Whilst 'Vehicle Enquiry' may well exist as a bona fide business organisation it has all the hallmark features of a nasty scam. They clearly run away from the possibility of receiving a telephone call (impossible to find a number)) even though they claim to be available from 9.00am to 5pm. Monday to Friday I too have had to replace my relevant card. I am taking legal advice!
Same as all the others
Same as all the others, screwed when taxing the car.
Next time I’m in the Manchester area I’ll pop in past Verity and Peter for my 50 pence.
Car Tax - WRONG SITE!!
We did the same - thought we were paying for Road Tax and repeatedly being told that our card cannot be accepted. In the end, we gave up, retried the GOV.UK website and successfully taxed our car. BUT, we’ve taken no chances and immediately phoned our bank to cancel payment cards and we will continue to check our account for spurious charges for the next few weeks.
We have also reported the website to DVLA.
Stay away from Vehicle Enquiry UNLESS it clearly says GOV.UK and has all the GOV.UK links and screens.
