Viaggiare Rent - Catania Reviews 

The staff at Catania Airport were friendly and efficient. Car was perfect and collection and drop off was straightforward with no problems at all. Have rented cars many times abroad and this was my very best experience thankyou.

3 hours before picking up the car, I received a call from the rental company,
They informed me that they didn't have a car to bring me, and they didn't have a replacement car.
Although I explained to her that I was landing at 2:00 in the morning with two babies and I had no way to get to the hotel,
which is about an hour's drive from the airport, she answered that she had no way of helping me.
The service was terrible.

Upon arrival they made us pay an extra €40 because we were greater than 1.5 hours late for pick up even though our contract said 2 hours. The car was fine but the radio wouldn't work without a password that we asked several times for during our week's rental. We never received it. Won't be using them again.

I am satisfied with their service. Very polite stuff in Catania. There were no cars in the website and we didn't even book it but they found best option for us. They work with Israelian driving licence. They were answering all my questions, take notes in Italian and English to be understood. Thank you for your work. Im sure I will be happy to rent a car here again.

We rented a car from Catania airport. To pick up the car, we had to wait almost one hour, lot of customers, only one lady at the desk and an extreme complicated check in procedure.
Picked up the car in a very dark yard, difficult to find thee car, difficult to find exit. Hardly no possibility to check the car on damage.
At return, first complain was, we did not top up fuel. On 266 km, we topped up 20 liter diesel in a small car, this should do. They accepted this claim , but no we had to pay for a scratch on rear bumper over 300 EUR, although this bumper was already scratched before on an other position (as on rental agreement). No documents provided, no invoice for damage. Very difficult to reach.
I am expecting the answer, as many other replies, Viaggiare rent can not judge this comment because they don't have all data available. Strong recommend to aavoid this very customer unfriendly company

Please see the 'response' from Viaggiare Rent below. Standard, wiping hands of any wrong doing. Obviously the consistently poor reviews speak for themselves. We hire cars several times a year and have never come unstuck. Please don't waste your money with this company.

The car was excellent and the pick up was smooth. I was full of good feelings and was thinking that I'd always use it for future trips.

However, when I returned the car, the very rude lady, having checked the car over, informed me that the key would not work in the door lock properly and that there had obviously been forced entry. There was absolutely no physical evidence of this and the car had been parked outside of ahotel reception for the entire time it was hired, in front of a receptionist.

I carefully videoed the car before I took it but did not think to check the key in the lock of the door (who ever uses that anyway - we just press the button on the key fob to unlock the doors, right?).

The vile-tempered woman on the desk insisted that it had happened on my watch. Of course I had no way of proving otherwise and had a flight to catch. There was no arguing with the woman and she proceeded to charge me €500 (actually held onto €500 of the €900 deposit). The car hire was only €52!

The very same thing was happening to the guy in front of me. Again, he was even later for his flight (because the office opens at 8h30 - the latest in the airport - no one could actually hand their keys back in good time). I felt absolutely nauseated by the whole thing and utterly fleeced. A total con.

Save yourself some serious stress and money and book somewhere else.

Terrible company, sent my husband an invoice, debited the money for the invoice and never reversed the initial €900 hold, so essentially nearly double charged for a vehicle not worth the invoice. Absolute dogs. Do not use.

Arrived, massive queue, when got to the desk was told we were too late for our booking and they had ran out of cars. Utterly despicable. Should be shut down

On July 17th we rented a car from the rental company Viaggiare Rent - Catania for five days (order number DC-3630281-JNPR). Unfortunately, on the evening of July 18th we had an accident. Already at 9:00 a.m. on August 19, we called the company to ask them to come change our car because it was very difficult to continue the trip with the car. We did not get help, the representative who answered us the first time said that we would arrive alone at the company because no one would come to take the car. We were three hours away from Cephalo to Catania, despite several emails and correspondence inquiries were not answered either by phone or SMS. It wasn't until 1:00 PM that we received an email asking us several questions... after four hours of trying to get an answer from the company. We gave up and had to drive the car with a smashed windshield back to the company.
When we arrived we received very bad treatment and a lack of understanding.
First, they charged us a very high compensation for the accident in addition to the 900 euros we committed in advance. If there is damage to the car, they charged us another 820 euros.
Even though we paid for a car for 5 days, they did not give us a replacement car. The answer was we don't have a car for you. I claimed that we still had 3 days left to return the vehicle, but we did not receive an answer.
We had to continue the trip without a car. Unfortunately, the rental company took advantage of the fact that we do not speak the language well and do not understand.
They simply robbed us of the car rental for 5 days in addition to the high compensation they charged for the accident.
Fortunately, we took out insurance with the Discover Cars company, which gave us good treatment and reliable service.
In conclusion, do not approach Viaggiare Rent - Catania, they are not trustworthy, take advantage of tourists and steal their money. Recommends the insurance company - Discover Cars.

This is the most horrible company I have ever been. The woman behind the desk was extremely rude and aggressive (I read it more often in the reviews). They desperately want you to buy a casco (fully) insurance and make you scared if not do so (even when you have other insurances already).

No check together for damage when pick-up the car. They say that scratches smaller than 3cm or less were no problem. When drop-off the car the same rude and aggressive lady pointed out 2 small scratches less then 1cm on the back-bumper and charged me for them.

The tone of voice, no explanation and the SUPER rude way of talking to us (yelling) makes it not possible to get a solution. Because we have to catch the airplane and there was no time left, the only thing she could say was that she will took the money from the credit card.

Do not rent a car at this place!!

When I arrived to Sicily i dindn't have credit card, only debit card. Worker of your company calculate that rent a car with debit card will cost me irrational sum of money, about 235 euro diffrence between credit and debit card - about 225 euro versus 460. I went to your competition at the airport and they have difference about 240 euro versus 270 euro so I left my advance at your company and rent a car in your competition company. This diffrence is in purpose to hold my advance. When i was waiting in line of customers everybody was pieced of on your company and was arguing with your worker.

Keep way from these thieves.
They don't check the conditions of the car when you pick up and even if you ask to put in the contract some scratches or damages they say "just take a photo", but at the end the photos are completely neglected, they will make you pay for damages from the past that you didn't do.
They also say that scratches greater than 3cm from the past are recorded in the contract before you pick up. Lies again! In the contract there were no scratches or damages recorded, but the car was plenty of scratches greater than 3cm. They just use the same excuse "just take a photo".

After this review, you will just come with your standard reply "your review is simply aimed at damaging the image of our dear company bla bla bla" ... but people know who is saying the true and who is trying to persuade through lies.

Be aware this company will charge you for everything unless you buy a "casco" insurance ( fully com) on top of that they will give you a car with no petrol or little and on the contract they put down half tank. When you'll bring the car back youll probably leave quite a lot of petrol because it's impossible to bring the car back with a red light ...do the scam goes on to the next customer. If you complaint you might get a voucher...that you will never use..

You have all the documents in PDF that I sent to you via trustpilot , you never replied to my emails when I asked you why the contract says that "there is half tank of petrol" when the tank was empty? and now you have the guts to lie again .

Thiefs ! Very very rude and aggressive....they avoid to check the car at first in order to find you anything possible When returned the car to hold your money and charge your card for something you didn t do and not existing ! Classic small rent companies to charge you money ! Never rent a car from this people. I called the cops but I have to go to a lawyer to find justice and have my money back !

We rented a car in Catania. The car was brand new, a beautiful 500, clean and perfect.
The staff was nice and prepared. At the return we found Serena very nice.
