Booked car for 2 weeks, they came out as cheapest. Very pleasant lady at reception, took me to car, practically new, 3395kms on the clock, damage free. Returned today after 2 weeks. Very pleasant male came to see car with us, confirmed no damage, fuel tank full, said refund from credit card few days. Car taken away and returned short while later having been washed and vacuumed and next customer took it away. Really pleased with them, can't recommend enough. All cars in their parking area looking pretty new, good range of choice and good staff. Thank you!

Beware of this company, they will scam you!

I rented a car from Viaggaire car hire.

When returning the car, there were no members of staff, even though it was 2pm on a weekday. I called the staff and they told me to leave the keys in the deposit box.

I made a video of the car, to show there was no damage – in case something happened later.

Approx 2 hours later, I received an email detailing “damage” to the car. Viaggaire sent images of the hub-caps with brand new, shiny scratches on them. This is odd, because we had not cleaned the car and had driven it on the motorway – my video shows the car with normal, highway dirt and dust.

When I compared the images from Viaggaire and the video I made on the same day, they did not match.

I contacted Viaggaire, both the local office and the head office and had no reply from either.

Viaggaire charged my credit card for “damages”, which I suspect were committed by members of Viaggaire staff in order to get more money from customers.

If you do a quick Google search, you can see that this has happened to many customers in the past.

I would highly advise you to avoid this car rental company.

Edit: the company waited 2 months before replying to this review. They have never replied to any emails I have sent them.

I have already contacted my credit card company who have supported me with this.
They said that there is enough evidence that Viaggiare have made a false claim of damage.

So, to reiterate, avoid this company.

I received a car with 8 different damages, of which 5 were not marked on the check out sheet; I needed to go back to the office to highlight these. They accepted and marked 4 more, saying the 5th was too small (less than 3 cm) and that they were not dealing with that. There was also less fuel in the car than what was stated in the contract. I returned the car in exactly the same condition as it was at the time of pick up. I left it in their enclosed car park less than an hour before they opened. After checking, they miraculously "found a scratch" of about 4 cm on the car, and guess what - it was right next to the only dent which they previously denied to mark on the check out sheet. Needless to say that at this point the same dent in question has suddenly been judged large enough to deal with, so they shamelessly charged 427€ (!!) for the dent and for the scratch altogether, despite of me having provided them with photo and video evidence to prove that the dent was already there when I picked the car up and that the scratch was still not there when I dropped the car off. I asked them multiple times to release the CCTV footage of their car park to let me see what happened to the car in those 56 minutes while it was not under my supervision, because I had a good reason to suspect a fraud. But they simply ignored me. The only communication coming from the company was that the car was under my responsibility until they checked it.
The whole experience translates as I should be glad that they didn't smash the car with a hammer and that they didn't take all my 1300€ excess away as a result, since this could also have been an option for them...

I’ve rented a car for one week. I found Serena at the desk and she was really helpful and customer oriented, she suggested to purchase an extra coverage for the car which is definitely very convenient for sicily and accidental damages! The car was clean and great conditions. If I’ll ever be in Catania I will for sure rent with Viaggare Rent again! Antonella and Antonio at the drop off were helpful and super fast with check-in procedures. BRAVO guys!

I would give 0/5 if I could. The worst car rental company I’ve ever used!!!
You are not able to rent a car without credit card, 6 days cost us 500€ For small fiat 500! They oblige you to take full insurance…
And in the end they charged us 15€ for returning the car 10 minutes later, that´s absurd!!!
The staff is arrogant and incompetent!
Terrible experience!
