If I could give this company a zero , I would. Horrific rental experience at Verona last summer. My husband and I arrived with our two young children all excited to collect car hire at the Viaggiare Rental desk and firstly we waited in a queue with all the other holiday makers. Eventually a young lady appeared from behind the counter and then what amazed us was that all the families and couples that were there were all refused car hire saying that they booked incorrectly and when it came to our turn, the lady at the desk said we were booked on the wrong date. After much arguement, she later said ok, she was wrong, then refused our credit card sating it had not enough validity on it. I think only one group were successful with their booking. We went accross the hall to another car hire company and they could not have been more helpful , so I would advise everyone to not book with Viaggiare rental as they never even gave us our booking deposit back. Horrible start to a holiday
I dont recommend. I felt cheated. The clerk issued longer period than i asked, I did not check all details and they did not want to return the money. I explained them it was not car returned earlier -we would not order for longer becuase next day we had a flight back, but still they did not want to return money for days not used. Not fair at all. And they were angry that I asked for proper settlement
I booked a car several months in advance for a long weekend in the Province of Venice. Upon arriving at the Viaggiare Rent check-in desk, I was informed by the customer service representative (possibly the owner) that I would not be permitted to collect the vehicle because I did not have a physical credit card. I had my card available digitally on my phone and sufficient cash to cover any charges; the deposit required was only €150.
I explained that I had rented vehicles in this manner previously without any issues, and that I had exchanged emails regarding my reservation in which no mention was made of the requirement for a physical credit card. If this condition is so essential, it should be clearly highlighted in the same way as the driving licence requirement.
In response, the representative spent several minutes attempting to locate the relevant clause in the contract, stating that he had written it himself. This did nothing to resolve the situation and ultimately left me stranded at the airport at nearly 11:00 pm without a vehicle.
As a result, I was forced to pay €350 to hire a car from another rental company, which was my only available option at that time.
This experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable.

Don't dare to be held up at passport control. No refund, no option to get the car. I feel scammed.
They clearly could have done something. On occasions you have to queue longer than an hour.
Edit: as stated in the review, the one hour policy is ridiculous, considering the rental is on an airport where your customers have no control over their arrival time.

We were charged a significant amount on our credit card without justification after renting a vehicle from Viaggiare Rent, and based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company.
We rented a van from Viaggiare Rent at Venice Airport. The vehicle was handed over to us in an extremely dirty condition, both inside and outside. Due to the poor cleanliness, it was practically impossible to properly verify the vehicle’s condition at the time of pickup.
When returning the vehicle, we explicitly offered the on-site representative of Viaggiare Rent the opportunity to inspect the car immediately. This was declined, and we were instructed to simply return the keys, with the explanation that the vehicle would be inspected later. No inspection was carried out in our presence, and no issues or damages were mentioned at the time of return.
Despite this, Viaggiare Rent later charged us for alleged damages that we did not cause and could not have caused. The most serious alleged damage concerned the windshield. We did not observe any damage to the windshield during the rental or at the time of return, yet we were later informed that the damage was supposedly so severe that the entire windshield would need to be replaced. This was the largest single charge.
In addition, the mileage reported after the rental does not match reality. We calculated our actual route afterward and drove at most approximately 400 km, yet the company claims that we drove 909 km. This does not correspond to our actual driving and raises serious concerns about the accuracy of the company’s post-rental documentation and the reliability of the damage claims.
We submitted a formal complaint and a detailed response to Viaggiare Rent. The company’s reply was disappointing: instead of addressing the substance of our complaint, it relied solely on general contractual clauses. Viaggiare Rent failed to address the return procedure, the poor cleanliness of the vehicle at pickup, the alleged damages which we did not cause (including the windshield), or the incorrect mileage recorded after the rental.
The matter is now being taken forward through official channels.
Update (dated 30 January 2026):
The company has replied to this review with a generic message asking us to contact customer service. However, we would like to clarify that we have already contacted the company and submitted a written complaint regarding this matter.
Despite this, the company has not responded to the complaint or to our subsequent messages, nor has it addressed the questions or issues we raised. At this point, the company is not responding to our communications at all, and there is no indication that they are genuinely willing to investigate or resolve the matter.
The generic reply posted on Trustpilot therefore does not reflect the actual situation, in which the issue has already been formally brought to the company’s attention without receiving a substantive response.
For this reason, the matter is now being pursued through official channels.
Update (dated 6 February 2026):
The company took a full five days to respond to our previous message sent to them, yet still failed to address the substance of our complaint. Their response did not deal with the issues we raised, but instead once again relied solely on general Terms and Conditions.
In this case, the Terms and Conditions are being used to justify a credit card charge regardless of how the vehicle return and inspection were actually handled. Our actual questions remain unanswered.
Unfortunately, this reinforces the impression that the company is either unwilling or unable to handle the matter on a case-by-case basis, and instead refers to contractual clauses in a routine manner while the reported discrepancies are left entirely unaddressed.

Simone was very nice, explaining everything calmly . Definitely I would recommend your company ,at least at Marco Polo airport. Just wish all the stuff is friendly like him in the other airports. Booked through Booking.com, paid extra for damage insurance. Yet, upon arrival, we were pressured to pay another £300+ for insurance we already had.
The staff were rude, dismissive, and careless. We spotted unmarked damage on the car, called them, and were told “don’t worry" ?
Their attitude ruined our peace of mind throughout the trip.
Customer service? Nonexistent. They seriously need training.
Worst experience I’ve had in Europe.
Pros:
Cars are close to the airport.
Vehicles worked fine but were handed over dirty.
Simone (or Simonie) was the only decent human there—kind and helpful during return.

Wish I could give them zero stars. Our flight from London to Venice - Monte Carlo Airport was delayed on the tarmac and as a result we were 90 minutes late to the Viaggiare desk on 1st floor of the airport. They said they had cancelled our car as it was a “no show” and they had no cars to rent us. Staff were also very rude and unhelpful and said they had the right to do that if we were 1 hr late. They seemed to enjoy the pain they were putting us through. We had to rent a car from elsewhere on the spot and at great expense.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at your Venezia Airport office.
When I booked two cars via Booking.com, I paid an additional amount for premium insurance. However, upon collecting the keys, both receptionists (a man with coloured eyes and a lady) placed us under considerable pressure to purchase additional insurance from your company. They insisted that without this extra cover, we would be liable for €900 per car in case of any excess damage, totalling €1,800, and so on.
I explained that I had already paid extra for comprehensive cover at the time of booking, but they continued to pressure us. While waiting later to collect the car keys for our return, I noticed that other customers were not subjected to the same treatment, suggesting inconsistency and unfairness in how customers are handled.
Additionally, there was significant damage on the passenger side of one of the cars, which was neither recorded nor highlighted on the Rental Agreement. We conducted our own inspection, took detailed photographs, and sent them before driving the vehicle. This lack of transparency feels deeply concerning and misleading.
Upon returning the keys, the same male receptionist questioned why I had come to the office instead of leaving the keys with the cleaner in the car park—despite being clearly instructed at collection to return them to the office. While waiting, I observed that other customers were returning their keys at the office without issue, so I fail to understand why we were treated differently.
Furthermore, he called me back as I was leaving to ask whether I had cleaned the car. I explained that both cars were handed to us in a dirty, uncleaned condition, and we returned them in the same state. Such unnecessary and inappropriate questioning was not directed at other customers, which left me feeling singled out and disrespected.
I am highly disappointed with the overall service and the unprofessional conduct of your staff. Based on this experience, I would not recommend your company to others.
I have retained all photographs showing the condition of the vehicles at collection, which can be provided upon request.

Terrible experience in Marco Polo airport. The man on the desk clearly do not know how to do his job. We had a company credit car under our name and he did not understand that it is not necessary to be the administrator of the company to use the car. We could rent the car and we had to find another car rental with professionals on the desk. NEVER AGAIN. Don’t rent with them, they will ruin your holidays.

We were overcharged for both roadside assistance and damage to the vehicle that we did not cause. Viaggiare have so far ignored our emails of complaint. We took out additional insurance cover when making the booking but this still didn’t cover accidental lockout which in the policy wording it says it includes.
Smooth pick up and drop off, all conditions were clear. The car was in a good state. Service questions were easily answered.

I had a bitter experience! In the signed contract, the company did not record all the numerous scratches on the bodywork and also inside the car there were many damaged marks on the car seats! For this reason, I was unfairly not refunded €150. I think everything was planned to steal from the client!

Good service end-to-end, and pretty fast. Just that be careful by taking pictures of the car when you don't buy full insurance, as the chance of being accused for pre-existing damage is high.
