Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 150 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the company's subscription practices, particularly regarding the cancellation of "lifetime" memberships without prior notice or explanation. Customers also reported issues with the service itself, finding it unreliable and often not working as expected, especially with streaming services. The customer service was frequently described as unresponsive and unhelpful, leaving many feeling ignored and frustrated. The primary concern for many customers revolved around the company's decision to revoke lifetime subscriptions after an acquisition, with people feeling that the company failed to honor previous agreements. This led to a strong sense of betrayal and a lack of trust in the company's commitment to its customers.

Another one robbed of "lifetime" sub

Another one robbed of "lifetime" sub. The service was unreliable anyway; OpenVPN profiles never worked in a router. Those who are thinking of buying their annual/3 year memberships must have blind faith.

Edit: Just seen the ChatGPT response - so much for “We’ve been doing our best to respond to every message” in previous messages

Thanks for the honest feedback — and for giving VPN Secure a try, even if the experience didn’t meet your expectations.

We hear you: the loss of your Lifetime account feels like a broken promise, and we accept that many users won’t give us another chance. The OpenVPN router limitations are also something we’ve been working to improve — but we understand that’s too little, too late for many former LTD users.

Whatever you choose going forward, we hope you find a provider that delivers what you need — and earns your trust.

An absolute shower of a company - may they reap what they've sown

What VPN Secure has pulled here is nothing short of daylight robbery. They've shamelessly ripped up lifetime subscriptions, hiding behind pathetic excuses about being a "small team" and not knowing about these obligations. Absolute nonsense - any competent business doing proper due diligence would have uncovered these subscriptions. The truth is they knew exactly what they were doing, waited two years to avoid immediate backlash, then stabbed their customers in the back when they thought they could get away with it.

Their attempt to justify this betrayal by comparing themselves to other companies is insulting. Offering existing customers the "privilege" of paying again after stealing what they'd already rightfully purchased is the height of corporate greed. If they had any integrity, they would have honoured the subscriptions or at least offered proper compensation - not this pathetic discount that still requires victims to line their pockets again.

This isn't just unethical - it's almost certainly illegal. Under UK consumer law, goods and services must be as described, and "lifetime" isn't ambiguous terminology. Similar laws exist all around the world — but of course, they've conveniently relocated to the Bahamas, haven't they? A nice little tax and legal haven where they know full well no ordinary customer can afford to challenge them legally. How very telling that a company supposedly built on "trust" has run away to a jurisdiction where they're virtually untouchable.

The sheer arrogance of their communication is breathtaking. They actually have the nerve to position themselves as the good guys in this farce! There's nothing ethical about taking money for lifetime access then welching on the deal when it suits them. Their actions show nothing but contempt.

After seeing all the well-deserved 1-star reviews, I can only hope this disgusting behaviour costs them dearly. Companies that treat their customers with this level of disrespect don't deserve to survive.

Here's hoping they go bust and serve as a warning to other businesses considering similar scams.

Thank you for the detailed feedback — we can’t deny how strongly you feel, and we won’t try to dismiss that.

You’re absolutely right that the term “lifetime” carried weight, and many users feel that trust was broken. We’ve never pretended this would sit well — and we’re not claiming to be the “good guys.” We’ve explained what happened not to seek sympathy, but to provide the facts:

We purchased the infrastructure and brand in an asset-only deal — not the company entity, and not the contracts or payment records. No LTD customer data or funds were included, and we legally didn’t assume the liabilities. Still, we chose to keep those accounts running for two more years at our expense — not to delay backlash, but to avoid immediate disruption while we tried to rebuild the service.

We understand that from your side, it may look like a calculated betrayal. We can only say that wasn’t the intent — and we haven’t hidden from the fallout. We’ve responded to every single message, email, and review, knowing full well that most wouldn’t accept our explanation.

You’re free to walk away — and if we’ve lost your trust, we accept that. But this wasn’t a scam, and it wasn’t done lightly. It was a messy, difficult decision made by a very small team trying to save a product — not exploit its users.

Stopped Working out of the blue

Stopped Working out of the blue. When Checking around there was absolutely no information, no update on the website, no email. 2 Years later they popped out of the blue saying that they bought a company 2 years ago and never knew about lifetime deals. This is not how it works. When you buy a company you buy everything. They simply lie to customers that it was not a good profit-making solution whereas the Flippa listing showed a healthy monthly profit rate. Very bad business and outright gaslighting and malpractice. Will never trust of buy anything from them.

Thanks for sharing your experience — we understand your frustration.

You're right that things seemed to go dark, and that was a mistake on our part. When we bought the assets of VPN Secure in 2023 (not the full company), we didn’t receive any customer contracts, payment records, or liability details — including Lifetime Deals. Still, we chose to keep those accounts active for two more years, fully at our own cost.

The Flippa listing did show revenue, but it was based on monthly subscribers — not Lifetime users. We didn’t receive a single cent from any LTD purchase, and we weren’t legally given the rights or responsibilities for those past deals. That’s not gaslighting — that’s just what happened.

We respect your choice to move on, and we’re sorry it ended this way.

We hear you — and yeah, that timing definitely didn’t help.

We sent the follow-up not to sell, but because many users never received the original notice, and we didn’t want anyone to be left wondering what happened.

We know the optics of this are rough, and the offer’s not for everyone. But it wasn’t about “getting people back” — it was about giving clarity and at least some path forward, even if most won’t take it.

Still, we get why it rubbed you the wrong way. Thanks for calling it out.

Unsatisfied customer, don't trust them

If you buy a company, you get the debts as well as assets. Not recognising our lifetime memberships shows how crooked the owners are, how easy their willing to take money without honoring the contractual obligations.

Thanks for your message — and we understand why this feels like a breach of trust.

The reality is: this wasn’t a full company purchase. It was an asset-only acquisition — meaning we bought the infrastructure, but not the legal entity, contracts, or payment records. That’s not an excuse, it’s a legal distinction that shaped what we were actually responsible for.

Even so, we kept all Lifetime accounts active for two more years at our own cost, because we knew how bad it would feel to just pull the plug.

We respect your position — and the frustration behind it. We're not here to convince you otherwise, just to clarify what happened and continue answering users openly.

Anothe user Cut-off with no notice

Fired up my vpnsecure application the other day to find my life time subscription needed renewing. Received an email a week later saying, oops we meant to send you an email.

Poor, and to be honest it wasn't a great vpn service anyway as it never worked with any streaming services.

I'd go with another vpn service.

Thanks for your honest feedback — and we understand why the experience left a bad taste.

You’re right: the initial communication should have come sooner. We attempted to notify users via email, but given the age of the list and a 20%+ bounce rate, many didn’t receive the message — and we take responsibility for that.

As for the service quality, we hear you. It wasn’t optimized for streaming, and we’ve been working on major infrastructure changes — but we know that doesn’t help if trust is already broken.

We respect your decision to move on, and we appreciate you giving VPN Secure a try — even if it ended this way.

We hear your frustration — and we understand why this feels dishonest from the outside.

But we didn’t pretend. The Lifetime subscriptions were not disclosed during the sale, and no contracts, payment history, or revenue were transferred to us. It was an asset-only acquisition — not a company takeover — which left us with the infrastructure, not the obligations.

Even so, we kept those accounts running for two more years at our own cost. That might not change your opinion, but we’re not hiding. Just explaining what actually happened — clearly and publicly.

We understand why this feels infuriating — especially when the term “lifetime” carries weight.

But we didn’t “cancel because we didn’t know.” We inherited a service through an asset-only deal, without access to contracts, payment records, or even the legal entity that sold those Lifetime subscriptions. That doesn’t mean you have to like it — but it does mean we didn’t have the option to “honor” what we never received.

Still, we kept those accounts active for two more years at our own cost. Not because we had to — because we knew this would sting, and we tried to soften the blow. It clearly wasn’t enough, but we’re still here, owning it.

Very bad VPN with worse owners

I already forgotten about this VPN it stopped working a few years ago, never bothered to fix it, was a bad deal with bad service. Bought this at stacksocial, some things are good, some are bad but it kind of worked.
Not the first time it happened, PureVPN pulled the same trick, but service was decent and lasted 5 years, converted my account with several months in advance, a strong meh, 50 per 5 years is ok, no big deal, tried vpnsecure several times and it was spotty at best, not even worth the effort to fix it. I think I bought it for 30 or 40 I don't even remember but it was not worth it. Add more services and charge for them maybe? Add a plus option and keep the basic service? Even chatgpt knows this was a bad idea.
Either these guys entered a challenge to get as many 1 star reviews and if that is the case, congrats and keep the ball rolling, you are amazing at it and you won or the worst implementation to do a money grab.
Several mails to explain why they already breached the contract with you is bad enough that even if I already forgot about this guarantes a 1 star review. Most of the cancelled accounts already moved on because the service was bad, why annoy so many people and cancel inactive accounts? Some of your users are engineers, try a better explanation, it didn't make any sense. Time to capitulate and abandon the brand either way, not coming back after this. Posting this review just for being part of the meme and to clarify yes I owned a lifetime account bought in 2017, used it maybe 5 or 6 times. Using another lifetime VPN to post this review that actually works I have Windscribe, VPN unlimited and Ivacy, they might pull this trick someday, but nothing would be as epic crash as this,

Thanks for the detailed (and honestly, pretty entertaining) write-up — we hear you.

We completely understand why this feels like one of the worst-handled transitions out there. You’re right: many people had already stopped using the service years ago, and bringing it back into their inbox with bad news wasn't exactly a winning strategy.

The intent behind the email wasn’t to dig the hole deeper — just to finally explain what happened and give former users a clear heads-up. But we get that, for many, it just reopened old frustrations.

We’ve learned plenty from this — too late for you, perhaps, but still valuable. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, even if it’s part of the meme now.

We understand why this feels like a betrayal — and we know no explanation makes it right from your perspective.

When we acquired the infrastructure in 2023, we didn’t receive contracts, payment data, or disclosure about existing Lifetime subscriptions. We weren’t trying to dodge responsibility — we simply didn’t have the legal framework or revenue to continue those accounts indefinitely.

That said, we still kept Lifetime users online for two additional years, entirely at our own cost, before making the difficult call to shut them down.

We know it’s not the outcome you hoped for, and we respect your decision to move on.

Former lifetime member

Former lifetime member. Getting shut off abruptly was not a great way to introduce them as the new owners. The lifetime customers are suffering due to their oversight. I understand the former company didn't divulge that info, but you'd think they'd look at the numbers and users using their service and check it out. Their bs email asking for more money and adding what looks like a fake customer excited to pay more was irritating. The new owners offered a discounted plan for former lifetime members which really wasn't a discount at all. If it was, it isn't competitive. I really don't think they'll last much longer. My advice is to look around. You'll find better prices and service elsewhere.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback — we understand your frustration, and you're right: the shutdown and follow-up could’ve been handled better.

We genuinely didn’t receive records about Lifetime accounts when we acquired the infrastructure, and yes — we should’ve looked deeper, sooner. That delay is on us. When we realized what had happened, we kept those accounts active for two extra years, hoping to avoid a sudden cutoff, but clearly, that still wasn’t enough.

As for the email — it wasn’t meant to insult anyone’s intelligence or fake enthusiasm. We’ve been doing our best to respond to every message, own the mistake, and offer a path forward. We know it hasn’t landed well for many, and we respect your decision to look elsewhere.

Just like all the other users, I had the lifetime subscription as well. I too lost access to my subscription but it wasn’t recently. I lost access around 2023. I never received those 2 years free that they claiming they gave lifetime users. My services were just cut off. I attempted to contact them multiple times through customer service and received no response. Now I get an email asking me to pay for service I already paid for and hasn’t worked for the last two years. Why would anyone do that? Do not trust this company with your money or your data. They wont honor your agreement and will end up cutting off your service without any communication. Just stay away. Go with any number of other services that will actually honor their contractual obligations. (And yes they are yours, regardless of whether the purchases of these contracts were with you or a previous company.)
