Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 150 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the company's subscription practices, particularly regarding the cancellation of "lifetime" memberships without prior notice or explanation. Customers also reported issues with the service itself, finding it unreliable and often not working as expected, especially with streaming services. The customer service was frequently described as unresponsive and unhelpful, leaving many feeling ignored and frustrated. The primary concern for many customers revolved around the company's decision to revoke lifetime subscriptions after an acquisition, with people feeling that the company failed to honor previous agreements. This led to a strong sense of betrayal and a lack of trust in the company's commitment to its customers.

Cancelled account and sent noticed…

Cancelled account and sent noticed after the fact, gave a bad customer experience. Does not value the customer that has already paid. Then offered you the chance to pay again, with no time prior to find a better service. Do no give them your money, as they'll just cancel your account and ask for more money.

We understand why you feel this way — and we agree that the way the communication unfolded was not handled as well as it should have been.

To clarify: when we realized the full scope of inherited Lifetime accounts (which were not disclosed during the asset purchase), we should have started communicating much earlier. That's on us. The emails you received came too late, and the transition wasn't smooth.

We’re not proud of how that part played out, and we take responsibility for the frustration it caused. Regardless, we respect your choice to move on — and we’ll keep working to do better for those who stay.

They do NOT honor their lifetime…

They do NOT honor their lifetime subscriptions.

Edit to response.

If you only got the assets and no liability or payment, liabilities and obligations you should have then cancelled ALL of the subscription. You can’t have it both ways.

Edit for second response: Thanks for the clarification.

Edited Answer: ⬇️

Thanks for pinning that, because that's exactly what happened — every monthly or annual subscriber had to manually cancel their subscription with the old company's payment systems (PinPayment and PayPal under BoostNetwork Pty Ltd) and resubscribe under InfiniteQuant Ltd. We didn’t get it both ways — only Lifetime Deal users were kept running for two extra years without being asked to resubscribe, despite us not having access to the original payment systems or records.

Original Answer: ⬇️

We understand how frustrating this is to hear, and we don’t expect everyone to accept our explanation.

The reality is: when we acquired VPN Secure in 2023, it was an asset-only sale — we didn’t receive the contracts, liabilities, or any payments tied to Lifetime subscriptions. Those accounts continued to run for two additional years entirely at our cost, but we know that still feels like a breach from your side.

We respect that you feel let down, and we won’t argue with your decision to move on. But we will continue to be transparent about what happened, even if it doesn’t change the outcome.

There are a million VPNs out there, this one isn't worth it.

There are a million VPNs out there, and I would HIGHLY recommend spending your hard earned money on a more worthy candidate. This company decided honoring the deal they made with their customers and providing their customers with the service that they paid for isn't something they are interested in doing anymore. If they will refuse to provide the service customers already paid for why should you expect them to honor any new deals? This company has lost all trust and goodwill and I highly recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

We understand — when trust is broken, it's almost impossible to rebuild, and we don’t expect you to feel any differently.

We’ve been clear about the reality: we acquired the infrastructure, not the contracts or the revenue from those Lifetime deals. That’s why all users — even monthly subscribers — had to re-subscribe under a new payment system after the acquisition.

We kept those accounts active for two extra years at our own cost, but we understand that from your perspective, that doesn’t undo the fact that the original deal is gone.

You’re right to choose any provider that earns your trust, and we respect that decision. We won’t try to change your mind — but we will continue to show up and answer directly, even when it's unpopular.

We hear you — and we understand that many Lifetime users feel the only acceptable resolution would have been a refund.

Unfortunately, since this was an asset-only acquisition, we never had access to the funds collected from those Lifetime deals, nor to the previous payment platforms (like PayPal or PinPayments, which were registered under the old Australian company, BoostNetwork Pty Ltd). That’s why all users, including monthly subscribers, had to re-subscribe under our new payment system after the acquisition.

We understand that feels like a hollow answer — but it’s the factual one. We kept the accounts running for two additional years at our own cost because we couldn’t offer refunds we never received.

We know this won’t change your opinion, but we want to be clear, even if the outcome remains frustrating.

This is messed up

How could you cancel a lifetime membership and then charge people to get it again? WTF. All because you only wanted "assets" when you acquired the company. This is horrible service. NOBODY needs to sign up again with this company.

We understand why this feels like a betrayal — and we’re not going to argue that it doesn’t feel terrible from your side.

When we acquired VPN Secure in 2023, it was through an asset-only sale — meaning we acquired the infrastructure, servers, and technology, but not the company itself, not the contracts, and not the payment systems. We also received no revenue from those Lifetime deals.

That’s why, despite not being legally obligated, we kept those Lifetime accounts running for two additional years at our own cost, trying to offer some continuity rather than pulling the plug immediately.

We know that explanation doesn’t make the situation feel any less bitter — and we don’t expect everyone to accept it. But we’ve been upfront about the messy reality, even when it makes us the target of anger.

We respect your choice to move on and wish you a better experience with your next VPN provider.

Scammers at best

I had purchased a lifetime account and after a number of years, that service was cancelled as part of the purchase of the company by a new owner because it deemed not profitable. This is a scam at the highest level possible. Avoid using them if you can and find another reliable VPN provider.

Regardless of how the company was acquired, it feels like a scam; the least the company could have done is extend the period before cutting off the service and make best efforts to communicate with those impacted; none of which happened. How can we trust services offered by scammers going forward?

Updated Answer: ⬇️

Thanks for the update, Chen — and you’re right to point out that communication could have been handled better.

In hindsight, we should have extended the notice period and communicated more clearly in the months leading up to the shutdown. But this wasn’t done out of malice or indifference — we’re a small team trying to navigate the fallout of a deal that came with hidden baggage and no ongoing revenue from these plans.

We’re not asking for trust — just trying to offer transparency, even if the outcome still stings. We wish things had unfolded differently, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective.

— VPN Secure Team

Original Answer: ⬇️

Thanks for your feedback — we hear your frustration loud and clear.

We understand that for many Lifetime users, this feels like a scam, but the reality is more complicated (even if that doesn’t make it feel any better). The company was acquired in 2023 through an asset-only transaction, meaning we didn’t inherit the contracts, liabilities, or any of the funds from those Lifetime subscriptions. What we did inherit was the infrastructure and the challenge of keeping it alive with no revenue from those deals.

That’s why, even though we weren’t legally bound, we chose to keep Lifetime accounts running for two extra years at our own expense while trying to stabilize the service.

We know that explanation won’t change how this feels from your side, but we are being transparent about the situation — even if it makes us unpopular.

We respect your decision to move on and wish you better experiences with your next provider.

The New Owners are Fools

I am one of the many who woke up this morning with my lifetime subscription abruptly cancelled without notice. The company has been purchased by a dishonorable money-grabbing entity that doesn't care about your privacy or their commitments. You should run to literally any other VPN. To the new owners: May all your profits burn.

Thanks for your direct feedback — we completely understand why this feels like a betrayal, and we’re not here to argue.

The difficult truth is: we acquired VPN Secure in 2023 through an asset-only purchase. We didn’t take over the company itself, nor did we receive any contracts, payment records, or legal obligations tied to the previous Lifetime Deals. That doesn’t make it feel any better from your side, we know that.

We kept those accounts active for two extra years, trying to provide continuity where we could, but we accept that many feel that wasn’t enough.

We respect your choice to move on to another provider — that’s absolutely your right. Regardless of where you go next, we wish you better experiences ahead.

Worth $2/yr not not $55

This product was worth the couple of bucks a year when I signed up for a lifetime subscription. It’s basic and not anywhere near as robust or feature packed as many of the top rated VPN options.
So thinking you’re being magnanimous offering $55/yr subscription would be just completely laughable if it wasn’t so arrogantly condescending.
Yeah I get they got screwed. And that sucks. But the answer is not to screw your customers.
Already switched to a competitor and will never go back.

UPDATE/EDIT
Thanks for the human reply. Props for the guts that takes. And the confidence in the belief of your decision.

Here’s the thing. Had you made the case 2 years ago when you bought the brand and said what you are now saying, then maybe, things would have worked out so much better!! Your claims of transparency are dubious at best. I, personally have not heard from SerureVPN (that I can recall) since I signed up. No communication that the service changed hands. Not that what was represented was what was acquired. Not until you shut down YOUR subscribers.
So yeah, gonna say. Your execution of this acquisition will be taught in business and commerce courses classes for decades to come. To be clear. On how NOT to handle it!

Thanks for the follow-up — and, honestly, fair point.

If we had opened the conversation two years ago — transparently, clearly, and with proper lead time — this would have landed differently. Instead, we waited too long, tried to rip the bandage off late, and unsurprisingly, it blew up. That’s on us. No excuses.

You’re right: execution matters as much as the decision itself. And on that, we fully own the failure.

Thanks for the honesty. Even if we lost you for good, feedback like this still matters.

Lifetime deal no longer offered, but I get it......

yes super annoyed and gutted that I am now having to look for a new VPN deal after paying what I considered a life time deal. But I get it, how do you support, patch and make infrastructure upgrades if there is no income coming in to keep with the times and continue to keep up the service but also expand.

But also now looking at the 84% which I appreciate I have added to for my frustrations, I do wonder what the long term picture holds as people read reviews or go off review ratings when spending their own money with any company.

Sometimes the customer relationship is just as valuable which would bring in additional custom in the masses but now at a 1.2% rating on Trustpilot. That does seem pretty tough to recover from and would completely diminish any profits you were hoping achieve over the years.

Although I am contemplating staying as I have never had an issue and service always has been stable and delivered with confidence, I do feel you should be returning to those that did stay to continue offering a better prices than what has been already offered longer term given that we all paid for a life time deal.

Although I have not yet read all the negative responses, I also appreciate the integrity of owning the backlash and taking the time out to reply to nearly everyone whilst keeping your cool even if some of them is a copy and paste and futile in trying to create an understanding with the end user.

All sunshine and rainbows, all of the sudden storms and shadows

Like many users already stated, I too had purchased a Lifetime licence to VPNSecure's VPN service and was appalled by the recent news of it cutting these licences.
Although I see the company's points, when you purchase a service you are purchasing it regardless of who own's it or if it changes hands. It is the responsability of the service provider, to provide said service, being company A or B, or if B bought A or parts of it. Right now, the service isn't being provided anymore.
They say they didn't buy costumers, even though it clearly states in the sale listing "All customers (consumers, businesses and resellers)", but kept accounts open "for free" another 2 years? How come? They had access to all accounts, especially the time left on them, and those accounts had to be transfered to them, so something isn't quite adding up.
Another thing not adding up, $5k+/profit a month with a 71% margin was advertised in sale listing. So, previous owners made this amount of money, even with all these lifetime licenses, but the new owners can't. So, we all can assume the new owners are incompetent. And that isn't a good look on a VPN service.
The company had 2 choices: bite the bullet and honor these lifetime licenses and perhaps increase the monthly fee; or terminate lifetimers, hoping they don't make much noise and perhaps win some sales from them. Guess what they chose?
Bottom line, company doesn't honor past purchases, nothing says it will honor new ones; company can't work with a 71%, $5k+ a month profit with all the lifetimers traffic where previous owners could; company doesn't know how to check costumers licence although it has access to it, so it could happen to anyone.
Not too late to reverse all this, just ask for proof of purchase and get some lifetimers back and some honor with it, but we all know they won't.
Think well before purchasing any license for this service, there are plenty of alternatives and none with this history.

This company has no integrity. That is obvious to everyone. The logic is just absurd. If you want to buy a brand and it's assets ok makes sense... But to buy a brand then not honor it's agreements is absurd. Why buy the brand at all? Presumably to engender some sort of trust with the users. Well I'm glad that limited quant or whoever bought the brand wasted their money with their wonton foolishness. The brand is rightfully trash now. Great job gang.

Zero communication over two years

All my emails were ignored over a two year period asking why my (life time) membership was not working. I had no idea VPNS had be taken over by another business. VPNS was my secondary tool and I was a very light user of the service. So to be denied service iwas criminal and unfair. And, "no!", emails had not gone into spam as is suggested by the present VPNS people. I was just ignored. Today I received the first explanation from the new owners. It was a generic explanatory one, it seems. While its seeming honesty, plain style and transparency is credible, its outcomes are abysmal. To claim they didn't know about lifetime subscriptions as part of an acquisition is a
business joke, except it is not funny. It would be one of the main things you did, even just to understand assets, liabilities and goodwill, as part of due diligence. Given this, VPNS should have honoured LTMs. You should after all understand about trust! You have caused massive reputational damage to your business, and should have seen that coming too. Hence, your judgement skills are questionable. This experience has impacted my future engagement behaviour with business over longer term subscriptions, for sure. So, it's a big "nope" for VPNS from me.
