Ignores Customers

Air transat are flat out refusing to answer phone calls or emails during covid making it impossible to discuss anything with them. Multiple emails left unanswered and phones just ring out.

I would NOT recommend using Air Transat…

I would NOT recommend using Air Transat as they have ZERO respect for their customers. Air Transat operate out of the UK under EU Regulations EC 261/2004 and C(2020)1830 (Covid update). These rules state:
3.2. Right to reimbursement or re-routing:
In the case of a flight cancellation by the airlines (no matter what the cause is), Article 5 obliges the operating air carrier to offer the passengers the choice among:
a) reimbursement (refund);
b) re-routing at the earliest opportunity, or
c) re-routing at a later date at the passenger's convenience.

Air Transat are NOT offering refunds. They have my money for flights that were cancelled. I DO NOT want vouchers, I WANT A REFUND from Air Transat.

Customer service is appalling

I was booked to fly to Toronto for a family celebration unfortunately due to pandemic it was cancelled. I am extremely angry that huge company will only offer a credit note, I will be fighting this and seeking legal advice. I will not ever be travelling to canada again as this was going to be a once off trip as my family have returned to stay in the uk. Airtransit should be forced to give full refund, I will be leaving negative reviews on all sites of Airtransit and encouraging others to do the same, people have lost their jobs so full refund would be helping people through the pandemic. The company should be ashamed of the way they have treated their customers, I will never use this company again.

Air Transat are a disgrace for how they are treating customers during COVID-19

Air Transat is breaking consumer protection law and breaking their own terms and conditions by refusing refunds to people who are legally entitled to them. While other organisations and individuals try to help people during this Pandemic, companies such as Air Transat line the pockets of their rich board members. All at the expense of people who are hurting right now. To make it worse the government seems to back them. I for one am sick of big companies breaking the law and not being held accountable. In the UK, banks were bailed out with taxpayer money only for their executives to still receive huge paychecks, while everyone else struggled through a recession. I am sure the same will happen here and these airlines will also receive government subsidies to "survive". When will we wake up to this nonsense. The corruption in this world is sickening, Canadian Airlines stealing people's money while breaking consumer protection law is just another example of it. If we want companies to change lets all stop using the companies that employ executives with no morals. Boycott Air Tansat and let another company with better customer service and better morals take that section of the market, we will all be better off for it!

So I bought a ticket 11 days ago and…

So I bought a ticket 11 days ago and today I find out the fare dropped by $350 total (pretty significant!) and AirTransat was not able to reimburse me the difference, offer any perks (like a freaking $25 gourmet meal) or offer even a promo code for next time I book with them, so basically I lose out on the $350 difference just because “fares change” and they cannot do this for every customer (or, you know, you could if the customer calls and asks for something from the customer service). By the way, my ticket was for the “club class” so it’s not like I paid for basic economy, and I always fly club with them so you’d think they’d do something- even if it was just a little extra something (I would’ve taken a $25 off coupon for a future flight for all I care) just something, any little thing, to say they appreciate me as a return customer, and that they’re sorry the price changed so dramatically in less than 2 weeks. Well I know that booking apps like Expedia have a price guarantee, so I won’t be booking through their app anymore. I might not even book through the airline anymore because I don’t feel appreciated as a customer.

Good experience

Flew from London to Toronto return with 2 kids. Have to say, the experience was very pleasant. We opted for Option Plus which is highly recommended, especially when travelling with children. This allows seat selection, priority boarding and snacks aboard the plane.
Kids Club is also a fantastic addition for children under 12.

Avoid Transat, they treat you like cattle.

They con you about Club Class. I paid for Club Class because it promised a quiet space on board the plane. They must have used their oldest plane for the trip. I was seated at the very front, staring at a wall, no entertainment screens, no partition, and told to use own tablet/phone for films. Stewardess grabbed my handbag and placed it in the overhead bin. Weird passenger came on and sat with her legs raised on the wall, listening to music and sleeping, thus making it impossible for me to get out of my seat. Plane took off and reached cruising height and then we had this endless line of people wanting to use the toilet, which was also used by the pilots. Surely not ideal if a pilot needs a comfort break and has to contend with a long queue. Customer service is terrible. I lodged a complaint in November 2019 and they still have not answered me. I won't fly with them again. They treat people like cattle.

Lost walker

Flew Air Transat in January . On the return flight home from Punta Cana my wife’s walker was miss placed and it wasn’t with the rest of our luggage. Didn’t have time to look for it because we had to catch the Niagara Airbus. After getting home , the next day my wife called Pearson and didn’t get much help. The next day someone from Air Transat called me and asked me some questions then told me they would have it brought to me. They delivered it right to my door .Now that is customer service

Still waiting for refund

Booked online - Club Class summer flights to Europe and later needed to cancel due to health reasons. Cancelled online. Knew there would be a penalty but had no clue Transat wouldn’t give remaining funds back unless I called customer service. Isn’t App & online website meant to avoid having to call them? Shouldn’t website or confirmation email of cancellation indicate you must call? Please fix your website.

Air Transat didn’t let a mom with 2 little kids on the plain! If you are flying with kids don’t ever choose Air Transat!

I had a flight booked with Air Transat with 2 little kids. The security was very slow and we arrived to the gate 5 minutes before the end of the boarding time. Air Transat told me that they finished boarding earlier and took me off the list, and they are allowed to do it because they notify the passengers to be at the gate 60 minutes ahead and we weren’t there 60 minutes ahead. They escorted us outside while the plain is still at the gate, while the kids are crying about their lost vacation that they were dreaming about for months. This was our first family vacation – I am a single mom, my ex left us with no money I am raising the kids alone, so it took me 2 years to save for these tickets. Terrible heartless people!

Terrible Airline

Terrible Airline, they will con you into buying a ticket at any cost. And then good luck with their customer relations team after the fact if you have an issue. By far the worst customer service I have ever received. They could care less what your complaint is, and are as rude as they come. Will never fly with them again - couldn't pay me to.

Our flight arrived in Manchester on Tuesday our wheelchair Saturday

Our flight arrived in Manchester on Tuesday the 24th of December At 9.00 am . Our wheelchair Arrived at our lodgings at 7.45pm on Saturday the 28th, let that sink in for a second, a wheelchair, somebodies independence and mobility arrived to us a full four and a half days later thanks to the fact it was shipped on the next flight they had from Toronto instead of being shipped via any reliable courier immediately then it was a comedy of errors when it arrived to Manchester on Thursday as the inept fools hired to deliver it took 3 attempts over 2 days,
This was a wheelchair not a piece of luggage you completely failed to resolve the issue in a reasonable timeframe shame on you

Avoid - unreliable

Booked return direct flights from gatwick in May. We arrived at the airport to be told we'd missed our flight (which we hadn't) as the flight time had been brought forward an hour. We then ran through the airport to find the gate had not opened when we arrived there. Transat had actually cancelled our flight and put us on a flight to Vancouver which was now landing at Calgary. We were given 2 days notice of this via an email which ended up in our email spam. No follow up call, no apology. When we found the email, we found also that Transat had also cancelled the return flight and put us on a flight via Toronto with a 4 hour layover. We cancelled this flight but had to pay £300 more for direct fights with West Jet - we complained and waited 5 months for a response. Transat are not interested - point to their Ts &Cs which say they can do what they want. I would recmmend avoiding these even if they are the lowest cost as you won't know what you're getting until a couple of days before you fly..

Not great

My Dad, Stepmother & Brother have lived in Canada for nearly 30 years ago so I have grown up travelling back and forth to/from Toronto. Having used Canadian Affair to book my flights (they offer the opportunity to pay off the cost in instalments), I have flown Air Transat many times. However, my most recent experience was the worst yet. I honestly don't remember them being so bad before.

The flight out to Canada felt like I had stepped back in time. It was the first time, in over a decade, that I had flown longhaul and didn't have a seat back TV. There were small shared TVs above the middle row of seats - and we had to buy earphones to be able to hear the sound from them. OR we could watch movies/TV shows via their app that you needed to have downloaded before getting onto the flight. There I was, after having paid over £500 for a return flight, and I'm having to watch a in-flight entertainment on my PHONE??? On top of that, this archaic plane (I believe it was an Airbus a310) didn't even offer the opportunity to be able to charge my phone. No power sockets/USB chargers. So I had to use my phone to be entertained but I couldn't even charge it? Whose clever idea was that?

The flight back to the UK was marginally better - it was an Airbus a330 which has seat back TVs and USB charging options. At least it felt like we were back in modern times. Unfortunately this flight had one of the rudest Air Stewardnesses I've had the pleasure of dealing with. The only "good" thing about this trip was the fact Air Transat got my sister and I there and back in one piece.
