On july 28 2019 I boarded a plane in…

On july 28 2019 I boarded a plane in Toronto heading to Portugal and 40 minutes later we had to get out because of excessive heat the AC wasnt working and we had to wait 4.5 hours for another aircraft. Air transat refused to compensate passengers for the delay. On july 30 the same aircraft left passengers stranded in Rome with AC problems. This company is a big mess and transport Canada is doing nothing about, maybe if this gets reported to FAA they will do something on February 4, 2019 I was left stranded in Porto, Portugal until the next day waitting for an aircraft to fly from Canada to Portugal,. On Feb 5 2019 we were to fly at 8am but the airplane took off at 9:35 am and 25 minutes later we had to go back because of mechanical problems, we landed one hour later at 10:30 am. Service was done on the aircraft and departure took place around 3:30 pm to Toronto. At 8 pm (17 hours later) we landed in Montreal because pilots were far exceding their shift flying time allowed by FAA regulations. Finally arived in Toronto more than 30 hours later, all because mechanical problems. Where is Transport Canada in cases like this. Air transat has too many mechanical problems

So I booked a ticket from London to Vancouver, a couple of weeks later they announce that they wont let you travel with a MacBook pro from a specific period and I happen to have such a MacBook. so now I cant use my ticket due to something that I had no way of knowing about. I call their UK number, they throw me around and refuse to make a refund, then they tell me to call later so they can transfer me to their montreal center. but they only do so to get rid of me because I spent 20 minutes listening to elevator music waiting for someone to pick up.
so I paid for the ticket, then they say I cant use it way after I had booked the ticket, and now they wont give my money back. this is an airline from hell.

Air Transat

Air Transat - 16 hours in hell.
I saw a review saying 7 hours in hell, but no, for us was more than double. Since leaving Montreal for Paris, more than 7 h flight, we waited in the plane for 2 hours because it was raining and they were late to fill with gas.
I did the check in online and booked 2 window seats but at the airport we had to check our bags so that didn't count. We were placed in middle and was horror. Being pushed by air attendants for every service.
Than the plane, those tight chairs, very uncomfortable. Having to pay just by Visa (no mastercard, debit or cash) for blankets and earphones. The food was horror. The airline with the less good looking and less proffesional air attendants. Like they were forced to come to work.
Since the fight was already late the pilot did it fast and fast meant trembling like hell all the time.
Return flight was slower and the pilot better.
The cabin was too hot for 2 hours and than very cold but they didn't care.
Movies and songs were ancient.
I'd never travel with them again.
I have traveled with Luftansa,Air Canada,Alitalia,Air Marocco, Turkish Airlines and British Airlines. I can say for sure 100% British and Turkish are the best, all the others suck but Air Transat is the worst of the worst. Never felt so bad.

Didn’t get my pre booked special vegan…

Didn’t get my pre booked special vegan meal flying back from Toronto late last night despite booking months in advance. I also agree with another reviewer’s feedback as the ground crew are nothing but interrogational and far from professional. On a positive note a member of the Canadian based cabin crew was exceptionally personable and professional at touch down at Gatwick this morning and throughout his shift(young guy). I don’t think I will be flying with them again.

I would have given 1 Star had it not…

I would have given 1 Star had it not been the flight crew. The ground staff at Gatwick Airport for Air Transat is horrible and very unfriendly. Also for those who are looking for bargain deal Air Transat is not when you add up baggage allowances and other allowances. I am also not happy as I was made to check in baggage just because the wheel on my carry-on was not allowing it to go through their stupid steal box which is kept as a bench mark. My carry on was well below the allowed weight (10KG). I pleaded them to let it go but the check in officer would not allow. I had to check in and paid 50Pounds. I will definitely never fly Air Transat again.

Bad flight. Terrible customer service.

Flew a transatlantic flight on an ancient plane with no seatback entertainment and tiny seats (I was constantly bumped by passengers and cabin crew walking past, throughout the flight). A panel actually fell off the ceiling when we landed!

Further, I didn't get to eat because they gave my special meal away... and then lied about it. No apology, and no alternatives offered.

To rub salt into the wound, AirTransat has not responded to any of my attempts to contact them about their terrible service.

The only reason this gets 2 stars rather than 1 is because it was the cheapest flight available.

absolutely ridiculous

absolutely ridiculous. booked a transatlantic flight and flew out March 29th I go to check in on my return and find out a checked bag is no longer included and I have to pay 50quid for a bag I had on the way over the ocean. Such a rubbish company, price gouging their customers at every turn. The ticket cost nearly 900$ with no baggage, and when booking the ticket no warning was given that changes were being made April 1st. I admit I got caught not reading the fine print like everyither reasonable person. Absolutely nonsense customer service. after this journey I will never fly with them again

I am writing this review while on…vacation

I am writing this review while on holiday in Europe. On March 26th, my friend and I boarded our flight: YVR-YYZ-LGW. The flight from Vancouver to Toronto went smoothly. After a short 3-hr layover in Toronto, we boarded flight TS122 Toronto to London. Something seemed awfully wrong from the start. We could smell jet fuel in the cabin upon starting up of the engines. A few passengers including myself voiced our concerns to the nearest member of the flight crew. She reassured us it was normal so we relaxed. The plane took off and everything seemed fine for the first 2 hours.

Then the captain made an announcement, stuttering over his words. He said something was wrong but wouldn't say what it was. He then said the plane would be turned around to make a landing in Montreal, which was 90 minutes away. You could feel the fear and tension in the cabin among the passengers. The flight crew remained absolutely calm and professional. Upon landing in Montreal, we waited 2 hours before boarding another aircraft. The exact same pilots and flight crew flew us from Montreal to London. They were overworked but remained calm and professional at all times. All in all we landed in London 5 hours later than scheduled.

However, this was the scariest experience I have ever had on board any aircraft and one I wish never to repeat.

Great job, Air Transat team! You handled a potentially deadly situation very well. Nobody got hurt and we were only 5 hours late.

Direct flight? Nope! Diversion and 6hr layover.

Booked direct flights London-Calgary, only for them to change it on Christmas day(!) to London-Toronto-Calgary, with a 6 hour layover in Toronto and a 12 hour delay to our holiday.
No compensation, upgrade, or any offer to make the journey easier for us, only a choice to cancel or change flight to a different day.
Tried to get them to make me happy, but I ended up cancelling and booking a new direct flight with West Jet, same day, same airport, better service.

Flight was delayed because another of their connecting flights hasn't arrived. Fail to see how this is my issue and the flight should take off when scheduled. THE PLANE IS ON THE TARMAC!

No compensations offered, no thoughts provided to passengers who have arrangements and have been sat in the airport for 3-4 hours already!

Don't use, not the first time this has happened to me. Air Canada or West Jet will be used from now on.

Air Transat is the worst airline

January 1, 2019

I was a victim of the terrible services of the Air Transat. The issues ranged from unprofessional employee conduct to a security breach. My husband and I had the unfortunate luck of dealing with a particulate unpleasant employee. This employee, identified as the supervisor for the flight TS144 refused to provide her employee identification by covering it with her hand, and further advised to the other employees not to provide the identification. Due to this matter, we were not able to identify the parties involved in this matter. At the time of boarding the plane, this specific employee called Navdeep Gill informed us that I needed a Prorroga to be able to fly to Cuba although I’m a Cuban Citizen. According to Ms. Gill, Air Transat can lose $10,000 if we go on the plane. She was confrontational and displayed aggressive behaviour. She asked another employee to remove our bags from the plane. My husband is a Canadian Citizen and he has the right to continue on the flight but this option was not provided. Then we were told that our bags will be in the baggage claim area and e should go get them. In addition, they forgot my carry on which was on to the plane flying to Cuba without me. If I’m not wrong, regulations prohibit an airline from knowingly transporting luggage without a passenger across international borders, and they were aware of this. No Direction was given at any point. We walked around the airport for the next two hours looking for an Air Transat Representative that could help us. We eventually found a friendly and helpful Air Transat employee working in the baggage retrieval room. There was no offer for an alternative flight or accommodation. We were basically kicked out of the airport like a bunch of animals. Here we are still waiting for a response from the Air Transat.

DON'T BRING YOUR BIKE WITH AIR TRANSAT

In July 2018 I flew from London to Vancouver with my bike. Upon arrival, my bike wasn't there. After completing all paperwork required, I was told I'd receive a phone call that day with an update. I never received a phone call and spent my next 5 days contacting Air Transat only to be told to call a different number or email a different email and no-one seemed to be able to give me an update on my bike.

After 3.5 days, someone finally responded saying they found my bike. As I was leaving 2 days later and my bike was apparently still in London, I requested to leave it in London as I'd have to pay the additional fee to take it back with me without being able to use it. As you guessed it, no response.. I spent a lot of time trying to get updates after that, only to be told it's now on a flight to Vancouver (facepalm). I continued to request updates knowing that I was flying back the next day, but no response at all. I repeat, nothing.
The morning I checked out my hotel notified me that my bike was delivered to my hotel a couple of hours earlier, no communication from Air Transat at all.

When checking in for my flight they still made me pay the additional luggage fee, even after explaining everything that happened. They gave me a business card and told me to email them and said I'd be able to claim the money back. It's now 2 months later and I still haven't received anything, I'm still chasing them for my refund. Absolutely unacceptable customer service.

It was an extremely stressful week for me and I lost a whole week of training, which is really frustrating in the middle of my race season.

In summary: DO NOT BRING YOUR BIKE WITH AIR TRANSAT.

It was an extremely frustrating experience and I just don't understand why these people work for the same company but don't communicate with each other. Instead, they make their customer work extremely hard to get any information and sometimes don't even tell you that you supposedly contacted the wrong department. They'll tell you when you've waited forever and reach out again as you still haven't had an update.

Damaged baggage in transit

The flight was good no delays staff was good but I was disappointed with the damage to the brand new suit case. I only bought it 3 days before the flight and on the inbound journey it was smashed with scuffs and dents. When told the staff at the airport only to be told the will be pushed out and call if it does not. The dent come out but left visible marks and I tried to call the customer services twice and was on hold for 40 minutes .I have no idea who to complain I will not be using the flight again unless it get resolved.

Great flight & service at bargain price

I had a really great experience with this airline.

Both outbound & return the flights were smooth, on time and grabbing a two-seat option by the window was a great option.

The in-flight entertainment system is superb, just don't forget your own quality headphones for the best experience & the crew were polite & frequent in their in-flight service.

The food - for airline food was pretty good too so I was really surprised they have an average two-star rating.

I would definitely use them again for Canadian destinations.
