Very good cars
Very good cars, good service, when we return the car pretty fast.
My only advice is be patient when you pick up your car, i had to wait almost an hour for my car.

Do not get the insurance from Hopper!
Rented car from Hopper website. Received a call the day before to confirm if rental was still needed, agent was not able to give any additional information only to call when we arrived to our destination after getting our luggage. Would of loved to have all needed instructions before arriving. Was picked up my van and taken to where our car was. Had to buy additional required insurance, do not buy insurance from the hopper website!! Agent was nice and informative. Car was a good size for a family of 5. I would rent from America Car Rental Monterrey again.

SCAM CAR RENTAL
SCAM CAR RENTAL. They will advertise low rental prices but upon arriving they will force an insurance cost higher than the car rental fee!!! You can’t turn it down or they will refuse the rental!! Do not trust the low advertised rates! Expect to pay 3x more!

The rental car itself functioned very…
The rental car itself functioned very well. The one problem I had was at the moment of renting the car. The car they gave me had a broken back seat, fairly low tire tread on 3 of the tires, and the interior of the car was quite dirty. I complained, so they changed to a different car, but unfortunately the interior of the car smelled like smoke. They didn't have any other similar cars available, so the best option was the original car, but it took them another half hour or so to better clean the interior and fix the broken back seat.

Everything from picking the car up, driving it for the week and dropping it off was smooth. Thanks for making one less thing I had to worry about on my trip. I will rent from you again next time. In fact I’m headed to Cabo in July and will make sure I rent from you on that trip.

Bad experience
We were to pick up the car at the Palenque Airport Wednesday afternoon, March 4 at the designated time. The office was closed. As was the airport. With a phone call, we were told that we would be picked up and taken to the office at the train station. I made the reservation in February 2026 and put it under my name. My partner would share in the driving. I thought we could designate that when we picked up the car. Seeing that we would be dropping off the car at the train station, we decided to add one more day to the rental because we were leaving on the train on Saturday, March 7. Then she told us we needed additional liability insurance. When I booked the reservation through Booking.com, the voucher states "Included in the rental price--Insurance, Covers and Waivers." I had the required letter from my credit card company which covers the collision insurance. The price was $37.76 for 2 days. The agent said we would need to pay for 3 days ($5 x 3 days) for adding John as an additional driver. We understood that. We also needed to pay for the additional day of rental. We were paying $37.76 for 2 days and the additional day would be costing $71.90. How is that fair? And we would have to pay $80 for additional liability insurance. Again the insurance was included in the price. She said we owed $166.90. It was "pay up" or no car. There were no other car rental agencies at the train station. Unfortunately the end of the process was worse than the beginning. The employee who checked in the car said we had damaged 3 tires and would have to pay for them, an allegation which we rejected. The rims of the tires were damaged when we got the car, had been shoddily repaired and spray painted to hide the damage. She reviewed the car's condition in the computer and admitted "you're right, there was damage to the tires, no charge." Not only did she admit to the misrepresentation but she sent us out in an unsafe vehicle. Moreover, the front fender attachments were were damaged and could have fallen off at any time. The car had 170,000 kilometers on it.

The car was in good condition. Pickup and return were fast. I didn’t like that you can’t get a refund if you return the car early, but it was my mistake for not reviewing the reservation details at the beginning.
