WARNING – TOTAL SCAM OPERATION

Please stay the hell away from this company. They are complete frauds.
They mess with the returned cars, create fake damages, and then steal your deposit without any shame. Once they take your money, they make sure you can’t dispute a damn thing.

This place operates like a mafia-style scam, not a real business.
Their customer service is rude, useless, and full of crap.
Renting from them is a guaranteed headache and a waste of your hard-earned money.

Do NOT rent from “America Car Rental” in Houston — they are a bunch of crooks.

Rented a car in Houston. Rental paid thru priceline. Was charged again. And a 300 hundred dollar security deposit. Put had a toll fee forced on me. 1 week later security deposit not returned or the other rental charged. We stick with a reputable company next time.

Miami location is not at the Airport. Took us 40 minutes by train and bus to get here. Waited in line 20 minutes to be told we had to use the other computer and had to wait for guy to come up. There are 4 rental car companies at one counter.
They would not accept the Nationwide-based insurance I purchased on Priceline nor would they accept my full coverage car insurance so charged me $90 for 3 days. They have a surcharge of $19.99 a day to use the SunPass they get from the state for free which includes ur tolls. Or $14.99 a day plus ur tolls. Also add State charges and taxes stating Priceline did not charge them.Just use the big car rental guys. They may seem more expensive at first but better customer service and NO HIDDEN FEES!

Got charged 800 for the security deposit and was told it would get put back 5 to 7 days. Is now day 16 and they tried to claim that the bank is holding it, their not, and refused to give it back.

UPDATE ON HOUSTON, TX RENTAL SCAM!!!
It's been 1 month since my rental and now they have completely stopped answering my phone calls and/or texts. They flat out ignore me and never returned my security deposit. I've filed a complaint with BBB, Priceline, and my bank. They are liars and scammers.!!!!!!!

They are horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would. Priceline needs to remove them from their website and I'll be sending a complaint to them right after this. I've been patient and I'm done now.
I rented a car for 1 day in Houston. I was charged $56 and a $200 deposit...NO PAPERWORK WAS PROVIDED. The car was old and dusty....they literally just bought it from an auction probably and didn't even bother to run it through a car wash. It still had all the writing on the window from the junk yard. I wasn't in the mood to go all the way back to the airport to another car company so I took it and left...and said a prayer that I could trust Tan (the employee).

The car issues: back left passenger door wouldn't open from the inside; car would rattle and shake when braking; car was not clean.

The location: located in a makeshift office at the Ramada lobby. No one was there when I arrived to return the vehicle. I had to call Tan 15 times before he answered (because apparently he's the only phone number you can call for this location). Luckily I had time to spare to wait for him to come back so I could return the car and get back to the airport. They will only communicate when it's time to pick you up and get your money....after that CRICKETS! Picking up and hanging up the phone, sending to voicemail...no other number but the one that leads to his cell. I have to call back to back like a stalker to get any kind of response.

The deposit issue: Tan assured me I would get my deposit back, and now it's been 4 business days and he's telling me it takes 18-21 days!!!! Never heard of this in my life and from reading the reviews, it's a lie. There's nothing even online that says that timeframe in regard to the deposit. They are full of sh*t.

I will be getting my deposit back one way or another and until then, I will continue to blast this company.

You call the "US and Canada" customer service number online, and it leads to Mexico. BIG FUCN SCAMMERS.

I only trusted this company because I always use Priceline and have never had an issue....never even thought to check the reviews prior to renting. Going forward, I'll be checking everything. They are a DISGUSTING company and need to be shutdown.

I had to cancel my paid reservation. I was aware that i would be charged a 20% cancellation fee, which i acknowleged. I had paid with my mastercard, but america car rental lied and said that they could not give the credit back to my card. They said they had to issue to wire funds to my bank. Once they told me that the wire would take 90 days i realized that i would likely not receive the wire and that i would not be able to dispute the charge with my card due to the 90 days, so i disputed the charge, and they indeed processed a credit to my card.
If you read reviews for this company you will see that most are very negative.

Was a very good experience. Diego was attending us very professionell and friendly. Only always the gasoline is very low when they give you the car. Returning the car was no problem.

Rude staff, they make you surprise charges for damage that was already on the car before you rented it. The cars are in bad shape, full of dents and scratches. You're better off renting from a reputable company.

My experience started out pretty decent they did come and get me from the airport took me didn’t wait long to receive a car but upon returning the car I did have to wait to go to the airport my main concern was that they put my deposit through and they also double charged me I have purchased my vehicle through priceline.com along with my flight they also charge me the exact same fee that Priceline charge me plus a $300 deposit they put everything through and never gave me back my deposit to clerk they lied to me and told me that the fee cost for the tolls was $36 they charged me two times for that I’m still fighting this day to try to even get my deposit back please please be leery of this company the one in Houston is a scam!!!

Solid provider. Unit was ready on time and quite clean. Paperwork didn’t take very long.

We booked a car rental reservation ( customer name Lester Shaw- Economy Rentals) on-line through "Priceline". Our reservation total came to $715.90 "including" full insurance. When we arrived to pick up the car at the Guadalajara, Mexico airport the America agent (who also does rentals for "Economy Car Rentals") the young agent did not speak English. She told us in Spanish that the $715.90 was only to make the reservation, and that she could not allow the actual rental of the car for less then $1,695.00 USD. Of course we showed her the reservation with the "Final Full Price" of $715.90, but she said she did not know or care what "Priceline" quoted. She was extremely rude! We left without renting the car! We will make a complaint to Priceline as well.

Garbage DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FOR THIS COMPANY I arrived at Santo Domingo Dominican republic at 2am thinking after many emails I was gonna meet someone at the door with my rental and all of that I wanted for 3 hours remind you it is 3am in a foreign country where I know noone ... I then asked to see where this rental place was nd a police officer tells me it's outside the airport I grabbed a taxi 10 mins out leaving my family at the airport yo f8nd out what was going on when I arrived there were 2 guys there where they were almost asleep I then presented my self he says ID I gave them my US ID nd they said not enough but then the other guy at the computer says oh we don't have anything for you the company will give u money back I'm sorry you have to leave and that's it ... what type of company is this I don't know NO RENTEN NADAA THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD

First and foremost, their employee MIGUEL is too good of a worker to be hired by a corrupt company. He was patient and amazing with myself and the other seven people that had the same problem. Priceline and Expedia are in cahoots with this company to scam renters out of more money when using the third party app. They encourage you to use your own insurance but never mentioned that America Car rental has an unrealistic number set for coverage. 500,000.00 liability is what they require to use personal insurance to rent a Nissan Sentra! I purchase Priceline coverage and they didn’t accept that either!!! Then they’ll hold a deposit on a major credit card and wait until they charge you to say it takes 25 DAYS to put your funds back on your card. The most insulting part besides the female short with dark straight hair (Hispanic) RUDE worker is. The insurance you purchase from them doesn’t even give you the liability coverage that they’re asking for SMH. This place needs to be shut down!

First of all, we were given the wrong address by the time we got to America Car Rental in Houston Texas. The guy was there by hisself didn’t understand anything we were saying gave us one car that was so raggedy. We had to tell him no a second car was better looking, but the backseat had everything spilled in it. We were in a hurry so we had to go ahead and take that car, but the whole time we drove in it kept saying the engine needed to be checked , pre-collision system was down. The lights was malfunctioning. I wouldn’t recommend a dog to rent a car there. Tried to charge me toll fees and airport fees.

I booked a family car but received an open pickup (proposal of America car rental). The ferry doesn't accept pickups and now I need to change my car in Tulum.
However this already takes 2 weeks to arrange, they want me to pay twice,and the communication of America Car Rental is very poor, they wait days to answer.

After my bad review, someone took contact with me and everything went very fluent. If they communicated like this from the beginning, I would recommend 5 stars.

Never trust this car rental car company. It’s a bait and switch company, of the worst order. Waisted 3 hours and Two Uber ride share money, looking for legitimate car rental company first day in Puerto Vallarta 6-30-2025. These people are rip off artist, pure and simple, booked through orbit.com. Book through orbit, which is complicit with a car rental company. Worst experience, at the beginning of my first part of my first Puerto Vallarta vacation.

DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM AMERICA CAR RENTAL. Not sure how they scored above 2 STARS here because they honestly deserve a negative star review.

This was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had renting a car. Simply because I declined insurance (as I had my own) and tolls, the clerk added over $100 in bogus surcharges. He literally made this rental impossible. And he did so for at least 7 other people here that were also waiting. If we didn’t agree to pay ridiculous extra charges - we weren’t getting a car rental. So many of us were left stranded! Having to return to the airport to make alternative plans. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND GO ELSEWHERE. They will rip you off or leave you stranded. Terrible business practices- no ethics! They should get fined for this bait and switch they have going on! I had a reservation and the amount more than doubled… SHAME ON YOU AMERICA CAR RENTAL!! No wonder- it’s a company based in Mexico operating in Orlando Florida- what can you expect???

I paid for a car package from Priceline with America Car rental out of Orlando MCO. I must report they are a very bad company. No one should offer their car rental services! Their location is far from the airport and when we got there, they wanted an additional $479.00 from us for car insurance. I have a letter of car insurance coverage from Citibank visa of up to $50K and also our own Geico car insurance and they refused to let us decline their exorbitant car insurance coverage. It is our right to decline it if we are providing our own insurance. However, they would not give us the car unless we paid it. It was also 96 degrees and we are elderly and they pushed us outside and refused to take us back with their shuttle to the airport, which was far away..

They were extremely rude, threatening, and nasty and were also doing the same thing to another lady who came before us, she also was refused the car unless she paid for their ridiculous coverage. You really should know about this vendor. They are shady and threatening and really crooked.

I have made a charge back on my credit card already with visa to get reimbursed. But they should not be sent anymore business. They are bad humans.
