Ruined £200 silk dress
I brought in a £200 silk dress to be taken in at the bust. Instead, they over-tightened the waist, left the bust area untouched, and completely ruined the zip—leaving the dress misshaped and unwearable (see photo).
Worse than the poor work was the treatment. The tailor was aggressive, made inappropriate comments, and got visibly angry when I asked for the agreed work to be done properly. I left feeling shaken and humiliated.
When I complained, they offered me a store voucher—as if I’d ever go back to a place that treated me like this.
This was not just a bad service—it was abusive and deeply unprofessional. Save yourself the stress and money.

A Costly Mistake, A Deeply Disrespectful Experience
I entrusted American Drycleaning – Gloucester Road with a brand new Prada dress, using their so-called “premium service.” The result was deeply disappointing: the dress came back damaged, with irregular discoloration—subtle yet clearly visible shifts in shade on sections of the white fabric—and fabric deterioration in isolated areas. Even without expert knowledge, it raises a serious question: how can a single, high-quality garment be damaged in separate, scattered places?
Instead of accountability, I was met with excuses. The store manager blamed customer service, and customer service blamed Prada—suggesting the damage was due to the fabric quality of a luxury designer dress. That level of deflection is both unprofessional and absurd.
To make matters worse, the email responses I received were nearly identical to those sent to other customers I know who experienced similar issues. There is nothing "premium" about a business that copies and pastes its denials while offering no solution.
Whether you’re a private client or a business, I strongly advise you to take your garments elsewhere. There are better, more responsible dry cleaners who value their clients and understand the meaning of care and trust.
If this has happened to you, you are not alone. Most likely, they’ll respond as they do to every client—that their Branch Manager, Area Manager, and Technical Director have all thoroughly inspected your dress after cleaning and found no issues.
Trust is earned. This business lost mine entirely.

The absolute WORST dry cleaning company…
The absolute WORST dry cleaning company in London! Stay clear of these guys. I had a jumper cleaned and it came back shrunk so badly that a 3 month old child could not fit in it. They will not reply to my constant requests for #1) a refund on the cleaning of the jumper, and 2) a refund on my £250.00 jumper.

AVOID AVOID AVOID
AVOID, the standard of the dry cleaning is terrible and there is zero customer service with both head office and in store. The set up is also unclear.
I posted this review after speaking to both the owner of the company & a manager so American Dry Cleanings response in the reply to my review makes no sense.
This company could not even press a belt on a garment, they treat customer with complete disrespect but have the time and energy to write on here. AVOID

The absolute worst
Simply the worst!
My vintage designer cocktail dress (my daughter was going to wear) was 'mislaid' by you and never recovered. After months of failed promises including offers remaking the dress (to the extent you got us to come in and be measured) we were offered initially nothing as it was 'vintage' .. and then a credit note for money I'd already spent on dry cleaning and alterations... only after much upset I got offered a credit note and £50. I can never replace the dress. I didn't want the money and the fact that you made us go in and get my 15 year old measured was appalling. I was then told you'd close my case if I continued to be upset. I have considered taking you to the small claims court as I have all this on email but honestly you've made what was a joyous event into something totally miserable and caused endless stress. You are the absolute worst. How could I ever use a credit note from a company that took my money, my dress and my time.

Better off burning your clothes
I have a rule to write a review only when it’s extremely positive experience or a really horrible one. I am afraid this case belongs in the second category.
I’ve been using their service for quite a few years now (yes that’s on me) using also the bundle service for shirt cleaning. Admittedly not the cheapest out there but the bundle service comes at less than £2.50 a shirt (for 100 shirt bundle) which is not bad, especially for a high quality service (as they claim).
But it comes at a severe cost: one of ruining your garment. I don’t know exactly what type of chemicals they are using but my shirts couldn’t withstand more than 3-4 cleanings before they started showing holes in them. And before you say anything we are talking about really high quality, very expensive shirts (brioni, pal zileri, canali, etc) worth a minimum of £200 each.
My first (really nasty experience) was a few months ago when they delivered 5 shirts back to me all having a hole on the left sleeve next to the cuff. It was obvious this happened in the cleaning process (some of the shirts were barely worn). The damage to me came in the hundreds of pounds (>£1k). I obviously complained about it. The branch manager was apologetic and admitted this is unacceptable so he asked me to leave one of my shirts behind so that he would put in the claim himself.
And that’s where the real fun begins.
After having me filling in an online form leaving all the details and one week of radio silence, they came back to me informing me that their “technical director” looked into the matter and that the shirts couldn’t have been possibly damaged due to their “impeccable” cleaning service so they were already damaged when handed over.
I leave the part aside that they provided no evidence to that respect. They handed them back to me damaged and offered £50 of credit as a gesture of goodwill (still unknown to me why since as they say it wasn’t their fault). For the record the £50 wasn’t enough to cover for one of the sleeves of the shirts they ruined.
I let it drop and continued using their service (yes i know that one is on me). Couple of months later (and this is where it really gets funny) they return four shirts to me with no evidence of damage. All good right? Wrong. I had delivered five to them.
The branch manager was once more apologetic (if only i have a pound for every apology…) and started showing some pictures of shirts from the factory to identify them. At that point i had to laugh as i didn’t know what was worse: the fact that it was evident that my shirt was not the only one that was missing or the part where he was showing some floral pattern shirts that were only good for a bathroom curtain (no disrespect to its owner).
He gave me a receipt of a missing shirt (you just can’t make that sh*t up) and reassured me that my shirt was going to be found (money in the bank as we say).
Few days later surprise surprise: i get another email stating that my shirt was damaged during the cleaning process and that i should fill in the form to file a claim.
I could tell you that i was steaming like a tea pot at that point in time but reality is i had written off the shirt so my thought at the time was “let me get my money and get the hell out of here while I still can”.
So i filled in the form, crossed my fingers and waited.
I could have crossed my toes or my arms behind my back for all that matter. It would have made no difference.
The previously lost, now damaged shirt suddenly became a shirt with “tear & wear” which couldn’t sustain the cleaning process (they must use ChatGPT to write the replies to their customer complaints as they must receive so many). Same sh*t. Their technical director was in the case and after rigorous research his verdict was that the shirt was already damaged.
This is like me getting my kids to mark their own homework. Am sure their technical director is as impartial as it gets. Still doesn’t explain the fact that to the day i have seen no shirt (not even a picture) nor an explanation how a shirt bought three months ago and worn twice (no exaggeration) was subject to “wear & tear”. A high quality £200 worth shirt.
Having said that, because they are a glorious firm, the best the workd has ever seen, treating 25,000 shirts with 99.99% success (i guess i must be in the 0,01% but on a repeated basis), they offered the fantastic amount of £20 (credit of course not cash). Forget the sleeve, this wasn’t enough to pay for the buttons on the shirt.
And yes at that point i lost it. After numerous exchanges the glorious amount became £80 (credit no rebate of course)
I offered them my shirt as a farewell gift and wished them good luck.
I appreciate a lot of humorous remarks in my story (more to get you to read it) but seriously stay away.
Am sure they'll reply to this message. That's what they do. But don't believe a word you read or hear from these guys.

Horrific. They will destroy your clothes and lie about it.
Utterly horrendous service and absolute liars. They destroyed multiple articles of my clothing and refused to compensate me for them claiming it’s the manufacturers fault that they destroyed the buttons and fabric in their care????? They intentionally did not return the jacket and pretended it was lost to cover up the fact they damaged it and buy themselves time while they ordered replacement buttons all behind my back as you can see from the email. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I have reported them to trading standards. Unprofessional cowboys.

Avoid this business!!
Avoid this business!!! My wife paid for a ‘premium cleaning’ service for her nearly new Burberry trench coat. They irreversibly damaged the coat gabardine fabric and lining then hid behind their terms and conditions. After badgering them they offered to ‘repair’ the coat which Burberry said was impossible. They run an amateur, rude, combative, and dishonest business. We do not want anyone to have to be treated so poorly. My wife saved up several years to buy the coat and it has been ruined. We didn’t even get the value of the clean refunded. They will pretend they are trying to help but in reality it is lip service to appear that they care. They have a track record of ruining clothing. Stick to local businesses.
