My first visit to this optician was unfortunately not a great experience. As it was my first ever appointment, I was hoping to feel reassured and guided through the process. Instead, the interaction felt very impersonal. I felt more like I was being instructed by a robot than being looked after as a patient. Each process hasnt been explained so well and so as the equipments being used and what was for. There didn’t seem to be much warmth or passion, and the overall manner was not particularly pleasant, which made the experience uncomfortable.

However, I would like to mention that my follow-up visit with the audiologist was completely different. The audiologist was extremely thorough, professional, and genuinely pleasant throughout the appointment. The lady called Daya took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel at ease. It was a very positive and reassuring experience.

I hope the optician side can take some feedback on board, as a more welcoming and personable approach would make a big difference, especially for first-time patients.

I totally trust the companies technical ability when it comes to eye tests. My experience of the St Annes Bayfields is that the staff are not just competent but friendly and helpful. There is a warmth there which makes so much difference.

I attended an appointment for a review following bilateral cataract surgery. I undertook the usual tests - reading letters on the chart with each eye, comparison of different lenses and peripheral vision tests. I also had my eye pressures measured and scans taken of the back of my eyes to compare with ones taken two years ago to check fluid levels, optical nerve and general eye health. The results of all of these tests were clearly explained to me and I was reassured that I met the legal requirement for driving without glasses. I was also given the option to have a pair of glasses for close work as one eye is dominant on long distance and one on short distance. At all times my practitioner was professional but friendly, providing clear explanations at each stage of the examination and answering any queries I had. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bayfields in Harrogate if you are in need of an optician.

Very supportive especially when I changed my mind about an extra pair of glasses.
