Great Salon and lovely staff. Had the Japanese Head Spa today, pure bliss! Would definitely recommend this treatment. Beautiful lighting and the jets felt so relaxing. Lovely kind staff.

Dont waste your time or money
Really disappointed! After being regulars at the owl house day spa we had high hopes for this place in castle donnington.Needless to say, we will not be returning! I bought the afternoon tea and pamper package for myself and my mum for my mums xmas present. This was £79 for afternoon tea and a 30 minute massage. When we arrived we were left sitting in reception for 20 minutes with no offer of a drink or anything. I explained we had our hottub session booked at 12.15 and we had never visited before so it would be good to have a little tour...this was never given as it was 12.20 by the time we got access to the changing rooms so we had to go straight in the hottub (we arrived at the venue at 11.40). We paid £30 for the hottub.. it was luke warm and filthy...scum all round the side of it. Our 30 minute treatment started at 5 past 1 instead of 1 and finished at 25 past,so was a 20 minute treatment. There was no fresh water anywhere round the building if you needed. I got some tap water from the toilet when i asked for some!!!! Last and probably the worse experience of all was the afternoon tea! A'selection' of sandwiches, savory snacks, and sweet treats apparently. We got ONE drink (ive never been anywhere where tea wasnt unlimited on afternoon tea), and if you wanted coffee you could only have an americano. A few weeks before the spa day (so they had notice) i told them we didnt like cheese, butter or egg. The sandwiches we were given were all plain ham with nothing on! We had 2 mini quiches, a plain scone that was hard and dry ( we left them), a dry brownie (also left) and a couple of mini cakes that were ok-thats it!!! Worse afternoon tea ive ever had! Didnt complain as noone there seems interested. Literally everything costs extra, and as the day had already cost us £140 it is definitely not worth the money!
Well I booked a treatment but was…
Well I booked a treatment but was delivered a different treatment on the day. This is the third time this has happened so I think staff training/admin needs to be addressed. I have initially reached out to management regarding my complaint but no response. So unprofessional!
2* customer service / 5* treatments…
2* customer service / 5* treatments Upon booking I was told I couldn’t book a package as I was paying with a gift voucher.. after being told I would have been called back as to why this wasn’t allowed, I didn’t and had to chase several times. They finally said it was ok but wasn’t allowed the deal of the free upgrade to hot tub as I was paying with a voucher, so it was agreed we would proceed with the package only. We were upgraded to waffles free of charge due to how it was dealt with. (The lady who I eventually spoke to Abby, was lovely, very empathetic and helpful). We arrived, the reception staff were sitting on their phones, then greeted. We were took to our treatment room, the treatments and ladies in there were lovely, and we were very happy with our treatments. We went down to the cafe for our drink and food that was included in the package (hot chocolate and cake, waffles in this instance as we were upgraded) when ordering I asked what drink was included, the reply was I dunno, il check.. the lady said there wasn’t one included as we had been upgraded, so when paying for our drinks we were actually only 5p better off even though we had been upgraded FOC! The young lady who served us in the restaurant response to everything we asked her was I dunno, I’ve no idea. These were questions relating to the food, nothing complex. It’s a lovely looking place and it was part of a present for my daughter, luckily she loved it but would I return… for the treatments only, not the service. Such a shame :(
Bad Lash Lift
I went into the West Bridgford store to get a lash lift and the staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout the treatment. After about a week, I came to realise that my lashes didn't look very good. As I've never had the treatment before, I wasn't sure whether it was just me not liking them or it being a poor treatment. I googled what a bad lash lift looks like and the images on Google were very similar to what mine looked like. Some of my lashes were curled back onto my eyelid and others remain uncurled, as well as them being frizzy and clumped together. I am unsure how to fix this!
Avoid!!!
Went for a mummy and me time but had my daughters best friend with me too! Both 15, absolute terrible experience for the money! No care taken and didnt feel very organised! The girls had a facial in a hairdressing seat!! With aveena products!!! Shocking really, then a shoulder massage in a chair over there dressing gowns which I had to pay £8 each for us all to hire a tiny towel and dressing gown? The therapists really didn’t look like they could be bothered and frankly quite rude! On a good note my therapist was really sweet and gave a nice foot massage! Hot tub was not worth the money £15 each for half an hr wasn’t asked for a drink whilst in there! Only option for the drink and cake was hot chocolate!!!! Really? Had to pay full price extra for cold drinks so never even got a drink included! So pretty much £180 for 2 hours!!!! Coming from a therapist back ground of over 20 years! A very bad experience. Awful! Will not be returning and not recommending to anyone! I would appreciate a call and some kind of refund for the huge disappointment!! After reading many reviews I will be highly surprised if anyone does contact me! How is this chain of beauty salon still going I will never know!
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. How they still get pay customers to go back to that salon is unbelievable at Christmas. I paid a lot of money total of £350 for my both daughters to have their eyelashes done my nails to be done for me to have my eyebrows done which were hd definition. When I had my eyelashes done, a number of them fell out on the first day, and yes, they did see me the next day and put them back on. However they kept falling out every single day and was very very poor. My daughter went to have their eyelashes done and to be honest they could’ve done better £80
for the lashes that they had was absolutely shocking. My daughter came home soon as she had them done and she put some more on because you couldn’t tell they had them done it was my fault. I should’ve said something at the time but we was going on holiday and was pushed for time I can say that my nails were done to extremely expectational standard so I will not knock them for that. When I had my HD brows done. I was absolutely mortified with the girl that left me to the way they were. I look like I just been run over by two massive slugs The girl that was doing my eyelashes previously, although it wasn’t her fault but standards were still low. She tried to correct my eyebrows as she could see. I wasn’t happy when she went over to the ladies standing at the reception area. All I could hear them say is it’s like die once they’re on there you can’t you can’t change it well she came back and she wasn’t very good. Wasn’t Happy about that and she said I’ll try and do it myself and she wiped it off and I was left back to just having a waxing of my eyebrows . I don’t think this will get anywhere far because they have many many customers, but for my experience overpriced overcharged unprofessional, I know you’re paying for it just to be sat in a glamorous boutique which to be honest with you is not The lady that came to do my daughters eyelashes phoned on the day this was the 23rd of December saying that the lady Holly couldn’t do it because she’s pregnant and she’s poorly well that wasn’t good enough so they said you could go to the West Bridgeford branch and they will do it there. Well I couldn’t get there and then all of a sudden when I asked for my money to be paid back. All of a sudden they got this lady to come and do it for my daughters which was on the Woodborough branch. I won’t mention the ladies name, but all I can say she’s stunk of cigarettes very unprofessional because she says she’s not from this brunch, but she was helping every two minutes when somebody in the reception didn’t know where anything was or where anything was kept, she kept going getting up every 5 to 10 minutes to sort out someone else’s problem. Never mind that she should’ve just been focusing on my daughter
I doubt I will get a response to this, but I’m just telling you it’s very unprofessional. Do not get your lashes done there or your eyebrows. That’s my opinion and I am really not lying about it.
Prepare to be disappointed
From the moment I arrived I was concerned. Most of the hair and beauty places I have been too previously the staff are well presented. With it being Christmas time and a Friday I can only assume it was dress down day.
I booked the winter warmer which included a sole scrub, facial and massage, before I arrived I filled in a form and added that I have sensitive skin.
The sole scrub consisted of the tops of my feet being scrubbed with a salt that almost took my skin off at no point were the soles of my feet touched. I was then advised to put shoes and socks back on and head to my next treatment not a big deal but surely it would make more sense to carry out this treatment last or in the same room?
I had requested hot stones be added to my massage but unfortunately this hadn’t reached the therapist.
Before the facial commenced I asked the therapist what products were being used and reiterated I have sensitive skin (including rosacea) usually I would be asked this by the therapist but in this instance I had to ensure she had the information, she advised me that the products were Decleor. As soon as she started the treatment the smell of chemicals was repulsive she continued to lather me in it and massage my ears at one point even asking me if the pressure was ok, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. When it came to removal of said Decleor products I am pretty sure she used a baby wipe. I left with dry, inflamed, irritated skin.
Before I left I queried which products were used with the receptionist to which I was told they were Beauty Temple own products so the information was inconsistent. Whatever they were I would like to know as i would avoid using them in the future.
I raised my concerns with the manager who did offer me a complimentary treatment I declined this and requested a refund or at least a partial refund. She was unable to authorise this and said she would call me back to which I am still waiting for.
As a company that advertise themselves as a luxury and indulgent experience I can safely say my experience was anything but that.
Huge waste of time
So I initially booked in for a gel nail set, I couldn’t attend my appointment on the day so I called and left a message apologising (I had only booked it the night before via the website so couldn’t cancel it), to which I got an arsy phone call telling me I hadn’t attended, I apologised and explained I’d left a message which shocked the caller so they clearly don’t listen to them (despite the answer phone telling you to leave one when they don’t answer…) I was busy and couldn’t hear her well so I called back later to re-arranged and explicitly said it was for a ‘BIAB INFILL’ … which they said was fine and then didn’t amend the booking accordingly.
Fast forward to the day of the appointment; I walk in and it’s chaos, so busy and overbooked. 15 minutes after my appointment time I’m seen by a girl who tells me she is going to ‘check a table is available’… why would you need to check when it’s a pre-booked appointment?? I head over and she keeps saying gel polish, i explain what i want (black french tips, nothing fancy) and explain that it should be a BIAB infill, to which she looked very confused and went and got another lady.
i then explain to her that id rang to rearrange and amend the booking, she says its an online booking and i explained again that id rang and amended. she then says they cant infi BIAB they havent done themselves, okay fair enough (although should have been told prior) just remove it and do gel polish. 'no we cant remove gel from other salons…' well 1) why is removal an option on the website
2) why did nobody say when i called
3) you make us fill a form out before coming- dont you think it should be on there..?
to which i replied 'so you cant do anything then..?' and she simply said 'no sorry, i can send you your £8 deposit back'. after which i simply left. Sending my deposit back is the bare minimum you should have done. i was honestly disgusted, it was so awkward and embarrassing. you charge literally £15+ than everywhere else and thats the level of service you have? not only running late but then refusing to do the service all together and wasting my time, not to mention the travel cost just to get into town for the appointment that was supposed to be a little xmas treat. Genuinely appalling.
This is the most expensive acrylic…
This is the most expensive acrylic nails I've ever had - £52 normally pay £32 and they are the worst.
I have sore bits around my nails, the technician hurt me quite a few times with the drill (I think that's what it's called, very hot) and the two nails I had done with a black glitter were smudged before I even got home.
The nails will not last very long and I'm disgusted that for the price I've paid two of them already look a mess.
After having my review deleted on…
After having my review deleted on Google review I am leaving one here now. I have to say this was a terrible and chaotic day out if I’m honest at the castle donnighton ‘spa’. There was a charge of £15 per person to use the hot tub for 30 mins which is crazy considering how much you pay to go there. There was nothing really there to do and didn’t really get attended too once there. Our treatments were later on after waiting ages, which were only 30 mins which were meant to be 45. Within our group one person also walked in twice to their massage, safe to say the manager didn’t care also. The place also wasn’t the cleanest of places, such as shame.

7th Birthday fit for a Princess!
My daughter asked if she could have a manicure for her birthday this year- she didn’t want a party, just a bit of pampering.
I booked for her and my niece to go to Beauty Temple for their Fit for a Princess Manicure, honestly you could see she genuinely felt like she was royalty. She was treated like she was the only person in the world. It was so lovely to see her so happy on the special day.
The ladies knew it was her birthday that day and each therapist wished her a happy birthday (even the ones she wasn’t booked in with). She loved her mocktail and cupcake too.
They went above and beyond- down to including my 4 year old son who was devastated he didn’t get a cupcake as he didn’t understand he wasn’t booked in for the treatment, but the girls offered him one anyway- so his day was made too!
I highly recommend this treatment and the Beauty Temple Salons to anyone. If it’s for you, to pamper your children or a friend/family! You definitely can’t go wrong with Beauty Temple.
Thank you ladies! You were amazing and made my whole family’s day.

A group of 6 of us visited the castle…
A group of 6 of us visited the castle Donnington Retreat as we had received a mothers day package for 3 treatments and afternoon tea & cakes. The experience was awful , the whole day was so badly communicated and unorganised. The 3 treatments were combined into 30 Minutes , not to mention that 2 people walked in during my treatment and also 2 members of staff stood outside talking all through out the treatments. It was mentioned to the manager who had said she would contact me and i have not yet heard anything. The whole experience was so unprofessional and we weren't the only ones who were complaining. it was 14.95 per person just to use the hot tub for 30 minutes which looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks.

Awful experience.
Awful experience.
I booked in for the £49 winter warmer offer by telephone for the Mapperley salon. On the phone I asked if this is suitable for pregnant women, they said yes but for an extra charge of £25. I booked in for Saturday. On the Thursday I received a phone call saying the lady had Covid and can I change my appointment to a later time of 10.15am. That was fine. I also filled out the disclaimer medical form they emailed me with stating I was pregnant. On arrival they took me upstairs in the salon and asked what I was here for. I explained the offer and I am pregnant. The lady then said she is not trained in pregnancy massage and that she would speak to someone. After 5 minutes what I’m assuming was the manager came up and explained no one is trained in pregnancy massage in the salon today so they cannot do it. She also said she didn’t know who booked it?? I then asked for a refund. The lady said they do not do refunds ?? Even though it was their mistake and they can’t do the massage ????????????
She then offered me to return tommorow however she would have to ring the lady to check she is trained in pregnancy massages and ring me back.
How can a professional salon not know or keep note as who is trained in pregnancy massages?
I kept asking for a refund and the lady kept saying they can’t then said she would “see what she can do” ??
My partner rang afterwards and again requested a refund. they finally agreed to refund me.
The whole experience was awful and a waste of time. No professionalism. No organisation. And no customer service skills.
Not the stress you need when you’re pregnant.

I visited Beauty Temple City Centre…
I visited Beauty Temple City Centre (Notts) yesterday for a ‘Royal Pedicure’ with two friends, one who was celebrating her birthday.
Considering the nail polish pedicure was £40 and the treatment had been marketed as Royal, I had high hopes,
I was very disappointed.
It was clearly overbooked, no one offered us a drink on arrival. Two of the three therapists didn’t communicate with us at all with regards to the process or products but talked amongst themselves in another language. The treatment was also clearly rushed. Half way through, we were asked to vacate the pedicure bench and sit on chairs in the waiting area with our clean feet on the dirty floor.
Whilst waiting for the polish to dry, no one checked on us and we were left to take out the tissue that separates the toes on ourselves and had to leave it on the table as there was no bin.
It was clear other customers were unhappy and had been waiting a while but there was no interaction with them from the staff to explain the delay or offer them a drink.
Sadly, there was nothing Royal about the experience.
When I mentioned my disappointment to the desk, they did say that our drink would be removed from the bill, which was kind and I want to recognise this.
All in all though, it was a very poor experience for a premium price.
Very disappointing.
Really reccomend salon!!!
Beauty temple have no consideration of…
Beauty temple have no consideration of their customers. First time customer and they cancelled my appointment when I arrived. No prior courtesy call to rearrange or explain why my appointment has been cancelled. I then had to wait 7 days before my deposit could be refunded. I was promised that a manager would call me on Thursday however I had to chase the salon twice before finally getting my refund. I don’t recommend them and will not be returning. - Nottingham
Royal Manicure - not so royal!
Today I visited the West Bridgford branch of Beauty Temple. I've been visiting this salon since it opened for manicures and the occasional massage and always had good experiences. However, today my treatment was so disappointing, so much so that I will not be returning.
I booked a Royal Manicure (something I treat myself to every year before my holiday). I was checked in, but wasn't offered to browse the colours at my leisure while I waited for 10 minutes.
My Therapist was friendly, however the service was not good. She took me over to the polishes, I felt pressured. I mentioned I wanted a nude or a French manicure. She said she probably won't have time to do a French. Something I've never been told before on previous visits and immediately takes any treat/relaxation away from the entire experience. I persisted and chose the French but I sensed the therapist really didn't want to do it.
When we sat, she asked what shape id like. I requested a squared off shape and she chuckled and said 'ha, I'll do my best'. I found her reaction a little offensive and puzzling, so I asked what shapes she would recommend/what do people usually go for. She just said almond, and carried on with the file. When it came to the French, she spent about 5 minutes trying to find her equipment around the salon, which was so unprofessional. The process was rushed and quite rough with no care taken.
The quality of the finish wasn't up to the usual standard either. There are sharp/rough edges to the nail and polish finish, gel varnish left all over the tips of my fingers and generally looks messy and cakey.
The exfoliation and massage wasn't relaxing at all. It was rushed and no time taken to make it relaxing. It didn't help with the loud drum and base music playing in the background, certainly not something I'd expect in a salon offering relaxing treatments. It was awful and I couldn't wait to get out.
I should have expressed my dissatisfaction when asked, but I didn't feel comfortable and just wanted to leave. To be honest, I just want it taken off and starting again.
As a busy working Mum, taking time to go to the salon isn't easy. Especially when I only visit once or twice a year as a treat on my birthday/pre holiday. This treat is something I really look forward to and don't do often, so I was quite upset at the level of service. If I wanted to be rushed I would have gone to a neighbouring nail bar but I choose the beauty salon to get more relaxing experience.
I will not be visiting again and I have asked for a refund for my treatment.
