They changed the agreed purchase and part exchange after deposit taken and finance in place . My vehicle was valued twice in person by vw and anchor vans at £7500. The agreed part ex with beck evans was £6500.
But against a van I was happy to purchase. Sale agreed . Finance organised and approved . Deposit of 1000 taken . 4 days later Then I recived a TEXT message saying they would only offer 5500. On my van that they have not even seen to justify that.
Shocked that they do this via a text .
Now I have finance and no vehicle and have to wait to recieve my deposit back. Awful treatment and to waste a person time and credit score now affected and all out of my hands .

Re your reply . Why did you not mention thay when Matt colgate contacted me with the value for my van I said that I had better offers from persons that had seen my van and thay I was not interested.
Then the next day 15 th August Peter called me and said you would offer 6500 . A thousand less than my best offer but I accepted at that . Agreed and paid deposit as asked to get it off sale so no one else buys it ( Peters words ) . Then 4 days later after no view of my vehicle and all in place to purchase you changed the agreement . I felt this was because you lost your cut for not using in house finance . That's more to the point eh Ben . Ruthless sales policy and truths are rare.

Absolutely shocking. I want my deposit back
I had placed a deposit on a black BMW from this company. The advert was brilliant, all of the imperfections were well hidden, it looked amazing. When I arrive, after my 4 hour journey which they knew I was coming from far away, I took one look at the car and my heart sunk. The front bumper was sun damaged, due to this it had faded to purple. The car had two large cracks in the windscreen. The car was covered in scuffs, chips and a dent on the back. The inside also had marks and sun damage. The front bars on the BMW inside the grill were in terrible shape, the paint was half off and would have to be wrapped. The sales man didn’t even know about that but it was the first thing I noticed! How can you sell a car and you don’t know what is wrong with it! Makes me wonder what mechanical issues it had that they wouldn’t had told me! There was none of this on the advert. I explained to the sales man who was still trying to sell me the car and told me the purple was meant to be like that and then accepted that it is intact sun damage. I was not allowed my deposit refunded. I understand I signed however this is false advertisement, the car was in terrible shape and I want my deposit back. I didn’t take the car for obvious reasons. It was not what the advert said. The MOT was done 1 day prior with NO advisory’s however the windscreen SHOULD have at least had an advisory, it is clear this company raced it through the MOT to just get a sale. I want my deposit back or I will take this further.
I understand this is a 2017 year car and I do not explain the paint work to be in the most amazing condition however, I was disappointed to say the least. The fact that NONE of this was on the advert and I can’t get my deposit back is just disgusting.

Bought Range Rover Evoque
Bought Range Rover Evoque, and after three months, we noticed drops of water leaking into the passenger side from the top of the windscreen and getting worse. When contacted Beck Evans, they said they can't do anything because of the 100-day warranty scheme, and this issue not come under their extended one year warranty. When I stressed it's a water leak and we found only now because of the heavy rain, a wonderful staff told me... you should have checked while you buy and also in England every week is raining. Best possible reply for a customer who spent 22K.
I insisted this issue was there during the time of purchase and rather than saying the 100 days warranty, show some responsibility and get this sorted somehow. They ignored.
Till sale, very polished customer service, and once we got an issue, the real customer service was delivered and thoroughly disappointed. Never ever go anywhere near.

Appalling, indifferent “service”
An online enquiry for a part exchange valuation and vehicle pictures resulted in responses with no further details asking if I had everything needed, but no pictures and no exchange value. I followed this with a phone call as soon as the dealership opened, was told everyone was busy. I said I had very little time as I was expected to collect another vehicle the following day, so if I was going to switch time was of the essence. The woman said she would pass on the message that it was urgent. 2.5 hours later I called again and the phone was answered with a basic “hello”, no business name etc. After stating my position I was told the vehicle I was interested in was not arriving until later in the week and nothing further would be available until then.
Appalling, indifferent “service”. No idea of time, courtesy or professionalism.

Sales Manager Needs Training
My wife wants a Jaguar iPace, and Beck Evans has 2 in stock. She had asked me to speak to them about a particular vehicle we are very keen to buy. I talked to the sales manager, who was disinterested and arrogant. I asked some basic questions about whether the vehicle had its charge cables as it was electric and the service history, which he said he could only answer once the car was sold. I wanted to know, relating to the tyres, the tread depth roughly so we can see if we will be into replacing them as they are £250 a tyre for the car. I was told we don't know you until you've bought it and its been through the workshop where a salesman can't check that. I explained that if they are not far off replacement, I would need to consider that in the price, 3mm is the standard for all dealers, but it is good to know if they are on 3mm or close to it, as you will end up with a hefty bill for tyres within year 1. He said there is no movement on the price, and they are the cheapest of all cars regardless of the condition or tyres.
Expecting someone to buy a car and not giving any information on the basics alongside a bad attitude differs from what I expected from Beck Evans. We will not be purchasing the car. I can't recommend them based on my experience. Bought a car from a different dealer on the same day. The difference in customer service was like night and Day.
Interesting to see another reviewer had the same issue not that long ago.

Sold van not fit for purpose
Paid £13,000 for a 2019 van with 60k miles. After just 5 months and only 3000 miles the van needs a new engine.
To your response: When purchasing the vehicle I was told I'd be contacted about extending the warranty when it was due to expire. This never happened.
I also brought down the vehicle to your garage 5 months after purchasing and when the issue appeared. Your mechanic plugged in and made the problem worse the first time, causing the engine to temporarily not start at all. By a stroke of luck he managed to resolve the problems he caused and get it back to the state it had arrived in.
I never expected you to completely fix the issue and understand that the van was out of warranty. What I'm warning potential customers about is the lack of goodwill or willingness to even discuss possibilities given the van had done so few miles since purchase.

Great experience
I could not have wished for a more straightforward, hassle free experience from Beck Evans and, in particular, Rob.
The price that I paid for my car was very competitive (to the extent that I travelled from the North West to purchase it). Even the part exchange price that I was offered bettered the amount that I have been offered by authorised dealerships and webuyanycar.com.
To enable me to view the car remotely, Rob prepared a personalised video in which he focused on all the areas that were important to me. I was then easily able to ask questions (by phone, email and whatsapp) receiving a very prompt and courteous response each time.
I felt that Rob and the team were highly motivated in trying to ensure I was happy with the sale rather simply than looking to increase their profit margins (as I had experienced at main dealerships). For example, Rob went over and above in contacting Mercedes to arrange for a new key to be ordered and delivered to my local dealership. Rob even offered to pick me up from the station to take me to the garage on the day of collection!
I could not recommend this company more highly and sincerely hope to use their services again.

BMW sale
We recently bought a BMW 5 series from Beck Evans. We dealt with Jay Drummond. From start to finish, the service was outstanding. Jay provided a high level of customer service, was helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. A technical issue I had was also dealt with by Billy within 24 hrs. Great service, would highly recommend this company.

You may wish to read before engaging with Beck Evans to purchase a car.
Do not be fooled or comforted by the FCA status they claim to hold. They are not part of the Motor Ombudsman as they claim on their website. They have complaints process but did not follow it. They have been reported to Trading Standards for their behaviours.
It has taken me 3 months of pure pain to fight to have my £1000 deposit returned with a final ultimatum of going to Court….
I have engaged with my bank, the Halifax, Citizens Advice, Mastercard, Motor Ombudsman, Financial Ombudsman, who have all been amazing.
I have on the evening of Thursday 6 April 2023 received a refund of my £1,000, exactly three months later.
The deposit was placed against a blue Porsche Macan. The car was damaged while getting a service at Porsche Tonbridge prior to purchasing. I rejected the car immediately giving Beck Evans notice prior to the service being carried out.
Beck Evans admitted it had been hit but refused to return the deposit stating I had entered into a contract verbally and the deposit was non-refundable.
They have accused me of being threatening which is untrue; all communications were made professionally by email. They repeatedly ignored all emails, eventually made an offer of £608 refund stating I needed to pay for the Porsche service.
Still no communication, my bank engaged and assisted with the legal position and refunded the £250 paid on my Mastercard.
Final advice and assistance from the Citizens Advice was to formally log a County Court Judgement against Beck Evans, as all the paperwork clearly evidenced an undoubted position.
With a final letter with a threat of Court, I suddenly get a request for my bank details after multiple emails and THREE months later,
I have attached an email as confirmation of the detail, so one can see the lengths I have to go to to get my deposit back. They evidence a DISRESPECTFUL, DISHONEST & DISGRACEFUL company.
AN EMAIL TO SUPPORT MY STATEMENTS MADE AS FOLLOWS:
Dear Derek,
TIME LINE OF EVENTS
* 08/01/23- We have turned up at your Beck Evans site on Sunday 8th January 2023 to speak with someone regarding the vehicle we had put a deposit down on as we noted damage when viewing the car in the dry.
* 08/01/23- We were told to email by the gentleman in the picture.
* 08/01/23- We emailed whilst on site as requested, as clearly the gentleman was not interested in the issue.
* 08/01/23- We had an email back (see below at 14:19 on the same day (Sunday 8 January 2023) from Sam Evans acknowledging the email suggesting Ben would pick this up on Monday 9 January 2023 in the afternoon.
* 09/01/23- Having not heard we have called Monday and told someone would call back.
* 10/01/23- We called Tuesday and told someone would call back; we were told on the call Beck Evans WOULD be arranging a refund.
* 13/01/23- Your email was a surprise on Friday afternoon, stating we were not entitled to a refund.
* 13/01/23- We called and were told the management team including yourself do not work from the site and no one there to take my call. Your colleagues were unable to transfer the call and we were told to email only.
* 13/01/23- As requested, we responded on the same day (14:24hrs)
* 16/01/23- We called Beck Evans and happen to have the call picked up by the original salesman (Peter Raithby). Once again, we were told the management do not work from the site and we had to liaise via email.
* 16/01/23- We sent another email (17:43hrs) copy attached below. We asked politely for a call.
* TO BE CLEAR WE HAVE NOT HAD ONE CALL FROM BECK EVANS
OBSERVATIONS:
* We are staggered that we are now 12 days (08 January 2023-19 January 2023) and we have had no returned call or communication (apart from one email from you (Derek Rayner- Company Secretary) stating we are not entitled to a straight refund of our £1,000 deposit)

THERE IS NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER OF THE COMPANY ATTEMPTING TO COMMUNICATE AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE.
Highly disappointed with the overall professionalism and underhand approach, hence taking the time to write a review as a warning to others who are considering a purchase from this business.
Great sales and post sales experience
Recently purchased a Range Rover. I live 160 miles from them and was a bit concerned that should I have any post sale problems then it would not be a simple thing to pop it back to sort out. I needn't have worried because while I did have a couple of niggly issues with the car Beck Evans sorted it out by arranging to pay for rectification. The car is now sorted at no cost to me. Thanks to all at Beck Evans and particularly Matthew for a professional sales experience, Andrew for his supportive approach post sale and for Billy and colleagues for sorting the niggles.
