VERY MISLEADING ADVERT

I went to the Southcote beefeater after seeing the website showing on the"Whats on menu lunch menu" which SAID," 2 courses for £8.95 Mon-Fri. So i drove there and was told," even though this was FRIDAY there was no deal because this was a bank holiday" (the whole reason for attending), I Went back home and it CLEARLY SAYS MON-FRIDAY but there was no mention of a exclusion of the deal if it was a bank holiday. Very misleading what a waste of petrol time and effort.

ARUNDEL

ARUNDEL - we always use this on our way wetswards for a breakfast stop. When mass catering it would be very easy to cheapen food quality to save money but here the exact opposite is true. The food - especially the bacon - is excellent. Staff are ultra friendly and for £9.50, an 'all you can eat breakfast' including everything is excellent value

Treated very badly

We have eaten at The Anchor, Scunthorpe for many years but have never been treated like we were last night. Booked a table for 7pm, our usual time, and on arrival the place was almost empty. The two of us were taken by the head waiter to a table in the centre of the main dining area and gave our drinks order. Within a couple of minutes I heard a party come in who were told 'the first 13 of you are seated here .....' and what I assume was a whole football team of children ranging from around 6yrs to 10yrs with a few adults arrived. Now I agree everyone is welcome at Beefeater, but these were rowdy and undisciplined and kept running in and out of the nearby fire exit, propping the door open on occasion. They had brought a football with them to play with! It was a cold evening and the draught from the open door became unbearable, so we requested a move to a quieter warmer spot. I tried to explain to the head waiter that really, because he knew this large party was arriving, he should have at least given us the option of sitting somewhere else. He was argumentative and said that WE should have asked to be seated somewhere quiet. HE knew they were coming, we didn't. This whole situation spoilt our evening out and we couldn't wait to go home. Customer satisfaction - there wasn't any.

Extremely disappointing

Following a nice day out, l visited the Broomside Park restaurant with my family. The restaurant looked nice and the menus very promising, but expensive. Sadly, the food was very bland. If not for the brown sauce and ketchup, it would have been flavourless. We were so disappointed. An adult meal costing £20 should have been very much better.

Perfect until the overcharge!

After receiving my 4th Coid-19 vaccination, I strolled down to Dundee's Discovery Point last Friday and was immediately made very welcome at the restaurant. Seated facing the window, I had a fine view of the Silvery Tay and passers-by.

On perusing the menus, I plumped for the £9.45 2-course lunch, ordering Fish & Chips - I repeat, Fish & Chips - followed by Caramel Apple Betty, both of which were delicious. I had a long wait between courses, but an apology was forthcoming, so that was fine.

Since my wife passed away (10 years ago this month) I have dined alone, so I don't like to hang around after a meal as there is nobody with whom to chat. At my request the bill was brought promptly, but the £9.45 had suddenly jumped to £11.94. I couldn't understand this. Had I been charged for the sweet? However, not wishing to make a fuss in case I had misread the menu (red face!) I paid up with my £10 Barclays 'Reward' card, adding £1.94 cash. Regarding tips, I go by the service received rather than a percentage, and on this occasion was prepared to use the 55p balance and add £1.50 cash, making a £2.05 tip. Instead, I was left with only £1.70 in my pocket for the tip. Good job the bus home was free!

It was only at home some time later that I checked the receipt, and it clicked. The extra £2.49 was not for the sweet, but 'Haddock & Chips'.

I had ordered Fish & Chips. FISH & Chips! The word 'Haddock' did not pass my lips. No, I am NOT mistaken. Had the menu shown 'Fish & Chips' and 'Haddock & Chips' as two separate dishes, and I'd wanted the Haddock, that is what I would have ordered. However, as 'Haddock' was an 'add-on', I would have said, "Fish & Chips, please, and I'll splash out on the Haddock as the sun is shining". This is the way I operate, always have done. Add a spot of fun to the proceedings.

Now, I expect this was a genuine error on either the waitress's or chef's part, rather than 'Company Policy' to 'Up' the sales for a bonus, and I have no wish to land anyone in trouble, but there is NO confusion on my part - I was overcharged £2.49.

I had picked up a Loyalty Card - which was swiped - with the intention of registering and returning from time to time. Indeed, I said to my waitress that this was the start of me going out and about again after Covid as I was spending too much time at home, AND I indicated my next visit would be for (I pointed at the card) an Easter Sundae. But no dice. I will NOT be returning to Beefeater at Discovery Point, Kingsway West or anywhere else. I tried to send this post to the company but could find no direct email address, just their restrictive survey form.

Had it not been for the overcharge and lack of an email address, this would be a 5-star review. (NOW I find below that there is, in fact, a contact address.)

Incidentally, the expensive haddock was on the small size. I've had fish elsewhere that struggle to be accommodated on the table, let alone the plate!

Lovely staff

Visited the White Rock Paignton restaurant as we were staying at the hotel nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome so I’d certainly give them 5 stars. The only downside was that some of the menu items weren’t available with the meal deal option that we purchased in conjunction with our hotel stay unless we paid extra; this could be made clearer to avoid disappointment and extra payments. Also the veggie/vegan options aren’t very imaginative but I suppose when you go to a restaurant named ‘Beefeater’ it’s to be expected.

An hour later one very miserable little boy as food had not arrived
2 hours later still waiting our main course only rob discover waitress had gone on break.
Will not go back service is shocking abd only half the menu available even tho it was Mother’s Day they should be stocked with all food items 🥲
Was looking forward to my Mothersday experience

Diabolical service, cold food, ignorant staff

Visited Countess Wear near Exeter and had appalling service.

Meals took a ridiculous amount of time to arrive, wrong accompaniments, cold (not warm) COLD food. Cold chips on the plates were changed by the staff for COLD chips in a bowl instead.

Staff disinterested in the issues, waiter didnt even speak when clearing our plates, nor offer dessert etc. Struggled to even find someone to get us the bill. Had to resort to standing at the entrance so they thought we were new customers!

Contacted head office and they showed no more concern about the issues than they did in the restaurant itself, infact, they told me that I should have raised the issue at the time- which is EXACTLY what I did, but they just weren't interested.

The company explained that because of the "current climate" they may have been experiencing staff shortages. Staff shortages don't prevent a member of staff from speaking and offering desserts or more drinks, nor does it put the wrong accompaniments on the plates. Neither does a 'staff shortage' put cold chips on a plate then change them for more cold chips but in a bowl instead!

All in all, a total waste of time and money that evening! Then to be told by the Company that they can't (or won't?) Do anything about it as I should have raised the issue at the time, just adds insult to injury as I DID raise it at the time bit they just didn't care.

Went to beefeater Heaton Park

Went to beefeater Heaton Park, Manchester, was not very good, staff were lovely, waited ages for the order, half the food was cold, ordered chicken roast, veg was hard, potatoes hard and stuffing like concrete, the chicken was really nice but that was all, would not recommend it and will not be going back, had better at cheaper restaurants

Excellent food and service

We held our Golden Wedding Reception for 22 people at lunchtime in The Watermill and the meals were first class. We were looked after by Karen D, who made sure everything ran smoothly. With help from two other members of staff, all the meals were delivered within a couple of minutes. Karen also cut the cake for us. We were not rushed and everyone enjoyed their meal and were impressed by the service received from Karen and her two helpers.
