Bensons For Beds - Solihull Reviews 

I recently ordered a bed from the Solihull branch of Bensons for Beds and initially had a very pleasant experience with a lovely sales assistant. However, my experience quickly turned disappointing when I needed to cancel the order due to the size of the bed.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t read the terms and conditions in full at the time of purchase. When I contacted the store just 8 days later to request a refund, I was informed that a cancellation fee of 20% would apply — amounting to £300. I was genuinely shocked by the size of this charge, especially given that delivery was still over 5 weeks away.
The store manager advised that customer services would provide the same response. After expressing my concerns to customer services about the fairness of such a high fee, the store eventually offered to reduce the charge to 10%. Even so, I feel this remains excessive for a cancellation well before delivery or dispatch.
This experience has left me feeling that customers are not given sufficient flexibility for large purchases where circumstances can change. I would strongly encourage anyone considering buying a bed or other big-ticket item to take extra time before committing — shop around, be completely sure of your choice, and most importantly, read the terms and conditions carefully as you only have seven days including the day you bought the item to return without incurring any charges.
Based on my experience, I would personally consider alternative retailers in future.

Whole experience has been exceptional. Steve at Bensons in Solihull was fantastic. He was helpful, approachable, friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy, exactly what you want from a salesman. Delivery arrived exactly when we were told it would, communication was excellent, delivery guys were brilliant. Really could not fault a single thing. Extremely happy, highly recommend Bensons, could not wish for a better service.

We had a very positive experience at Bensons for Beds, largely thanks to Ryan. He was extremely patient while we tried the same mattresses several times, and his calm, respectful manner immediately put us at ease.

He took the time to understand what we were looking for and offered clear, practical advice on how best to test the mattresses, which helped us feel confident in our decision.

What stood out most was his non-pressured approach — his focus was clearly on helping us find the right mattress for our needs rather than simply making a sale. This made the whole experience comfortable, supportive, and genuinely positive.

In contrast, we did briefly experience a more sales-led approach from another member of staff, which did not feel as comfortable for us personally. Ryan’s calmer, more customer-focused manner was the reason we chose to proceed with our purchase.

We bought a mattress, no bed, and we said early on that we didn’t want to discuss finance of any kind.

I always take my pillow with me when away from home, but this time I forgot it. The Solihull store was not a big detour from the motorway and I was delighted to be able to replace my Dunlopillo pillow half way to my destination. The shop was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.

Ryan was attentive and answered all our questions with professionalism.
