Best Western Watford... do not stay there, paper thin walls, hold on your card...

Best Western Watford...
I have to say when I went into this hotel it looked clean and I was pleasantly surprised by the staff, they were helpful and nice to deal with. We had booked two rooms for a family visit to my grandson for his first birthday. On arrival we checked in and was told that they needed to hold £50 per room as a deposit. Which I paid. When we got to the rooms which were adjoining we realised that the walls are very thin. We could literally hear when our daughter spoke in the adjoining room. We stayed for 3 nights and on the final night there was a couple in the room to the other side of my who were arguing from 2 a.m. to about 4 a.m. I reported this to the reception desk who came and dealt with it. It did quieten down for a little and then started again. On check out I spoke to the girl at reception to say that they should inform the guest that the walls are paper thin as we were up most of the night due to the noise in the room next door. I wasn't offered any compensation. However on leaving I was told that hold on my card for my deposit was released. I checked two days later still no lift on the hold so I rang the hotel to be told that it could take between 3 -14 days for it to reach my bank. The insinuation was that it was my banks fault. I confirmed that the release delay is their fault as my bank don't have the hold on it. The receptionist asked did I wish to speak to the General Manager and I said no. As far as I am concerned they never point out that it will take that long to get your money back. I was told there is a note at the reception desk. Amazing the notes telling visitors to be respectful are in large writing on the doors etc., but this note is small on the desk. I never saw it and it was never pointed out to me. Obviously I will not be staying in any Best Western ever again and after reading the various reviews here I think that is most people's views.

DO NOT STAY NOR JUST PARKING THERE

DO NOT STAY NOR JUST PARK THERE SPECIALLY AIRPORT PARKING. THEY WILL DECEIVE YOU AND KEEP YOUR MONEY, PILLING UP MONEY FROM DECEIVING MORE CUSTOMERS. LOOK FOR MORE REVIEWS AND YOU'LL SEE THERE'S MORE. WHAT THEY DID TO ME THEY ALSO DID TO MANY OTHERS THROUGH SKYPARKSECURE AND LOOKING4PARKING.
THEY SOLD PARK AND RIDE AND TURNED TO BE JUST-PARK AND TAKE YOUR KEYS. THEY DO NOT RESPOND FOR EXPLANATIONS ON THEIR MISS SELLING AND THE COMPARRISON SITE WILL PASS YOU ON TO THEM. THE CARPARK IS NOT SECURED, THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS. YOU'LL JUST GO AROUND AND AROUND.

Putney Hotel BW is not even a hotel

Putney Hotel BW is not even a hotel; apparently, it is closed as a hotel and is an accommodation for immigration. Whether this is true or not, the hotel is in fact closed, Putney BW and main BW websites show hotel is 'currently closed'.
I recently did a three-day course at this building as a course student, and apparently, we were in a boardroom. The room looked nothing like a boardroom, and had just chairs without tables, or even a boardroom table. The place was very dirty, piles of dust everywhere, no soap or paper hand towels in the toilets on day 1, the instructor had to request these. The floor looked like it had not been vacuumed for over a year, and torn with some torn sections taped over, while rest was not.
This place had no H & S aspect what so ever. Having to get on the floor to carry out training tasks for the course was no delight, with some of us having reactions to dust and god knows what unseen microscopic microorganisms within the tatty carpet! In addition, sometimes tripping over the uplifted section of the carpet.
I would recommend that any organisation that choose to use this building for courses, look at the place first before booking your course there. The course event was great, but the owner(s) and staff of this building should have made sure the room had been cleaned before hiring it out to the organisation doing the course. It should mostly have been vacuumed (thoroughly) and had no Health & Safety issues before the course event started.

Unfortunately not the best hotels in…

Unfortunately not the best hotels in the world, everything from being given a key to a room that hadn't been cleaned, guest room and the door wouldn't lock to being woken up in early hours by noisy guests!

Guess what I won't be staying in another best western ever again.

Very Dirty in need of a deep clean and renovation.

The Royal Chase Hotel Shaftesbury
Arrived first impressions were not a great start and my heart sank.
Fire Exits blocked by furniture.
Walls marked badly round windows and guttering blocked with moss and overflowing especially with it raining heavy. Chimneys greenery growing out of it.
Entrance was very dirty. Full of cobwebs and dust. Reception looked dowdy. The receptionist was lovely however and really pleasant.
We entered our room and was really disheartened at the level of cleanliness and overall care and attention to detail. I went and asked if we could be changed into another room, but the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't do this as we were staying for 3 nights which was unfortunate.
The bedding was dirty and I had to ask for the bedding to be changed which it was changed, changed straight away by the receptionist as she was the only person on shift and she was really pleasant about it.
The window sills were filthy thick with dust and mould. The fans were thick with dust and all top of mirrors were also just as thick with dust. The Kettle was black inside dirty which I had to clean before I used it, however I just couldn't bring myself to use it after having to clean it. Under the bed has not had any attention for some time either as filthy thick with dirt and food. If we hadn't booked for 3 nights and hadn't booked activities in the area and hadn't had our autistic child with us we would of moved to a different accommodation.
The pool area needs some tlc too. Maintenance is an issue in the pool area my child who is 6 years old cut his foot on broken tiles on the steps which I did report. NO accident form was filled out or offered. I did see to my child's cut myself and clean the wound properly as there wasn't any staff available to help as the pool are has no staff in there.
The changing facilities are very wet and dirty and are not chacked throughout the day and the receptionist did say that its best to use our room to get changed as the changing rooms are always wet.
The toilets in the hotel are not cleaned properly they just get a quick wipe and mop not throughly cleaned, nothing is moved, bins are dusty and dirty around them toilets look clean enough just not not done to a high standard.
The ceilings are all watermarked and stained but know this is just a aesthetic thing and not a cleanliness thing.
My stay overall at the hotel was really not that great and cleanliness is just basic practice you'd expect when you pay for a stay somewhere whether it's a 2* or a 5*
The ONLY GOOD POINT of this hotel is the breakfasts our morning breakfasts were ALWAYS REALLY GOOD. Food was always of a good standard cooked well and always had some good choice.
We did try the evening menu however the evening food was NOT that great was more of a FROZEN Ready meal type standard. If you want a good evening meal your best to go over the road to the pub who do a cracking meal.
The bar is not always easy to find someone to get a drink from as only one person available on shift so finding someone can be somewhat tricky.
So unfortunately our stay and this hotel only gets one star fir us and we will not go there again.
We have been to many Best Western hotels before and this one is bar far the worst.

If I knew how horrible they treat their customers, I would never have used them. The name is just a "group" they have no real influence or control over the hotels that sign up to use the name, nor do they care how people are treated by their hotels.

Best western Mornington hotel london

Received an email from booking.com that I had to update my card details otherwise my hotel will be cancelled. Updated them straight away, 2 hours later an email from best western to say it’s cancelled and that I need to update my detail or pay in full to keep reservation (I’m not staying here until oct 2024 on free cancellation). I rang up to a very rude receptionist who said I need update details, I told her I already have it went back and forth she put fone down on me. So emailed and got same response update your details or pay now. I sent them confirmation that I had updated bank details but no the response was the same. I am sure they didn’t read the emails properly just same words every time! Update bank details or pay now!! Feels like they want me to pay now for hotel.

Best Western Airport - Copenhagen

Awful hotel, do not stay here. As an experienced and frequent traveller, you get to an airport hotel after a long day's work and want a beer, food and bed. Well, no food, nice staff member, but nothing in the area open - this is 21:10.

Now the room, dear lord. Tiny, smells damp, wall are paper thin, bed, uncomfortable, the noise - all night long - banging, noisy comings and going, just awful.

So, the room, pillows smell of sweat, literally stink. Bathroom, just tiny and stinks.

Oh, did I mention the noise.

As a business traveller- DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! It ranks in my top 5 of awful.

EXCELLENT experience

EVERYTHING about this hotel exceeded expectations !

Excellent hotel ,spotlessly clean ,very well appointed -superb comfy US made beds ( ! ) and delicious food.

What made all the difference was the energised , "can do" attitude of the team who looked after us with such kindness and attention to detail.

From Daisy, Alex, Hannah, and Ash on Reception , Aaron in the restaurant and Nathan in the Spa the warmth and positivity , no request was too much trouble , such a refreshing experience !

I cannot recommend the hotel or the staff highly enough and as a result we have joined the BW membership and will actively look at BW first on our next break away.

Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable in creating such a relaxing and comfortable environment.

Best Western Carlton Blackpool - Take your business elsewhere

Best Western Carlton Blackpool .
Booked to stay at The Best Western Carlton Blackpool for a short trip to participate in the Blackpool Pier end to end, sadly due to the huge pollution in the sea the event was cancelled at very short notice. This I would consider a act of god or the water companies inadequacy !! Therefore I would have expected the hotel would have maybe made an exception and refunded the cost of the room I booked, but NO point blank refused to refund or defer the booking. I would never use or recommend this place. Go elsewhere, perhaps to a more accommodating hotel.

Never again

We stayed at the Hall Garth Hotel near Darlington. The hotel is tired and in need of love and attention. How could this be a Signature collection hotel?? The room we had was the one in the ads with a 4 poster bed. The room was large but so tired, mould in the bathroom, plugs that didn't work and the pillows were so hard we woke with neck ache and had to buy some new ones at a supermarket because reception said they were all hard and couldn't help! When we returned the first day we found an unmade room only to see in the info if you want the room made up you have to book it to be done. Not told this on booking.com!

Would have been nice to have the leisure facilities included in the price rather than an upgrade given the cost of the room.
Not sure booking.com is the site to use as it would seem they dont check info.

The hotel Glendower was booked through…

The hotel Glendower was booked through hotels.com and they made an almighty mess up, The room they let us book was unaccessible for a wheelchair and hotel was fully booked, But for the brilliant fantastic staff we would have been home bound but they switched a room for us which was OK then we had just sat at dining table and the receptionists came in and said they have found us a better room for the wheelchair and came and helped me to move our belongings very nice to do so the room was perfect so a VERY BIG THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF for going the extra mile to help us exceptional brilliant and couldn't do any more than they did for us THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN.
just for reference the lift needs upgrading mybe a Disabled lift opens both sides if you have the need to go to other block if possible, and another one the Restaurant needs a better menu no choice if you had a better menu you could fill the Restaurant on a evening when customer's come back to the hotel they would dine in rather than going out for a meal either by taxi or drive taxi expensive and inconvenient driving someone had to keep of of any alcohol so if you had a proper menu you would fill the restaurant and sell more drinks making it more profitable business best wishes Maurice

Executive Suite is definitely NOT executive. Best Western customer service disgraceful!!
I used tesco vouchers to stay here in August 2023. Firstly, not impressed that price for executive room was about £30 less on Best Western than the link we had to use to process the tesco voucher code. This was NOT because of any special deals either. That in itself is very wrong!
The hotel was breing re-painted externally and was looking nice. Staff seemed friendly.
Good point was that the room was big and sea view was lovely.
When we entered the executive suite we were greeted by a musty smell. The windows were all open and as a result there were many many tiny flies over all the windows. TV mount was for a much larger TV, as shown on room picture when selecting it, but the TV on the mount was only about 32inch.
Carpet wasn't fitted well. Lots of loose rolls. Curtains smelt very dusty. Bathroom floor tiles had many areas with lots of grout missing making them feel sharp underfoot in places. Some floor tiles made cracking noises as walked over. Shower section had a shower head that was in absolute desperate need of a good clean. Very brownish looking and yuk. Bath was fine. Various items of furniture in the room didn't match and whilst the curtains and bedspread visually looked fine, this was most certainly not an executive looking or feeling room at all.
We did ask at reception if we could change rooms but were categorically told none were available. Strange as the hotel did not seem busy. We asked about fly spray for the fly issue but again, no joy and not really interested about the issue or sorting anything for us at all. Very dissappointing lack of customer service.
Breakfast was nice and tasty but the extras were expensive.
When we gave feedback to Best Western we were told we should have complained on the day. We told them we had but nothing was done. Equally, Best Western have done nothing to refund or compensate after the fact either, all they said was they have plenty of returning guests. Disgraceful attitude. This is most certainly NOT good customer service and ultimately if you book an executive room it should be an executive experience and it definitely wasn't.
Also, whilst I have cats and love my cats, I do not expect to see a cat roaming a restaurant area. No mention of it on the hotel website and no consideration if any guest are allergic.
Because of the room condition, how nothing was sorted, a ridiculous very poor response from Best western from there feedback team and the fact the room cost more via Tesco link as opposed to Best Western site, I DO NOT recommend this hotel or Best Western. If Best western feedback team had done something to compensate/refund me i might have chalked it up to poor location choice but seeing as the feedback representative was equally devoid of customer service and not at all bothered whether the experience reflected very negatively on Best western, I wouldn't recommend Best Western at all.
Go use a Premier Inn Plus Room instead, a lot lot better!

Overall a good hotel

I am a regular at the Hotel in Homestead Court, Welwyn Garden City.

Easy to book a reservation via the website.
The rooms in the hotel are always clean and well presented. The beds are so nice and comfortable. The pillows are soft. I had a good night sleep every time.

The room comes with a desk, a chair, a kettle and cups for tea and coffee. Perfect for working on.

There is a car park here for your car which is handy when you live far away and it's your only way of transport.

There is a park nearby which is ideal for going on walks. Within a walking distance from this hotel there is a pub called the Chieftain, along with shops, cafes and a library.

The staff are welcoming and professional.
The manager knows me. He's good, he is frequently present which is what I want to see.

The only downside is it can be quite expensive. And the lift is very old and slow, that can be replaced.

The best thing is I get what I pay for which is a peace and quiet break outside the capital city.

No matter what the season is, this is a wonderful place to come and rest. I live in London and I come here to get away from the noisy overcrowded city to do some reading and writing.

Overall, a good hotel. I recommend.

I will be returning for my next break in the near future.
