I do the Box fit and seated exercise classes run by Angelo. I am enjoying the gym very much but this happens with good attitudes from staff. Such as Angelo.
Thank you for everything Angelo.

Fantastic venue with wonderful, accomodating and helpful staff. This was our second time choosing the venue for my daughter's birthday and once again it didn't disappoint. Thank you for making her day so special!highly recommended!

Booked to go today with my daughter and 4 grandchildren
When we got there just before 12 I realised I’d booked ( and paid for) the 11 o’clock session
The lovely lady on reception couldn’t have been more helpful sorting things out for me
We went in to the session at 12 and the kids had a lovely time
It’s a great soft play with really nice staff
Thank you so much

The sauna reeks. And it's not sweat... The gym is quite dirty and definitely needs better cleaning. Quite disappointed considering the steep price.

We organised a birthday party for two little girls and booked two rooms at Better Welling Garden City. The staff were very accommodating and informative, especially as we had a few requests regarding the table and room arrangements right up until the last day.
Everything was handled easily and smoothly, and the kids had a great time on the trampolines! The staff also allowed us to finish at our own pace without feeling rushed, which made the whole experience very enjoyable.
Overall, a lovely experience and we would happily recommend it for children’s birthday parties.

They are not a charitable institution, they don’t care about patrons who have been attending for years.
No complaints are dealt with. The same issues from 6 years ago are still happening and actually worse.
Dirty and filthy. They couldn’t handle just the normal gym attendees, but added a children’s play centre that is very mismanaged.
Whilst complaining to the centre manager whilst adjacent to the play centre a football was launched across the wall, narrowly hitting him and myself and even he was shocked.
There should not be any footballs being kicked in that vicinity. His own staff clearly aren’t doing their job or there aren’t enough staff.
Our classes never start on time, either us patrons or the instructor have to search for a life guard to open the training pool
area. ( bear in mind on a Wednesday morning) aqua is the first class and it’s only a 45 minute class.
The instructor has questioned this and been told by reception that well it’s still 08:58 and the class doesn’t start until 9am so stop complaining.
Meanwhile we are all standing like cattle behind the gates,When we finally locate a lifeguard and the pool is opened the areas are filthy, bits of food, fruit peels
, plasters and stains all around the side of the pool.
And then the speakers don’t work or have not been charged, so the instructor tries to get people moving with no music whilst your lifeguards just stare into space.. just rubbish … so essentially that 45 minute class is reduced to just about 25 minutes of nonsense and yet you are charitable nothing … you just don’t care.
Your survey only allows me to choose one date .. NONE of the last last 6 Wednesday classes have gone smoothly .. just a load of rubbish and this has been the case for over 7 years.
Charitable my foot just a money hungry organisation hiding behind the word “charitable” to escape taxes!

Having qualified for an old age discount, a year later I was repeatedly asked to send proof of entitlement, despite repeatedly pointing out I had not got any younger in the meantime. I think I was arguing with an algorithm, and only avoided cancellation after the involvement of human beings, including the excellent David and Daniel. Also wish to add a shout out for Drew and colleagues at the Wantage centre, always friendly, helpful and welcoming. Go on then, I'll change that four to a five.

Excellent facilities at good price. Not sure what more expensive gyms offer which isn't available at Better Newbury. Huge selection of equipment which is never busy and 6-7 classes a day. Also the people who run the classes are fantastic, they push you todo the best for you in a friendly and non-scary way 😁

The building is very clean, I can see the staff do genuinely care about satisfying customers and they are so lovely. Best leisure I've been to.

The customer service team are very rude specially the usual duty manager I believe he’s name is Shane.
Shane always comes across as aggressive behaviour towards customers specially women.
I have witnessed him shouting at customer, he was not helpful at all he was pointing finger at the customer it was shameful to witness this.
I hope he will be changed as maneger because his not fit for purpose at all.
Regards

Better offer a wide range of fitness classes and facilities throughout the day and the week. The booking system is easy and I really appreciate the waiting list if a classes is fully booked. The trainers are friendly, fun and helpful. As someone who is new to keeping fit I have felt very encouraged.

I came for my first swimming lesson have never been to this gym before. I arrived early, but our reception there was a long line and I was surprised the person didn’t call for help, Given two people at the front, he wasn’t able to help immediately, which meant the rest of us had to wait. Once it was my turn, I explained I was here for my first swimming class And I was told to go through the gates and turn right. Which I did, I opened the doors and was met by a man changing. I also encounter the cleaner who told me to exit because I was wearing my shoes and I was surprised because the receptionist had directed me here saying the women’s changing rooms would be here and weren’t. The cleaner who barely spoken in English Was having difficulty explaining to me what I was doing wrong so started pointing and moving her hands around I assumed it was my shoes. I made gestures to say I was here for swimming and I needed a locker to which she took me to some lockers, but I wasn’t aware that you needed a £1 coin to use the lockers. I’ll go back to reception to explain that I wasn’t aware that I had to have a £1 locker. I’ll go to virgin active And the wristband you use to enter the gym is what you use for the lockers so assumed it will be the same here But also brought my own padlock, but again couldn’t use any of these. It’s just very frustrating that this was a mentioned at reception or when I signed up and you sent me information saying that there’s lockers available but fail to mention the most important part £1 is needed to use the locker. We live in a cashless society. However, I’m extremely disappointed that as a first time the way you’re changing rooms operate wasn’t explained. When I said to reception, there’s a man there changing one of the members said oh he shouldn’t be there But there’s no signs doors or anything that indicates that this is a man’s changing room or if it’s a waiting area is just people dressing themselves. It’s actually quite distressful given that all the receptionist to direct me to the women’s changing rooms and the very first person I saw was a man changing, no the man was not nude But he was not fully dressed either. I’ve been to many gyms and I’ve never arrived to gym explained that it’s my first time there and no one’s offered to at least show me around. As mentioned above the receptionist when I arrived had a long line of people to the front he was struggling to help but he never asked for help from the staff members. There’s two desks if he had asked for someone else to help the lines would’ve moved quicker. But perhaps the second person would’ve understood that being my first time, I would not know where anything is. It was just a disappointing experience, very unorganised. Also, luckily, a random member of reception had a Coin to lend to me so I could use the lockers. If she wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have been able to use the lockers and I would’ve missed my first swim lessons because again at the desk the staff member said he had no way for me to access the lockers. No spare coins nothing you could do for me. But it’s very frustrating because if you have lockers, but your lockers will only work with a coin of some type then it is paramount that you make this known
