I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at Enfield

I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at the Enfield branch. Paid for a car to be delivered to the Enfield site from another branch & booked a test drive at the weekend. My partner was also interested in purchasing a car at the same time. Changed the test drive to earlier in the week as I had availability. Decided I wanted to go ahead with the purchase of the car, but as soon as I refused their finance, warranty and extra's the sales person became disinterested and very pushy. I politely stood my ground and declined. He tried to negotiate further "what would make you buy these offers?" This type of coersive sales pitch does not align with their "haggle free" promise!
I also requested that a stone chip on the drivers side of the windscreen the six of a 1p coin was repaired before collection - this was declined. Collection was then discussed and due to work commitments I could only collect 3 days later (which happened to be the start of a new month) - I was told "we don't do roll overs into a new month". It shouldn't have mattered when I collected the car, I hadn't wanted to purchase it under any offers or with any additional benefits. They lost out on the sale of two cars because I couldn't collect them the next day and close their deal for the end of the month! This just proves to me that the sales team are only interested in their commission.
The service was nothing short of appalling, the sales person was aggressively pushy - pressurising me into unnecessary add -ons. I strongly urge others to steer clear.

Great Car, poor service. You’re a transaction number, not a person.

Found a great car at a fair price at the Enfield warehouse. However, when I went to view and purchase, that’s when it went downhill. I’d reserved the car online and when we arrived to view, we had to wait 20mins while the sales person went to find it amongst 900 cars and then took it for a wash. We were then led into the warehouse to view it and were rushed round it, loaded into it, and driven immediately off site for the test drive. I swapped with the salesperson into the drivers seat outside at the roadside and then proceeded to test drive the car. The test drive was about 4mins long and that includes waiting for a green traffic light filter. 4 turns and a roundabout. Barely a chance to test the high gears, cruise control and air conditioning!
We then swapped seats again at the gates and were driven back inside. Whereupon we were shown to a sales suite, at the opposite end of the warehouse to the reception. The salesperson, prior to walking us into the suite, guided us round separate marketing stalls for paint protection, alloy wheel protection, window protection and seat protection. We spent more time looking at protective products than the actual car!
Once finally seated in the sales suite “to discuss numbers” we were then pitched 3 various duration warranties. We turned down the protection products and the warranties (could get better elsewhere). I mentioned about a tiny chip in a door, whether it could be touched up before pick up. The salesperson wasn’t interested and said “sold as seen, we don’t amended paintwork once it hits the sales floor. We can’t do that. There is no movement on price, unless we discuss the warranty price.”
With a max deduction of £100 to the warranty price provided to us, we then politely declined again. The salesperson then became completely disinterested with us and our purchase -handing us off to his manager. The manager then tried to re-sell the warranties to us, we politely declined again and thus he passed us off to the finance department to finalise the purchase. We paid for the car outright so didn’t need financing, but the financing advisor completed the transaction with us anyway, as it was very apparent that the sales team were no longer interested as we weren’t buying any extras. The finance advisor then left us and we sat there on our own for 10mins. The salesperson then came over to say we could go. Didn’t shake both our hands and we then had to show ourselves out. -walking back across the warehouse on our own and not even acknowledged as we walked out of reception. Considering we’d just bought £20K+ worth of car, the customer service was nonexistent. We felt like a number to a big machine and not people. We left completely Deflated, upset and shocked. This is not how you should feel after you buy a new car. I needed to make a lengthy train journey to collect the car and the option of moving the car to another site closer to me was not offered. I enquired about this possibility and was met with a £130 charge if this is what I wanted. So, I got the train. I wasn’t offered to be collected from the station, so walked 30mins across town too. Fortunately, Once I arrived, the collection was straightforward and I was on the road home within 40mins. Not without being asked about the warranty options once more of course by the collection agent!

The car is great and so far no issues with it, so can’t fault the car. Luckily, it was almost brand new and low mileage, so I wasn’t worried about the length of test drive or any faults.
The cars may be good and fair priced here, Just don’t expect any personal customer service. Expect to be a transaction number and be prepared to be kicked to the kerb if you don’t buy the extras. If they can’t milk you for commission, they don’t want to know you. They will not go “the extra mile” for your custom like a family run business dealership would do and they don’t seem to value your custom to the same extent either. They have 900 cars at Enfield, what’s your sale to them if they have 899 more to sell?

Had an absolutely terrible experience…

Had an absolutely terrible experience with the Enfield branch! The one star is only acceptable because the "booking" a test online was easy and the sales person that was finally sent to serve me was very understanding otherwise if I could give zero I would!

I had a test drive booked for 19.00, arrived just shy of 10 minutes early (we drove an hour to get there). Upon arrival the greeting was far from satisfactory, if I didn't know any better I'd think the receptionist didn't want to be there! Simply told us that there would be a delay and to take a seat anywhere. A small but I feel it's important to mention detail that every single other customer that was waiting had been offered a drink within minutes of arrival and it seemed as though we'd been forgotten about.
After around 20 minutes my partner asked if there was a rough time we were likely to be seen to and if we could get a drink of water whilst we waited, the receptionist reluctantly looked up from her mobile and made a glass of water. We were told that although there's a booking system they actually operate on a first come, first served basis.. this was incredibly annoying, I'm 33 weeks pregnant and scheduled this specifically for a quieter working day and at a time that meant we wouldn't have a horrible 2 hour round trip to make and hoped that it would be a plain sailing appointment.
Finally after 50 minutes of waiting around we were finally greeted by one of the sales advisors, who in all fairness was actually quite pleasant and surprisingly understanding about my frustration. He explained that there's usually 20 sales people but for whatever reason there was only 10 on this day so they were struggling. Now I completely understand that there's things happen but I think the decent thing to do in these situations is to give customers the heads up so they know there's likely to be a long wait or give them the option to book a different day!
I wonder if I'd have had an appointment at 20.00 and then a 50 minute wait, would I have even been seen before closing time at 21.00? I suspect not.

So for the test drive, I was called the day before and told to bring my driving license with me of course, what they failed to mention was that for the DVLA form I would also need my NI number which I don't know off the top of my head which caused yet another problem because the service was bad and it took me a while to log onto my HMRC app to gain access to it. If they'd have mentioned it on the phone I could have brought a document along or made a note of it somewhere.

The sales person then went off to "get the car out" which took a further 10 minutes and honestly by this point I'd already made my mind up that I wouldn't be spending my hard earned money here! Why wasn't the car ready? They knew which car I had paid to reserve and planned to test drive!

All in all a terrible experience and one that I don't wish to repeat! Such a shame as I went fully anticipating purchasing a car outright that evening.

The service, the "booking" system, the reception team all need a serious look at because the current operations is a shambles! Short staffed or not, most of the issues could have been avoided with a simple bit of communication from company to customer

Calculated financial traps

Calculated financial traps: Hidden fees and refusal to honour consumer law

Here’s my experience, Sista’s who are buying their car, these are specific procedural issues I had at this dealership. While the vehicle is satisfactory, the administrative process is non-transparent:

* Undisclosed Fees: A £300 "supplementary/admin/buyers fee" charge was added at the final stage. This was not disclosed during negotiations; it is not in the contract; it is an addition.
* Pricing Discrepancies: I was verbally quoted £120 for graphene protection, but the contract charge was £649. When I questioned this before signing, I was told it was "too late" to amend and was pressured to proceed.
* Missing Documentation: Despite the sale being complete, I am still waiting for the "200-point check" paperwork. This document is a key part of the sale’s value proposition, yet it has not been delivered.
* Signing Process: Negotiations involve paper documents that customers cannot keep or photograph. The final signing is done on an iPad while standing, which limits the customer's ability to verify line items and charges.
* Consumer Rights: Prospective customers should note that this dealership does not honour the 14-day cooling-off period for disputes regarding mis-selling or fee discrepancies. They only acknowledge returns for mechanical faults. Even if you raise a formal complaint within 24 hours of the sale, the policy is to deny the return and maintain the contract.
* Management and Finance Style: Management is apologetic and polite, but these apologies do not result in a resolution. The "kindness" appears to be a tactic to de-escalate the customer without addressing the contractual delivery failures.
* Finance Support: Black Horse (the finance provider) did not intervene in the dispute regarding the dealership's sales tactics or hidden charges.

Summary: The vehicle's mechanical quality and warranty are satisfactory. However, the sales process relies on verbal agreements that are not honoured in the final digital contract. I advise all buyers to bring a physical notebook, record every verbal quote, and refuse to sign the iPad until all figures are reconciled. Do not leave the premises until you have the physical 200-point check report in your hand. Do not rely on verbal promises, "polite" assurances, or apologies that imply they did all they could, as these are not honoured post-sale.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and expressing your dissatisfaction with the service you've received from Big Motoring World. We apologise for any inconvenience or frustration caused by the issues you've encountered with our Enfield branch.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the variable administration fee. There is a compulsory variable administration fee charged when any car is purchased. This charge covers administrative and documentation costs relating to that specific vehicle, and this information is provided on our website for every car.

We also apologise for the process and service during your purchase. This is not the kind of experience we want our customers to have, and we'll be sure to review our procedures to make improvements where necessary.

Once again, I do apologise for the frustration and disappointment that may have been caused.

We should have read the reviews before we purchased...

Please read the bad reviews and take note - we wasted 4 hours on our first visit, and 5.5 hours on our second visit. We still did purchase the vehicle (hence the two stars and not 1) but the whole experience was AWFUL.

We had a very disappointing and concerning experience with Big Motoring World Enfield.
We initially visited to test drive a car and ended up placing a £500 deposit on a vehicle late in the evening. The process felt rushed, and we were asked to sign documents twice without anything being properly explained or given time to review.
When we got home, we discovered the contract stated we had been informed about a recall on the vehicle — this was never mentioned to us. Had we known, we would not have placed the deposit. This felt like a serious lack of transparency.
We returned a few days later and, after speaking to a manager, chose a different vehicle. However, the issues didn’t stop there. The car was advertised online with a value of £36,106, but when we came to collect it, we were told it actually exceeded £40,000 and was subject to luxury car tax. This directly contradicted the listing and influenced our decision to buy.
After a long discussion, we were offered £300 goodwill and a refund on the warranty, but only after pushing the issue.
Overall, this experience involved poor communication, being rushed into signing documents, and misleading information on both vehicles we considered. I would strongly advise others to thoroughly check all paperwork and not feel pressured during the process.

Hi Mr Yatin Raikundalia,

We are sorry about your disappointment with the condition of your vehicle. We do repair any small imperfections that we can at our prep centre before our vehicles are introduced to our forecourts. Unfortunately, not all scratches and dents can be repaired.

However, I can see that our After-Sales team has received your complaint regarding this. They are the appropriate department to review this and advise. I would advise sending the images highlighting the issues raised in a PDF format so that they can review this further.

My name is Hasan

My name is Hasan . Around 5 months ago, I visited Big Motoring World - Enfield to purchase a car. At first, everything seemed very positive. They offered tea and coffee, and during the sales process, they make you feel comfortable and valued.

However, things changed completely after I purchased the car. I bought a Mercedes-Benz E-Class and, trusting the company, I also purchased their 3-month warranty along with an extended warranty.

After 4 months, a serious issue appeared. I later found out that both the front and rear brake discs were worn out and close to their limit, which is a major safety concern.

I contacted the company immediately. They guided me through some steps and directed me to certain garages, but those garages were giving appointments 2–3 weeks later just for inspection. Even after explaining that this was urgent and related to the braking system, no quick solution was provided.

I was left going back and forth between Big Motoring World - Enfield and the garages, with no one taking responsibility. I am currently forced to use the car in an unsafe condition.

When I spoke to the branch manager, I was told, “there is nothing we can do.”

I deeply regret buying a car and warranty from Big Motoring World - Enfield. I would not recommend them to anyone, and I will never purchase a car from them again.
