Blacks - Newbury Reviews 

I visited the Blacks on Northbrook Street (Newbury) today, with a view for only getting shorts but with how relaxed and helpful the staff were (especially Ann). I managed to find other much needed items in store. Splendid customer service 10/10. I would most definitely visit again and would highly recommend this store (something for everyone in my opinion).

Super helpful staff, friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. I went in to the store with my son looking for a few things for his first cubs camp. They were really helpful and took the time to teach my son and involve him in the process so he felt confident and very excited!

I spoke on the phone to Jack F from the Bracknell store who suggested I came into Newbury to try on some hiking bags. When I got there, Jack H was a fantastic help at fitting the bags and helping me choose the right one for me. I had a very pleasant experience and am very grateful for the help!

Went in on spur of moment to look at walking boots as have achilles problems atm. Explained issue to Michael, who was very helpful and showed me a lightweight boot that fitted perfectly. Whole transaction only took 5 minutes as was over carpark time.

I came in with sore feet from a string of 13hr shifts and arrived in store in a lunch break, sat down on the floor looking for insoles looking like a mess I am sure.

I was not only greeted on my way into store but team member: Zak came and sat with me to make me feel more comfortable and inform me about the selection available to me, it was from his advice that I made my purchase and left with a new step in my stride ;D

Middle of summer, 30deg and I wanted some light weight wind proof gloves. Must be touch screen compatible!
I know right, chances of them being on display is zero!
Staff were very helpful and chatty and went upstairs and rooted through their stores to find me a pair of XL Trekmates Rigg gloves!
Perfect for what i need and fit lovely
Can't fault the team for going out of their way to sort me out for an item that 100% out of season

We were in Newbury for the day and had tried various shops looking for a small camping table. I asked a member of staff, Michael, for some help. He went above and beyond to get what we needed and also answered a number of my queries. I ended up buying a few other items suggested by him ( not pushy just relevant to what I had asked) customer service is vital for any business and Michael has it bucket loads. Well Done Michael.

Alex fitted me with a new rucksack. I wore it for 10 miles without any pain to my shoulders - so thank you for making my walking holiday a more pleasant experience

Will was exceptionally helpful when I came browsing for some new hiking boots. He was polite, friendly, and knowledgable about my possible options that were in stock. I ended up leaving with a pair of reliable Meindl boots. Very happy with the excellent service from all staff. Accepts NHS discount.

I went in looking for trousers and walking shoes, and Michael looked after me. He opened the fitting room, he was able to recommend shoes to meet my requirements and was honest about his appraisal of each of the options. He was polite, helpful and knowledgable. I bought far more than I had planned to!

Purchased a pair of walking boots today, the assistant Jack was a great help, really listened and heard what I wanted to purchase and suggested different options and found exactly what I required.

We were served by Ann who gave us a very good service and was particularly knowledgeable and helpful in selecting a new pair of walking shoes.

After purchasing a lovely Peter Storm jacket and rucksack.. the assistant Ann helped me put on my jacket packed all my other bits in my rucksack. Even adjusted the straps on the rucksack and tightened the sleeves on my jacket for this i was truly grateful..you see I'm on crutches as disabled so I appreciate any help.. but as I was walking out the shop the heavens opened so she put up my hood 😁😁 Thanks Ann

Ann was so helpful, I went in blind and didn’t really know what I was buying as it was for my work place, she took me to the item and explained everything to me, she really was very helpful

Alex was knowledgeable, professional helpful and patient. Gave us space to consider our options and did not “oversell”.

I went to get kit for my Gold DofE expeditions and Ann was incredibly helpful with advice on what walking boots would be best, and how to care for them, and went out of her way to with my walking trousers & over-trousers selection. She made sure to explain the why behind her advice, eg enamel rather than a plastic plate because it would be less likely to split. She also didn’t try to steer me towards the most expensive items for the sake of it so her advice felt more trustworthy.

Michael was very helpful and directed me to the best place for the item I was looking for. He allowed me the space to browse and choose without hassling me and then we completed the transaction shortly thereafter. Nice guy, v polite and helpful. Cheers Michael.

Micheal was very helpful in recommending walking shoes to try and was patient while we tried on several pairs until we found just what we needed!
