Most of the books are well-priced but…

Most of the books are well-priced but the amount of time it takes them to dispatch and deliver to the UK is ridiculous considering we're in the 21st century and the fact they're owned by Amazon

I never got my book......USPS gave…

I never got my book......USPS gave notification that it was delivered but nowhere to be found. I've contacted USPS to investigate but nothing has happened. Not sure who dropped the ball but highly disappointed.....

No good for Tenerife

Ive been trying to send books to Tenerife, both now and before Christmas and the order keeps being rejected for "technical issues". Despite contacting Book Depository about this several times, I am just told to try again and make sure all card details are correct. I've tried umpteen times, and it doesn;t work. Spent ages choosing and ordering suitable books for grandchildren abroad, inputting all relevant details and end up with the same message. Frustrating and time wasting. I give up with them.

Nothing but Positive Expereices with Book Depository

First of all, I really appreciate that I am able to order books that haven't yet been released in the US. The process is easy, efficient and cost effective.
On two different occasions I inadvertently ordered two copies of the same book. The customer service department graciously fixed the problem quickly. The customer service reps were friendly and polite and made the experience especially positive. I sing the praises of Book Depository every chance I get!

Fast delivery...very happy

I have ordered from Book Depository in the past and never had any issues. This time, books arrived 2 weeks earlier than expected! I did not get a notification for tracking but very happy with the surprise of receiving them so early. Great new books at a great price and free shipping.

I ordered a book

I ordered a book ; FIRST CLASS by David CRAIG months ago. I never got the book. When I asked what happened, they said they ran out of the book and couldn't find any more. They hadn't returned my money. Had I not written, I wouldn't have gotten a refund which I am still waiting for.

Mixed Feelings

I have mixed feelings. Customer service is nice, but it's based on templates so any question that you ask that cannot be answered by using a template usually goes under the radar completely. I'm still waiting for part of my order that never arrived and was supposedly re-sent in September (it's middle of February). Not sure whose fault is this, but shipping to Poland is nightmare. If I knew that it would look like that I'd order slighlty more expensive copy from another bookstore, but I would have it by now.

Beware of import tax

Beware - even though Bookdepository clearly states that all taxes are paid for, they don’t include the mandatory IOSS- number when sending the parcels, and therefore I have to pay 160 DKK to the Danish customs to get my package. Ridiculous - I could have bought the same book way cheaper here in Denmark now.
Don’t write that taxes are included if it isn’t true!

In my case, everything went well

I empathize with people who have had difficulties with Book Depository, but I must say that my experience with them was nothing but positive. I live in Ukraine, and even though Book Depository doesn't do direct deliveries to Ukraine at this time (due to the war that's been going on here, I presume, which is understandable), I was able to get my order through the services of a delivery company, which picked it up from a warehouse in the UK and delivered it to me in Ukraine. And even though Book Depository doesn't provide you with a typical tracking number, which is certainly an inconvenience, they were able to give the Shipping ID of the parcel (which required contacting the customer service, as it wasn't emailed to me automatically, but that's ok, the Book Depository Team responded to my request almost immediately). This Shipping ID sufficed for the delivery company whose services I was using, and I was able to get my order delivered to me in no time. Both books that I ordered arrived in perfect condition, so there is absolutely nothing I could possibly complain about, and can only be thankful for the services provided by Book Depository. Having said that, it's certainly disconcerting to see so many horrifyingly negative reviews, the sheer number of which tells me that there's probably something to it, and that maybe I just got lucky. But be whatever it may, all I can say to anyone reading this is that you should think for yourself, whether to order from this seller. The lack of a common tracking number can certainly pose problems, and has to be taken into account. The times of delivery are quite loose, too, from what I can see. My order arrived slightly past the timeframe that was set, but due to the complicated circumstances of my particular delivery time was not an issue I was concerned with, in other words I was willing to wait, as long as my order arrived. And it did. Thank you, Book Depository!

PREORDER IS A SCAM

I can see from the comments below lots of people have had issues preordering. I pre-ordered a book in May of last year. I emailed when I got a notification that the book was in stock to check when it would be shipped. I was told that there was limited stock and that preorders were getting prioritised in the order they arrived in. Fine. I checked the site daily for 2 weeks and every day the book was available. It still is. But then I received an email from book depository saying my order was being refunded. I checked the site and the book is still available. So I email and I get a load of rubbish about how the original supplier couldn't supply the book and so all preorders were cancelled. Never mind the book has been and is still in stock. What does it matter to me if their supplier has changed? Still had my money for over half a year! I pointed out that I now would have to pay more to buy the book than when I pre-ordered it. No reply. DO NOT PRE ORDER FROM THIS SITE. This is not even the first time they have done this to me!

Update 13/2: The automated response below is not correct. Nobody has been in touch since I posted.

Loosy and scam-minded

I pre-ordered a book. The company did not order enough of this book, so instead of warning me that it might take longer, or offer a refund, they never updated me.
After 2 months I had to send an email to the support for them to issue a refund (i had only gotten a spontaneous partial refund from their side with no explanation) saying that they couldn't supply the book - which still is shown as available on the website! So basically, if you forget about the book, or assume that the person you sent it to received it, you'll never see your money back. It's just a scam at this point. Good think the support at least is efficient when you get in touch with them. Just order from someplace else.

Update: After 2 weeks of back and forth, and a lot of insistance from my side, a lot of explaining, aside with a a threat to contest the transaction with my bank, I managed to get the missing 49 kr. The customer service is responsive but one of the employees kept insisting that I should order again to get my money back - no way. I will not try to order from them again.

A very good experience

Excelent service. Great price. High standard quality.
First I had a little bit doubt, but all had been vanished, when yesterday received my package in time and the ordered 3 books arrived without any damage. I ordered on 21 January and the package had been dispatched on 25 January from the UK and arrived the local post office in Hungary on 6 February. The expected delivery was between 2–9 February. So yes, I definitely recommend Book Depostitory for any one. Also I planning to order again in the near future from them.

Can’t trust them

I pre ordered a book 3 months ago, received confirmation it was on its way just to get an email a day later saying the order was canceled and found out book depository canceled it and said it was not available but the customer service team who was unhelpful admitted that they ‘made a pricing error’ which wasn’t obvious as it wasn’t extremely cheap and they have now listed the SAME book for way more and told me to go buy that one.

I expect as a customer to receive the order I made at the price I paid for it. They still haven’t even refunded me or anything.

Update: 7/2/23 - they still have not paid me my money back and instead I received an email saying they can't help me...extremely disappointing
