I ordered and paid for some ten books from book depository. The books were sent to the wrong address. Book depository claims a refund was sent to PayPal but I paid with visa so I never received any refund. We are talking here of about 10,000 baht (40 baht equals one pound). They bother me with a loop of contradictory emails which I cannot answer as it’s impossible to write above their marked line. The number I provide as proof is only one of several I have s d they have as well. I wasted a lot of time on this to no avail. I don’t have a phone to get a human who can discuss this and sort the problem.

Bought a brand new book called "Ape Piaggio: 70 anni/ 70 years" via Amazon. Half written in Italian and the other half in English. Well illustrated and informative. Keenly priced at Book depository. Have ordered and bought several books through the years without too much fuss. Order took a while to be processed and dispatched but within estimated time. Received in a well packaged cardboard folder. There was no dents or creases on arrival, as it should be.
Very pleased with my purchase.

They have a large selection of books for good prices. I had a problem with the fact my country put import taxes and other charges on my package despite the fact Bookdepository was supposed to have all those covered. I contacted them and received a response within a day. I got all the fees I was charged in my homecountry refunded by them despite the fact it was in total as much as the price of the book I purchased with bookdepository.
Very efficient, nice and helpful customer service:)

I’ve ordered a paperback version of a book for children, expecting a normal size book, but I received a 8x8cm mini book, the type you get for free as samples. I was told by their customer representative that it was my fault by not reading small print.
Additionally I was charged almost $10, but the book in fact cost $2.49 with free shipping.
I asked for refund and was told I would need to ship it back first at my own expense!
It wasn’t just the product I’m completely shocked by or their customer service. It was the fact they charged me FOUR TIMES the actual cost.

Above and beyond customer service! Due to an unfortunate timing on my behalf, only 12 days before Christmas, I was panicshopping at Book Depository. Only one of my four items was a Christmas gift, but of course it did not arrive on time. Since I was a late Christmas shopper and none of the four items were received at 4 of January, I complained. They all answered fast, and very politely excused the postalproblems, I mailed with three different customer service people over the next week. Although it was not they're fault, the snow and extremely bad weather in my country probably delayed all post, they sent out every item again, no questions asked.
Thank you so much for fantastic service, and also great books and original gifts to shop for in abundance.

After many years of being a customer with BD, I've found them to be mostly reliable, although books usually come late, especially pre-orders. My recent experience was a pre-order, that they had not sent after 4 months, and they gave contradictory emails when I contacted support. They first said it was delayed, then said they wouldn't be able to source it, before going back to their copy-pasted "its been delayed" email. I emailed them 17 TIMES, and the majority of their responses were copy-pasted or apathetic and low-effort responses that NEVER answered my questions. It is clear they don't care at all about their customers, troubleshooting issues, or retaining their long-time clients. If they respond to this it will no doubt be another copy-pasted response with no meaningful follow-up. I will not be using them again.
Edit: Surprise, surprise, a copy-pasted response without promise of a follow-up. They definitely don't care at all.

Ordered the same item twice on separate orders...received the incorrect items...I have been experiencing the worst customer service in my life...they will not let me know if they have sent the correct item on the second order, supposedly the first order has been sent...yet to receive it...
Now they are emailing me to say that I received the correct item when they were advertising a beautiful tin with my tarot cards...and want me to send the incorrect item back at my expense for a refund...what cheek...

I preordered a book in march 2022 and was waiting for it to arrive since there has been no problem with my other preorders before. But the other day while I was checking my orders I saw one of the books was canceled and refunded in the order history tab (which I never care to check normally). When I asked them about it they said the provider didn’t send them. Then I replied that it can happen but they didn’t inform me through mail so it’s partly their fault. I preordered these books because dollar value is increasing rapidly in my country so it became double the price now. So I wanted a ten dollar discount but it turns out it was a compensation calculated using the 10% of the old price which is like nothing. I want at least ten dollar discount and it’s like they’re making fun of me. It could be a problem of UX design of your website or your lack of notifications. I don’t care. Still it’s your fault.

Its 25 of January. I requested a refund and they dont reply.
Instead they send me an automated mail asking if I liked the book that I received (which I never received)

Claims to be IOSS store and pay all duties to the EU. However, package gets stopped at customs due to missing information. Despite multiple requests, Book Depository refuses to give their IOSS number. Customs will not release the package without it. It's not like it's a secret. Total BS.

I ordered an Aula Internacional book for my Spanish lessons. On Amazon it was not obviously mentioned that the book is fulfilled by Bookdepository ca. time range was given Jan 17-25. My classes start Jan 23. I asked book depository to give tracking. The response was that there is no tracking and that the book will be delivered by Feb 8th. I asked how it is since the latest date was Jan 25th on my order receipt, but they just ignored my request saying that if I don’t receive by Feb 13, it may be lost. Are you kidding? Do you know anything about customer service. Reported seller to Amazon, and waiting for response.

Made a couple of orders, all arrived IN TIMELY MANNER, just as described. All out of all orders arrived one by one.
I was a bit anxious about ordering at first when I saw the mixed reviews, but I did and it all went better than well. If you're reading this, and are unsure about ordering, you should give it a try and order 1 book.

They want to scam me again, they canceled a book I bought in pre-sale again. I received an email letting me know that the book was already available and that I was going to receive it. In less than 24 hours I received another email saying that they canceled my purchase. Now the book costs me 60% more. These are books that I had already bought months ago, if I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn't buy anything from them. They are scammers and on top of that, support answers you badly, without caring about anything.
