Valuation?? They can't be bothered!

Booked in a valuation with Bridgfords. They called the following morning at 830 which was very efficient. Was advised over the phone that this would take 30 minutes. Had a phone call from the Sale branch on the morning of the appointment. Asked if i intended to put my house up for sale, said it would be dependent on the equity we have in the house. He said the valuation would take and hour and a half and he could send a virtual valuation. It sounded like the guy couldn't be bothered at all. If this is the level of experience you get from someone that is trying to get your business, I would hate to think about the experience you would have selling through this place. Really poor service!

Brand New Listing on a New-built House

Excellent communication throughout – clear, responsive, and very approachable. The team kept me well informed, including regular updates for tenants.
What really stood out was their professionalism and proactive approach. Any issues with the brand‑new house were escalated to the developer under the warranty without me even having to ask, which gave me real peace of mind.
Special thanks to Sophie for efficiently organising the white goods, and Helen for proactively raising and managing warranty matters. A genuinely positive and supportive experience.

The reason I gave 4 stars is that it has only just started, we will see once all is up and running, and tenancies are completed.

Avoid these cowboys at all costs.

I’ve never dealt with a worse estate agent. Moving from Cornwall to York, I trusted them not to take advantage of me, given that I couldn’t see the property in person before renting it. What I was greeted by was scarcely believable. They routinely ignored me when I asked to have things fixed, and lied to me when I asked them to contact the landlord, stating they had contacted them when they hadn’t. Use Ashtons instead. They were exemplary when I used them instead. My old landlord has even left Bridgfords to take his business to Ashtons as well. Pathetic, shameless company. Avoid.

Landlords (and tenants!) - avoid this agent

To use a phrase, Bridgfords / Countrywide are an omnishambles, when it comes to being a landlord's agent.

Landlords - Do yourselves and your tenants a favour and choose a different agent.

You will end up doing just as much work managing Bridgfords (actually Countrywide) as you would managing any issues directly yourself.

Two particular incidents that wound me up were when they charged us for work done by a decorator, which the decorator later admitted was never carried out; and secondly after forgetting to charge a tenant for costs due to them, they charged us instead, after deposit refund - without agreement or notice (money they still refuse to refund).

Got bored of chasing them

Called multiple times to try and get a viewing booked in. Was told multiple times someone would call me back. Got bored of chasing them.

They seemed far more interested in getting me to speak to their mortgage broker, and I hadn’t even viewed any houses with them yet!

I have no idea how they manage to sell any houses. Quite clearly a load of sales people trying to hit targets and not actually that bothered about selling houses.

Had to call numerous times over two…

Had to call numerous times over two days before someone answered, waited a week for the viewing to be called two two hours before for confirmation I was attending, then one hour before they call again and cancel because someones car broke down. Absolute pants.

Glad I wasn’t the seller

Tried to book a viewing of a property that had been on the market for almost a year. Had to call twice before I got a response. They couldn’t offer anything sooner than a week after my call. No wonder the house hadn’t sold.

I recently moved into Brigford property…

I recently moved into Brigford property and I can't express how grateful I am for the fantastic support from Lucy and Murray. From the moment I began the application process, they were incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs. Lucy guided me through all the paperwork with clarity and patience, ensuring I understood everything. On move-in day, Murray went above and beyond to assist me – he helped with any questions I had and made sure everything was in order. To top it all off, I received a delightful box of chocolates as a sweet welcome gift, which added such a nice touch! Their friendly demeanor and professionalism truly made my transition seamless. I highly recommend Brigford to anyone looking for a welcoming place home.

Well what I can say! SHOCKING SERVICE.

Well what I can say!! After 7 years we have had enough and made the decision to move after countless problems. I am now having to move away from the area I grew up in and also I have to let my pet dog go after all the problems and YES BRIDGFORDS YOU ARE TO BLAME!!!! When we moved into the property it was just about habitable, it should not of been presented in the way it was but we were desperate. Over the years we improved the property ourselves and made it a nice home and we genuinely felt at home. Problems included heating pump problems, shower problems, we were left without a gas hob for 6 weeks, had to live practically off ready meals. Roof leaks, boiler problems which take weeks or even months to resolve. The penultimate decision to move was made when we were left without heating over the Christmas period, the house ended up like an ice box to the extreme causing massive distress to us and our young children, but they just don't care, waiting days and days for quotes to be accepted. Money comes before Health and Safety with these guys and to top it off we are being harassed to arrange viewings for new tenants, absolute joke. Unlucky for them is that I know property law, probably better than them and I have the right to refuse access to them until tenancy agreement ends. No one from the agency has ever been out to inspect the property in 7 years but they are willing to show people around, for they all know the property could be trashed. Absolutely unprofessional, some staff should be nowhere near the business of real estate. I think they think that payment of rent is just for the property, its not you pay rent for a service to which you do not get! DO NOT RENT A PROPERTY FROM BRIDGFORDS. Its just a shame it has come to this but they are to BLAME FOR IT ALL!! SIMPLE. GOOD LUCK TO WHOEVER MOVES IN!!

Very disappointing experience with Bridgeford (Cheadle Hulme)

We had a very disappointing experience with Bridgeford while trying to rent a property in Cheadle Hulme.
From the beginning, we were open and honest about everything, including that we have an outdoor cat. We were told by the agency that this would not be a problem, so we proceeded in good faith and completed all the required steps, including signing the tenancy agreement.
Before the keys were due to be handed over, my husband asked for written confirmation regarding the cat, which had already been discussed. At that stage, the landlord refused to agree, and the Bridgeford manager in Cheadle Hulme was also unwilling to resolve the issue or honour what had previously been communicated to us. This was despite us being transparent from the very start.
What was most concerning was that although we had a signed agreement and were due to receive the keys on 30 January, the property was re-listed for rent the day before. This caused us significant stress and raised serious concerns about professionalism and reliability.
We also had concerns about the tenancy contract. In our view, some clauses did not appear appropriate for a standard rental agreement, and we strongly advise future tenants to carefully review the contract and seek independent legal advice before signing.
Overall, this was a very poor experience, and we would encourage others to be cautious when dealing with Bridgeford in Cheadle Hulme, particularly regarding verbal assurances and contract terms.
