Branch staff good, conveyancing beyond horrendous
Started the journey of selling my flat with Bridgfords well, great listing, quickly found a buyer, then Bridgfords conveyancing service took over and was incompetent at every turn. 6 months on from accepting an offer I’ve had to end the sale as my mental health couldn’t handle anymore of the misleading, lies and gaslighting from their conveyancers. Was so bad even the branch staff said they were embarrassed at how bad it was.

We used the washington branch in the North east to sell our home. Bridgfords recommended a solicitor from their panel to the guy that was buying the property which are based in Lincoln which is where the issue starts. The solicitors that they recommended are really not good and should also be avoided. The issue is that the solicitors that they have recommended is a large firm with many people looking at the file and to date at least 5 people have been involved with that file all asking questions that have been previously answered on a number of occasions from our solicitor. This is a solicitor that is on their panel, I am not sure if they get a financial kickback from the solicitors but recommending a poor solicitors sited in the middle of the country would suggest that they do, rather than working with a local solicitor which would make much more sense. At first the communication was OK, which dwindled into appalling. You can phone their premises and the phone just does not get answered unless your very fortunate, which impacts both sellers and buyers of a property. I am more than 5 months down the line and the property is still not sold despite it apparently being escalated to the regional manager twice, clearly he or she is hard to contact too.I spoke to the branch manager 4 weeks ago complaining about the situation who promised me a call back, to which I am still waiting for the call. Choose this company at your own peril, they are poor, and if you are lucky that someone can get through to them to put an offer in on your property it will take a long time to get sold due to the solicitors that they recommend.PS if a zero could be scored it would be.
I would not recommend using Bridgfords…
I would not recommend using Bridgfords based on my recent experience.
I booked a viewing for a property I was genuinely interested in purchasing and received multiple calls confirming the appointment. A member of the team, Paul, also mentioned he could show me alternative properties if the one I was viewing was not suitable, which initially gave a very positive impression.
When I arrived at the property, it was in a very dirty and neglected condition and appeared to have been vacant for some time. While this alone was disappointing, the bigger issue was that I was only informed during the viewing that the property was corporate owned. This is important information, as it means the property would not be taken off the market even if an offer was made. Had I known this in advance, I would not have arranged the viewing at all.
After the viewing, I went into the branch to speak with Paul, only to find out he was actually a mortgage adviser rather than someone helping me source additional properties. I was then told not to waste my time with the property and informed that an offer had already been accepted a week earlier, followed by being asked whether I wanted to try and outbid the existing buyer.
Overall, the experience felt disorganised and misleading, with key information either withheld or communicated far too late. As a buyer, this was frustrating and a waste of time. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not choose to deal with Bridgfords again.

Avoid Like The Plague!
If you are looking for a professional, hassle and stress free service from your estate agent then steer well clear of Bridgefords (Culcheth Warrington).
We had the misfortune of allowing this office to both manage the sale of our property and appoint an incompetent conveyancer on our behalf.
The woeful service, legal naivety, constant misinformation, poor communication, mishandling of sensitive information and general dereliction of duties significantly affected our mental well-being!
The list of mistakes, miscommunication, untruths and reneging on the part of this cowboy outfit was endless to the point where time ran out on our buyers mortgage offer. Bridgefords literally brought my partner to her knees and If I could have left a rating of ZERO for this woeful organisation I would have done!
Contractors should avoid at all costs!
Contractors should avoid at all costs!! We fitted a cylinder in a property for this agent, and have received no payment, now three month overdue. They tried to pass us onto the landlord when we’ve worked direct with them. We’ve still heard nothing, despite numerous calls, emails, complaints. We will be forced to get a debt recovery involved. Would not recommend working for them!
Brdigefords Knutsford Cheshire - useless!!!!!
After booking a confirmed valuation appointment with Bridgefords Knutsford for the 24th November 2025 - Karl the manager never turned up to our house - when we called to find out why, he did not have any knowledge of the appointment - we have received a response from the Connells Group ( who own Bridgefords) complaints team who have apologised for the missed appointment/non-existent communication but no recompense for us taking a wasted day off from work.We have subsequently used Savilles Knutsford who have been exceptional - don't waste your time with Bridgefords they are dreadful!

So Unprofessional!
Never have I dealt with such an unprofessional company!
The valuer failed to meet the appointment, I emailed Bridgfords, no apology just an email asking when I would like to rebook!!! Really? Gave the business to a competitor.

Bridgfords destroyed my wall and are refusing to take any accountability.
Bridgfords marketed my property for let, and in doing so caused major damage to my wall. I have exhausted their complaints procedure and they still refuse to conpensate me for the repairs.
Service above and beyond
What can I say about Bridgfords in Bamber Bridge, what an absolutely fabulous team of professionals to deal with especially Jane Catterall! This amazing lady has gone above and beyond for us firstly regarding the sale of my mum's house after she passed away, and now ourselves. Without Jane with her knowledge and wealth of experience our house move would have collapsed, she did everything in her power to get the job done, she went above and beyond, and is also a very understanding and caring individual remaining professional throughout. Couldn't have done this without you! Wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
Avoid like your life depends on it
Great experience viewing and securing the property. As soon as I signed, the problems started.
They did not provide electricity meter readings.
It turned out the property has 2 electric meters which has caused me a ridiculous amount of problems with 2 gas suppliers.
The bathroom floor was soft on arrival, noticeably soft, which turned out to be a slow leak of basically everything in the bathroom. They needed to replace some of the flooring, change the toilet and replace the vinyl. The flooring and toilet change got done after 3 months of chasing - it got to the point where the floor has sunk in the bathroom but I was told it was still habitable. Believe me when I say I am still sat here with no vinyl after 4 months now, with proplex and duct tape on my bathroom floor while they give my number to contractor after contractor (without my permission) for quotes.
The property management team have been the most unhelpful and generally confusing team to deal with because I'm doing a lot of what I'd expect them to do???
Avoid at all costs. The stress of dealing with them has made me consider leaving Manchester altogether and going back home.
Avoid
Had to leave my rented property for work purposes.
Some staff were rude about it! I was charged to remove items that were there BEFORE I moved into the building before getting back the remainder of my deposit. That’s after having to chase them up some time after I moved out despite checks being done the day after I left!
At least I’m getting back most of my deposit. Do not use! Avoid!
Not a great experience
We went to Bridgfords because they got the best reviews on Google. OMG if they are the best, just imagine what the worst would be like. Gave us a very dodgy valuation 30% above what we eventually sold it for.
When I went back to the manager to give him feedback all I got were excuses and he told me if he were to value the property again now he would have come up with the same valuation. Bonkers did not even learn from the sale.
Communicating with them was not easy, ok until we did the deal, thereafter very poor. Didn’t respond to voicemails left, rang us up with inappropriate offers even though they shouldn’t have, nil response to emails.
I guess they are a necessary evil, but I would never go back to them. Would rather nail the for sale sign to my chest and stand in the garden signalling to passers by in the hope of securing a sale.
Approach with caution
Excellent morgage advisor
I had a fantastic experience with Rebecca Kennedy mortgage advisor at Bridgfords in Middlesbrough.
Rebecca was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend Rebecca’s services! Thanks so much for finding me the perfect morgage she gave me lots of advise on life insurance and nothing was ever any trouble. Thank you so much xxx
In 3 months I did not have one…
In 3 months I did not have one proactive call from the Knutsford branch. Indeed when we cancelled the contract they left all the listings up for 2 weeks and only took them down after I chased them
Disgusting behavior from the people in…
Disgusting behavior from the people in this branch. So unprofessional. DO NOT USE THEM.
Can't get through to anyone when you phone. The person you want is always on holiday and NO ONE else can help until they come back. When you phone to speak with them when they are back from holiday, they are not in the office......... at any time! How does that work!
Had a hole in the roof of the house I rented - it took them over 3 months to get it fixed. The gas cooker would not work properly - again not fixed at all.
TRY AND GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK - HUH
I'm off to the ombudsman now as I have no choice.
All of the other bad reviews are correct - I have experienced the same shabby, who give a $hit attitude.
Just don't waste your time
If you want a company of people with minimal care for you and the process, who don't do what they tell you they are going to do, and then when you're trying to find out where things are up to, never answer the phone, Bridgfords are the one.

Seems this company has teamed up with Rise letting agency another awful local Durham agent who also fails to respond to complaints and have zero professionalism.
