My advice - avoid Britannia or you may regret it later

I purchased a Britannia induction 60cm oven. I thought I was buying the best of British. Several months into the warranty period one of the control knobs snapped off and fell into the oven - this was in August 2019. I contacted Britannia who kept assuring me the parts were on their way but it’s been 10 months without an oven now - that includes all of Christmas and all of lockdown. I have tried to get a response but customer support is non-existent. So here I have a lump of stainless steel that I cannot use. I cannot recommend Britannia if this is the kind of after sales support you receive. I am now looking at the prospect of having to cut my losses and accept that I have thrown £1000 down the drain on this terrible company's products. I would not even give one star if it was possible.

Dangerous …

I have had my Britannia induction fleet range for 5 years, this is the second time that the oven seems to be over heating, however this time the induction hob has completely burnt out.

Reading the reviews this seems to be a real problem with these cookers, should their be a call back on them? as I think they are looking quite dangerous.
The engineer came out today with no parts, I paid £260 for a call out charge.

Here we go again with endless phone calls ect

Maybe the ombudsman should look into this.

I had the unfortunate experience of…

I had the unfortunate experience of using them yesterday, they send the grumpiest man in the world, who stated there was a fault with the gas metre valve, and call the gas company to report it, he left saying there was nothing he could do, I waited in 8Hrs for Transco to arrive, when they checked the system and found nothing wrong, and gave a clean bill of health. I called Britannia this morning to tell them and to get my money back and they refused, saying they did a callout so I had to pay.... even thought the engineer didn't do anything except report a non existent fault... I now need to get proof which from Transco, which they are sending.
Their customer services is appalling and the engineer they send didn't know what he was doing - Stay away from them- Just look at their reviews!!!!!

Brittania induction oven back…

Brittania induction oven back potentially woud have set on fire. Having tripped our electrics our 5 year old what was 3,000 oven has completely burnt out at the back its has scorched fire damaged burnt out on all electric components horrendous. I've tried through customer service which is really bad long wait times and no help just say we will send an £180 engineer out plus you'll pay for parts as it's out if its measly 2 year warranty but only 5 years old and fot the ticket price who would expect it to break and have internal componants set alight! It's a complete mess ive sent photos to them and still they think they can repair it! I'm going to speak to trading standards as it's a disgrace to think that this high value product number 1 has 2year warranty only and number 2 has only lasted us just under 5years. It's a health and safety issue and it should be addressed as a recall or a hazard rather than an engineer telling me that it can happen anytime??!! Wow. I've just bought a hoover washing machine less than £400 and its got 10 years warranty yes 10!! I'm going to email GDHA again when must be part of Brittania? To see what response I will receive before I go to social media with photos

Good service after fire

We had a small home fire that destroyed parts of our Britannia Range Cooker. They provided all the parts and repaired it perfectly. One-piece was sent wrongly. The warehouse people kept sending the wrong item. The service department ladies were very persistent especially Jenifer who finally got us the right item. Thank you for your persistence. A job well done.

One blob of perished glue- and I need a new cooker

I have a 12 year old Brittania range cooker. A blob of glue holds one of three layers of heat-resistant glass together on the door of the large oven. This glue has perished, meaning that the door is now wobbly.

I rang Brittania, who say I will need a completely new door fitted. This will cost £1000.

The man I spoke to suggested that it would probably be a good idea to spend another £400 and get a completely new cooker. I was flabbergasted.

Good Morning Jan,
Thank you for getting in touch and I am sorry to hear this. When we took Britannia over in 2012 we did try to keep as many parts ongoing as we could but have had to change some of the door features, if you replace this door it may not be the exact same as the original which is why we have given the offer of a new appliance also. If you would like further information on a new appliance or repair please email us at info@gdha.com

Just to add to the review of a couple of weeks ago, I see Britannia responded saying that I should email them, which I did....sadly it has been ignored and no response at all
Having spent 3K+ on a cooker such as this, I am surprised at the severe lack of back up for their product, still broken after faulting early October, and heading towards a SECOND CHRISTMAS with no cooker ! That is not good by anyone's standards ! All they seemed to care about was that is first failed about 8 weeks after the warranty !

Dreadful After Sales Service

Our Britannia cooker hood has stopped working. I tried phoning after sales service twice - first time I gave up after 8 minutes, second time even longer. The phone just rang and rang. I then had 2 chat sessions when I was told to call after sales, and as that wasn't possible (see above), they would contact me. A week later I have heard nothing.

After sales service is abysmal

After sales service is abysmal - phone queuing system just rings and rings. Enquiry email gets no response. Once you do get through you get "oh sorry that item is not covered under warranty" - no point in having a warranty if something as basic as an ignition candle switch doesn't work. DO NOT BUY from Britannia.

Dreadful Customer Service - Glen Dimplex for Britannia

Ordered a replacement oven door seal 9th Aug, parts are supplied through Glen Dimplex, Home Appliances Merseyside.
Part ordered over phone for next day, they do Saturday delivery (clearly shows it on website).
Whilst on the call the rep was continually trying to sell me cleaning products on 'special offer' said 'no thanks already have all the cleaning products I need'.
Part arrived 14th, wrong part, despite me having given rep oven reference and discussing it was the large 90cm oven. To make matters worse delivery agent (I think they have their own) left farm gate open, luckily someone was in (should have said delivery agent didn't knock on door simply left parcel on doorstep) otherwise we may well have had no chickens left had dogs noticed open gate.
Rang Britannia (its not actually Britannia its Glen Dimplex) at 17:30 and got message our offices are now closed please ring between 08:00 and 18:00!
Tried twitter but still no reply, tried facebook no response. Tried phone again at 08:15 this morning and system continually cuts you off. Tried the Liverpool number on the delivery note spoke to Brian, who cut me off the instant i mentioned Britannia.
Checked all the web sites and found out they are having problems with phone line and they provide email address, tried that still no response.
So I ring GlenDimplex head office in Dublin, spoke to a lovely lady who said she was sorry for the problems, asked for my number and said someone would call me...........nope no call.
Service is dreadful and Glen Dimplex are hiding behind Britannia name.

Update, correct part delivered within 48hrs of my review, shame they couldn't get it right first time (and save me a lot of wasted time), and disappointing that they only made contact after I left my review despite me emailing them, posting on facebook and on twitter.

Britannia RC-9TI-QL Q-Line Induction…

Britannia RC-9TI-QL Q-Line Induction Hob Range Cooker, Black
Firstly to say we bought this as an ex display model for £1000 so a bargain or so we thought.
Really wish we'd bought another make!
The induction hob is great but that is where it ends unfortunately!
The main oven is set at such a ridiculously high temperature that we can cook Yorkshire puddings at 100° and burn them in 7 minutes!!
Every time we try to cook in this oven we have to stand over it and keep turning it down. Stupidly high temperature.
My husband ( who is an electrician) has tested our oven and it registers 287° when the oven dial is set to 100°
Terrible product that is terribly overheated. Shame as we thought we were buying a quality appliance.
Would sincerely advise anyone else to buy another brand and definitely avoid Britannia.

My Advice - buy another brand.

I had an engineer to fix my extractor fan that stopped working and he was very good, but that is where the good service ended. When he changed the faulty unit the bulbs had gone so he ordered two more. 10 days later I rang to say they had not arrived. I was told to go to the DIY and buy some. After a trip to get some I realised that nothing in the shop would fit this connection even though I bought some to try. So I rang again to ask where I could purchase more. They then sent "compatible"bulbs that didn't fit. I then had to email photographs to prove I wasn't a buffoon that couldn't tell that two fittings completely different sizes would not not go together. After lots of talking I was told they would send an engineer out. I was losing patience by this stage. I don't need another engineer I just need bulbs!!! After 5 calls and 3 emails I still have no bulbs. I have a 2 year guarantee? If you, or no one else supply the bulbs except for on an 8 week order it seems wouldn't it be wise to carry stock for a product you are selling. Otherwise change the unit - it has a guarantee. Ridiculous!

Expensive Ovens - Poor Service and cancelled engineer visit

Understandably, electronic equipment does fail. However, a £5000 high quality oven that shares a warranty worse than that of a £400 oven from other manufacturers is disappointing. My oven was out of warranty by 4 months at the age of 2yrs 4 months old. I have had to pay a £175 engineering visit which is more than that of most other mainstream appliances. At 9:30 on the day of the visit I receive a call to say the engineer has been cancelled. I have lost a day holiday, despite contacting Britannia and complaining about wasted time and my costs, their fee remains. This seems to be the usual response from most companies that remain unaccountable for time away from work. Truth be told, if ever the customer decides to pursue this 'waste of time' and lost holiday through a county court, the company loses almost every single time and is ordered to pay costs in addition.

Considering manufacturers such as one that has the initials HP supplies a 10 year parts provision, I find it incredible that a high end product doesn't meet that of a low cost appliance. Britannia later backed down and said they'd cover the parts after a push.

It is usual if you buy high end equipment that a robust warranty usually follows like well known toasters and kettles, top spec fridge freezers, saucepans and other mid range kitchen equipment manufacturers that also supply power tools...

It's a thumbs down from me for Britannia ovens, not due to the failure, but due to the lack of customer care, the un-accountability of customer costs due to missed visits and the inability to supply mainstream expected parts cover for a £5000 oven without an argument.

Summary - Do not expect anything more from owning a Britannia oven from a service perspective.

No doubt there will be a reply asking me to email them where the same inconsiderate stance of my loss is not their problem will be given.

Britannia - It takes but a little research to see that you have many annoyed and unhappy customers here and elsewhere. Your costs in terms of sales as a result of these publicly aired experiences must be exorbitant.

2 stars for Britannia, Staff very friendly but limited.

Britannia Living - Great Customer Service - Thank you Jennifer

Britannia Living - a great Customer Service Experience.
Jennifer at Britannia Living could not have been more helpful, patient and caring.
I bought a Britannia Delphi Twin Oven Range and decided to fit it myself as I was replacing an existing Range.
Could I get the legs on properly - no way.
I called Britannia Living Customer Service. Amazing, the machine that answered did not try to make me use the website or direct me somewhere else, just press 1 and I was through to Jennifer.
I explained my problem and Jennifer spoke to engineers, talked me through everything, but in the process of adjusting the feet, I had loosened the screw one of the feet is fitted to, so I asked for an engineer. Jennifer tried to avoid me spending the £ 175.00 callout (there's nothing wrong with the legs it was down to me.). but I needed an engineer so booked one.
Before the engineer came I needed to put a plinth under the cooker to get the right height and in the process of adjusting the legs again I managed to screw the dodgy leg on properly.
Called customer services to cancel engineer. Got Jennifer again, cancelled appointment and Jennifer refunded the fee without a problem.
Such an nice experience.
Such a charming young lady, Britannia are lucky to have her.

We have had a Britannia Wyre for the last 3 years. It cost a lot but it looks good and we thought we were buying quality. Outside of the 2 year warranty it went through a phase of tripping the fuse and being inoperable. After repair it worked for a while but now the centre, most powerful/useful hob position doesn't work and reports error E4. We've been quoted £600 to fix and will probably change cooker instead of sending good money after bad. Surprised to learn they are an Italian firm with their name. When it actually works it works well and the induction hob was great.
