Customer service - first class

I have needed to contact Britannia for my cooker which is still under warranty on two occasions recently. I can honestly say that on both occasions the service and support I received was superb. Swift, friendly and efficient. I was dreading making the calls, being held in an endless queue and then battling to get my cooker fixed. My experience could not have been more different to the point I feel it is important to recognise such a great service. Well done and thank you.

Britannia.....not quite

Britannia.....not quite. Mine was made in Italy.
Initial problem was that the large oven temperatures were much higher than the dial and any dishes were overcooked.
The seals on the doors of both ovens were flimsy and frequently detached, even after a full service.
Worst still was the replacement of a faulty oven door, out of warranty, which cost nearly £800.
I invested a lot of money in this product but I could not possibly recommend it to anyone. Please look elsewhere.

Customer service review not product

Customer service review not product
Bought a new range cooker just over 2 years ago and the shelves have rust which is not good but that’s another review
This one is about the exceptional service I have received from a member of the aftersales team in getting my shelves replaced despite the technical team saying it wasn’t rust
She has gone above and beyond both on this occasion for the side supports and previously for the shelves

Clock replacement on Britannia Range

Booking the engineer call was easy; I have an annual maintenance agreement which covers labour. Good interaction with the telephone service desk who quoted a price for replacement clock for our Britannia range (7 years old). Engineers called as expected on morning of expected visit, stated expected time of arrival and duly arrived within those parameters. He understood what needed to be replaced but he told me the price for the unit was >£100 more than I had been advised over the phone. When I queried, he said that often happened, but that his price superseded that telephone advice. So, I accepted the difference - I wanted the issue fixed and I was not going to send him away! Repair done with minimum of fuss (other than the engineer tripping our circuit breaker when he got the polarity wrong), but all in all a good engineer, good manner and the problem has been resolved.

Rubbish design, it don’t meet your expectations.

We have the double oven induction hob. The oven seals continually fail. We have replaced them many times and as 55 year old I have never had such an issue with an oven.
Ordered a new one recently and it broke immediately when we tried to fix it on.
Ordered yet another new one and it keeps falling off.
Rubbish design Britannia.

Would not recommend.

We bought our Britannia range cooker about 6 years ago. It broke after 3 years and has recently broken again.
I am not going to go into the details about the problems we've faced getting the cooker repaired - I just want to say that we will not buy Britannia products in future and would not recommend them.

Ok range, terrible after sales support

I have a double oven Britannia range, about 6 years old. It has developed a few minor problems - an oven light doesn't work (no, it's not just the bulb), one of the gas ring starters has stopped functioning. It's a bit soon to experience this sort of reliability issue in my opinion, but I thought I would bite the bullet and pay the hefty £250 call-out charge (excluding parts!) to have it fixed. Scheduled the visit (and the time off work) weeks in advance, only for Britannia to call the a day before to cancel because they had run out of spare parts. Couldn't even tell me when they might be able to reschedule, and didn't want to refund my £250. Terrible and horribly expensive customer service, pity I'm stuck with the range. After this experience I wouldn't choose Britannia again.

Excellent service and customer support

Excellent service and customer support. We inherited a Britannia ILive range when we purchased the property a couple of months ago. This weekend the BBQ grill popped and caught fire. I placed a call to customer service who were able to look up the make and model from my post code, as the previous owner had registered it 20 years ago.
The agent t was quickly able to give me details of the cooker and a estimate of the replacement part. I also booked a Health Care Check for the range which given its age I thought was good value and made sense. I will update once we have had the health check

Good customer service but unreliable induction product

We bought our induction hob range cooker about 8 years ago and for the first 5 years it worked very well although the layout of the controls is illogical to say the least. Then in the 5th year a pair of the rings stopped working when parts on the induction control module blew, which then resulted in the main circuit breaker tripping.

When we contacted Britannia we were told that they didn't cover our area anymore and we would have to arrange for an electrician to come and check it. Fortunately I'm an engineer and my son-in-law is an electrician. After talking to Britannia they said we needed to replace the induction control module at a cost of just under £400.

We received the unit which we duly replaced only to find it would stop working when the oven underneath got hot. After more discussion Britannia shipped a replacement which did work. Well at least for 2 years.

Just a couple of weeks ago a different pair of rings blew with the same fault. Then two days later the module for the two rings replaced earlier also blew.

In summary Britannia Customer Service have been helpful in the past but the reliability of the induction hob is questionable. Three modules now blown. One at 2 years, one at 5 years and one at just under 8 years. The current cost to repair is not worth it and we are looking to get a new cooker with dual fuel as induction doesn't appear to be very reliable and is expensive to repair.

I was charged £250 for a simple repair replacing the cooker element The work took less than 45 minutes The repair involved removing and re installing 10 screws( Approx)
It is difficult not to view this charge as a money making process rather than an after sales repair

other the engineer was was excellent it is the charge I take issue with

My experience with Britannia

My experience with Britannia, where do I begin. My range cooker purchased June 2015 had a fault with the fan at first. Repaired by Britannia. On Xmas Day the cooker blew with turkey and trimmings ruined. Britannia implied that the cabling and power load were at fault but as the cabling had been especially installed to take the cooker it was not the case. (Electrician verified)
Eventually a replacement cooker was supplied with extra warranty!
Here we go again, small oven when put to use for a pre Xmas meal caused the circuits to trip. Booked for an engineer visit today and was assured by Britannia that engineers would have all requisite spare parts. No way, the assumed fault a replacement lower oven element is not in stock and there is no definite date for arrival in this country!
Am presently waiting for Britannia to return my call as to when, what will be happening. I really have no confidence in the product at all.

How did Britannia deal with this?

I bought a Britannia range cooker from John Lewis 18 months ago. The cooker worked well until about three weeks ago when it developed a fault in that when I turn on the fan oven, it trips the electricity in my house.
I called an electrician (thinking it was a problem with the electrics in ny house) who advised me that the fault was with the cooker.
I then called Britannia who said the first available appointment was in 10 days - so 10 days without a cooker.
The engineer arrived, changed the cooker element and said it was fixed. I asked him to stay while we checked that the fault was cured, but after five minutes it blew the circuit again. He then said it needs another spare part (thermostat) which he didn't have with him - which meant another 10 days without an oven
Another engineer arrived today, fitted the element and left, and after 5 minutes, the cooler blew the circuit breaker AGAIN.
so I'm back to calling Brittannia AGAIN, and waiting goodness knows how long for another appointment...
So my overall conclusion is that, if you are considering buying a Britannia cooker; proceed with caution !!

Subsequently, I contacted Britannia (again) expecting further hassle in getting the cooker repaired, but I’ve now changed my view of of the company;   I called them this morning to arrange for (yet another!) visit from a technician and they advised me that technical faults such as this are so unusual, they are replacing the cooker with a brand new one (to be installed immediately!).
The faults were very disappointing,  but the response of Britannia was excellent, and also demonstrates their faith in their products in that failures such as this are so rare that they are prepared to stand behind their reputation for quality….   Well done Britannia

Best customer service reps around - other companies could learn some useful lessons

I bought a large Britannia range oven 20 years ago and - as the size is no longer manufactured - need to keep it going! Whenever problems have arisen, the customer service representatives are exceptionally helpful and efficient on the phone and can usually arrange for an engineer to visit within a week. They are always a pleasure to deal with - I only wish other companies provided a similar service.

Excellent customer service and product

I needed to replace my 14 year old Britannia range cooker, having had only one minor repair to the clock in those 14 years. I called and spoke to Abbey Albahaithre who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and talked me through all the options, repairing or replacing. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he really was an excellent representative of the company. I am very pleased with my new oven and would highly recommend speaking to Abbey at Britannia.

Excellent after sales service.

Excellent after sales service. Contact - Abbey Albahaithre - was very knowledgeable and relaxed - not rushed at all. Genuinely wanted to find best solution to my problem and was prepared to go away and get back with more information - very promptly too.
The range cooker has been installed as part of a kitchen improvement project and now needs to be temporarily removed/reinstalled due to issues with the flooring.

Fantastic response from Britannia…

Fantastic response from Britannia Account Specialist , Deborah. We emailed Britannia with a request to 'repair' the large oven on our cooker. Deborah wondered whether we had checked the automatic timer on the cooker. We did check it and, hey presto, the oven is working. She saved us £250 plus in service charges. Great service and much appreciated.

Age is not important.

Although my Britannia cooker is 13 years old the young lady taking my particulars left me feeling that my problem was important to the company and asked all the relevant questions in order that my cooker should be put right again.
