Some improvement

Since my review on 10/08/23 I have found and installed a more complete operating sytem. The printer will now scan to my PC using wireless, and controlled from the PC.
The clock is still running half and hour slow.
I am mystified as to how people have been able to ring Customer Support, a whenever I try I get a recording saying the number is out of sevice, please try later. There is a chatline, but it only works on Whats App. I have no wish to use whats app, so I get no customer support.

I purchased a Brother printer and when…

I purchased a Brother printer and when it arrived I set up. but it was printing blank pages. I went to the Brother website to get support. I entered my email and phone number and within 2 min received a call for a Manchester (UK) number the guy first linked to my laptop then found that the dirvers had not loaded properly and downloaded the new version and fixed that but something was still not right. He said he would get his supervisor. The supervisor immediately said, and quite agressively, they (support) had not done anything wrong. Then he quickly showed me a "list of infections" on my laptop and said I needed another Firewall software applicaton (Microsoft firewall is already on the laptop anyway?). He wanted me to pay £129 for a 3 year license and he would get someone to phone me to clean the machine and install it. 1. Why is Brother tech support selling other software? 2. Why was the tech supervisor so agressive in selling the software and showing me a quick view of all the "infections"? This is a scamers way of operating! I did not pay anything and put the phone down. Brother can you explain what is going on with your support? If this is how your support operates I would NOT recommend anyone to by your products.

terrible company, customer support appalling, like dealing with HMRC, BT etc, "computer says nooo", AVOID, typical large corporation that does not care about customers when things go wrong, they make everything so tedious in a hope you go away.

AVOID!! Terrible company!

Bought a colour label printer, it is not as described and it’s just a terrible product. I cannot send back as I’ve used it, regardless that it’s not fit for purpose. I contacted Brother to see if it was me that was the issue and looking for advice and guidance on how to use the machine and the service was terrible. Unfriendly, unhelpful and couldn’t give a rats backside about their customers. Terrible products, terrible service, terrible company. Avoid at every cost!!

Brother (lack of) Support

Bought a Brother MFC-J4540DWXL in March 2022, had to return the first one because of a fault. The second one appeared to be ok until just out of warranty when it developed a fault with print alignment. Brother support just washed their hands of it, effectively saying that we were on our own and would have to pay to have it repaired at an approved service centre. It was not a cheap printer and is only 15 months old. Not happy with their attitude and lack of customer service/support

Please don't use brother.co.uk

Please don't use brother.co.uk. Their after-sales service is awful! Simon, who I chatted with now, took me for an idiot, I think. Their website is hugely unfriendly if you want to buy supplies and lends itself to mistakes very easily. Of course, Brother don't care about this...Phone them, he said...Really? I thought that's what customer care is all about! Clearly not with Brother!

Wow! what a difference

Wow! I must be the exception to the rule here. Ive just bought my very first Brother inkjet printer after years of buying from HP - HP+ did it for me, Im not interested in free ink or monthly subscriptions, HP printer 1 month old 'returned to sender'
Anyway, the Brother arrived within a day and after a small bit of hassle for half an hour getting to know how to operate their control panel, all up and running as any printer should. I look forward to many years of hassle free printing - just as long as it stops printing when running out of paper & ink just like HP used to do. At least I had to search for Ecopro for info, unlike HP who deceive customers into opting for HP+.

Terrible support, printers go down when Brother netwok fails

After years of using Epson and HP printers, I thought we would try out a Brother printer for our A4 and A3 business printing and scanning. I also signed up to their EcoPro service (which automatically sends replacement cartridges throuygh the post). This service went down on 26th May and came back on 2nd June. During that period the printer was locked by Brother and would not work. They say it was locked because we subscribed to their EcoPro service, which needs to communicate with their servers at all times. If their server goes down, as it did for a week, any printer connected to it will not work. That is no use at all. The Brother help during this period kept pointing me to driver updates, factory default resets. it wasn't until the service came back that they admitted that none of these solutions would have worked as the printer serial number is locked to their servers. In that time we paid IT engineers, who couldn't solve the issue, and had to buy a new HP printer that we didn't need. I warn anybody thinking of buying a Brother printer and signing up to EcoPro that it is likely to be a very big and expensive mistake. Stick with the more well known brands.

Beware Brother cash-back deals

I bought a printer from AO with a £50 cash-back claim. Seemed a good deal until I tried to claim the £50.
Brother said the printer was never on a cash-back deal & AO couldn't go back 14 days to check.

Terrible product, and misleading review system.

The Brother website picks and chooses what reviews to show, so if you look on their website at a product the star rating is not reliable.

Last year I bought a MFC-J6955DW, and it's the worst printer I've ever owned - but magically shows a 4.4 star rating. The only "low" ratings are ones they can react to and make themselves look helpful or make the customer look wrong so the system looks genuine.

I LOATHE this piece of junk. In 8 years of business revolving around printed documents, I have not owned a printer I have hated more or regretted purchasing so much. It's no surprise it didn't come with any meaningful warranty - Brother would go out of business from all the claims. This piece of $£%& makes me so angry and wastes so much expensive paper it sets me in a rage. If it hadn't cost so much money that I have no recourse to get back, it would go out on the curb for the scrap men. I will NEVER waste money on another Brother, and wouldn't inflict this level of frustration and anger on anyone else I know.

If you plan to purchase a Brother printer, make sure you look all over the web for reviews, and not just on their own site!

Region locked ink cartridges, on an ink tank printer

Spent ages researching printers and picked the Brother MFC-J5945DW. Was mostly an ok printer, photo's were nothing to write home about.

Then we moved from Australia to the UK and brought the printer with us, given the size of the machine / box that was a significant expense. Only to find that when we bought ink cartridges in the UK to refill the ink tanks, they have a chip on them that stops the printer recognizing them.

Contacted brother support and told the printers are region locked and cartridges will need to be shipped from Australia or buy another printer. No offer to part exchange, or even recycle the machine.

Did wonder why a ink tank printer had cartridges still, and it's a way to keep making money. Top marks Brother, I guess the environment wasn't top of your list.

Oh and no mention of the region locked settings in any specs or when I spoke to the sales people at Harvey Norman in Australia as moving to the UK was discussed when I bought the machine.

Customer Service Fail

I purchased a Brother printer in 2020 in good faith from a UK website. I don't use it that much, so only recently needed to replace the toner (October 2022). I clicked the button in the Brother software for replacement supplies and was directed to a webpage with the toner I needed. I bought that model of toner and it wouldn't fit. Customer support said my printer is meant for the European market and so the UK toner is not compatible. They refused to offer any support whatsoever despite their software directing me to purchase the incompatible toner. I was disappointed by the lack of responsibility they accepted, especially for a company whose slogan is 'At your side'.

Take care before purchase "see edit"

Purchased a brother lazer printer hl-l2310 and found that you can only print the whole A4 page, in other words if you wanted to print two documents on the same page you can't, it has no way to size your print, I am told by Brothers tech that I would have to get word to change that problem. I think that this problem should be highlighted before purchase
Since I wrote this, in contradiction to what I was told I have found a way to do this without microsoft word. Use ctri key and click on say 4 pics you wish to print on one A4 sheet- right click and in dropdown
click print, you will see only one of your selected pics. on right scroll down the options untill you see one with 4 pics, click that option and you will see all 4 of your pics, click print, done, hope this is of use

Only interested in arranging a technician for £199.00 . Get a grip Brother, your customers will not stand from profiteering. Support the consumer who has already bought your product don’t fleece them ….!!!!! Maybe I should return the item and buy an HP ?

The worst we have bought

We bought it from the company for simple use, the installation was done with little difficulty after a few prints he wanted to change the inks, we bought and put the new ones and it only printed in blue. We did the cleaning recommended by the BROTHER support but it didn't work and they told us to try again and they ran out of ink.

Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Absolutely disgusting customer service.
Brother Laser Printers are Useless!
Please carefully consider a better machine. Brother are absolutely garbage at making laser printers.
£200 down the drain.

I bought a Brother Laser printer 3 months ago. The amount of ink they give you is tiny, such a ludicrous small amount. Then it started printing incorrectly, patchy, lines, missing. I tried to return it to Argos.
Call Brother, they said.

I did, here is the e-mail conversation...

In order to send this case to our second level team to have a look at it, I will need the following details:
- Full address (Business name if applicable) and contact number of where the printer is located.
- Model and serial numbers of all toners, serial number can be found on the toner on a white brother sticker label. (E.g. TN-1111, TKFF11X########11XXX1111)
- Model and serial numbers of all drums, serial number can be found on the drum on a white brother sticker label. (E.g. DR-1111, DKFF11X#########11XXX1111).
- The paper type and weight used in the printer:
- The serial number of the printer which can be found at the back of the printer on a white brother sticker label. This serial number usually starts with the letter E.
Please respond to this email without changing the subject of it.
Should you have any further inquiries please do not hesitate to contact us.

I am now too upset and have no more time for this.

Please refund for this faulty machine WHICH IS NOT EVEN 3 MONTHS OLD!
The same will be true for Argos who have sidestepped this issue adroitly.

DO NOT reply asking for more serial numbers.
Regards,

Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately I will need to know which Serial number corresponds with which toner model.
I also need the Drum Model and Serial number.

Thank you for contacting Brother support.
Please be advised that we have escalated your issue to our technical support team who will be in touch with you as soon as possible.
I trust that this information will be of some assistance to you, however should you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us.

So far, great customer support re printer…

So far, really good customer support re printer problem, so rare these days; phone support from real person, follow up email with suggestions for fix, and getting back to them if still not fixed. So far, so good…yet to see if we can actually fix the problem!

Non-existant customer service

Non-existant customer service. Manuals available are woefully bad and fail to address even simple processes and fixes. Videos available are equally bad since they lump a bunch of machines with different keyboard/touchpads into the same group with no explanation as to how to fix one that doesn't have the same keyboard. Online help page just circles you back to garbage. So Brother hope you read this (and the 10 other less than sterling reviews that I have left) and get back to me. Garbage company. Stay away from them and work with someone who has real customer service and some integrity.
