The recovery truck that collected our car when we broke down was ancient, battered and the glasses hoist struggled to work.
I went to get into the truck and it turned out the recovery truck driver had brought his girlfriend along for the ride, so the truck driver asked me to sit in my car, which was being towed by the broke hoist which he had to hit with a lump hammer to get it in place.
I know we didn’t have far left to get to our holiday destination, but my holiday was ruined as I knew we would have the same recovery company to take us home and might run into the same problem.
We had a lovely hire car for part of the holiday, then on the way home we were given an ancient courtesy car my husband drive home, and another driver brought our car home on the back of a single cab recovery truck that had no room for us to ride in, hence being given the ropey old courtesy car.
I refuse to go back to South Devon again in case we break down as it will probably be the same recovery company again.
It was not a Green Flag recovery truck either way, it was a random recovery company contracted to provide a ‘service’ to our holiday destination and to return us home again at the end of the holiday, but never again.
