Purchased a set of curtains along with numerous other items over the last few years i must have spent around two thousand pounds in the shop when i got home the curtains were the wrong size the curtains had not been opened took the curtains back i could not find my receipt i did not want my money back i just wanted a straight exchange but because i did not have the receipt bearing in mind this is one of their own branded product i asked them for a head office number of which i was told that they did not have one after all the items i have purchased at the redcar store i feel i have been conned so come on Mr Chiltern Mills let's show a bit of good faith there are a lot more stores that sale the same products you will never get any more of my custom
Very poor customer service
Very poor customer service , I had a roller blind fitted with them and they cracked one of my bathroom tiles . After numerous phone calls for them to resolve the issue and fix the problem they just keep passing the blame and dont seem to sort the issue out .
We recently shopped at the Sutton…
We recently shopped at the Sutton Branch, and it could not have been a better experience. So, i cannot envisage why recent reviews are so negative.
All of the staff there were attentive without being intrusive, yet quick to respond to questions and keen to help.
My partner needed assistance with sizing choices for our forthcoming decision about curtains and blinds, and i believe it was a lady called Marina, who advised her with knowledge and courtesy, she made the experience a relaxed and quite easy time for us to chat and deliberate. We will be returning there soon, once we have decided our choices. But hang the curtains, i've got my eye on the garden furniture.
If you're looking for the personal informal touch, not really on offer at the big stores of this type, here is where you should go, the prices are attractive too.
Happy Blinding

Unsatisfactory curtains and unsatisfactory response from Store
I purchased 2 prs of curtains 3 wks ago from Leeds and when I opened them to press and hang I noticed that the linings were very tight and the corner of thr hem was bunched up. I tried to iron the curtains then hung them and used a steamer but the creases and folds couldn't be removed. I took them back to the store and spent one and a half hours talking to the two assistants who sent for the Manager only when I said I would speak to Trading Standards. My comment was that because they did not hang right down the edges into the corner and the creases were still there so therefore I said they were not of satisfactory quality and not fit for purpose. The Manager said she disagreed and it was buyer beware. Her words were that they are made cheaply abroad and it doesn't matter whether you pay a lot for them or they are cheap, it depends on the manufacturer and different machinists could be making them. As for the creases I was informed that they could well have been packed for months as they are made in China cheaply (I paid £95 for the 90 x 90 and £53 for the 66 x 54 so not that cheap to buy) then stored in the container until it's full then they have to come to England and could sit on the shop floor for weeks or months! As I didn't have the packaging (I didn't expect the curtains to be poor quality and have to return) she said nothing could be done. When I calmly said I would speak to Trading Standards for their views, the Manager offered to let me exchange for another pair of the SAME ones so that she could re-pack mine and sell them on. It was my only option.I said I would if they opened the packs infront of me and I could see that the replacement was perfect but she took them off the shop floor , returning and saying they were fine. On ironing this pair they are slightly easier to remove the creases but I can see from the edges and corner that the lining has been sewn too tightly.I have rung Citizens Advice who advised that I am entitled to a refund as it is within 30 days, in accordance with the curtains being unsatisfactory and unfit for purpose as per the Consumer Rights Act of 2015. I do not hold out any hope from the Store?? Chiltern to respond to me please.
Disgusting service at Sutton In Ashfield Chilton Mills
Disgusting service at Sutton in Ashfield from Marina Williams instead of assisting people she was stood talking to 2 other staff members ignoring potential customers,
my husband and I had taken my mother to choose new bedding and curtains but we noticed only single sizes where on display We noticed cupboards underneath the bedding with no signs on so I opened it to reveal more bedding it wasn’t to my mothers liking so we moved to the next cupboard this was empty the small lady dressed in all dark blue who looked to be in charge shouted in a very loud angry tone from the counter area which was at the other side of the store THERES NOTHING IN THERe FOR YOU this was extremely embarrassing for us my mother who had already chosen some items asked me shall I put them down to which I replied no we approached the counter to purchase our items and the same lady walked away leaving the other 2 ladies to serve us both clearly looked uncomfortable and embarrassed I asked the assistant what the ladies name was who had been rude and unhelpful the assistant gave me the name Marina Williams and apologised.
This Marina Williams looked to be in charge and should have assisted her customers instead she was ignorant rude and extremely unfriendly we will never ever return to the store.

Fantastic customer service and value!
We have just moved into our first new house (Newmillerdam, Wakefield) and needed (lots of!) curtains, blinds etc. - final fitting was today.
We had previously been quoted an astronomical price from an interior design company but fortunately a friend recommended Chiltern Mills at Crossgates, Leeds. They have been fantastic! We have had both curtains and several types of blinds (Perfect fit, wooden, Z-light and Roman). The quality, value and customer service has been second to none. Although all of the staff we have dealt with have been excellent, a special mention for Alison who could not have been more helpful! She has literally saved us a fortune whilst ensuring we haven’t compromised on both appearance and quality. THANK YOU!!

Very pleasant shopping experience
Went in the Redcar store with my Mum, to order a wardrobe.
The staff in the furniture department could not have been more helpful, and friendly if they tried. It was a pleasure shopping there.
Mum is delighted with her wardrobe, and could not fault the whole shopping experience, from choosing, ordering and delivery. The delivery people were also very helpful.
Can definitely recommend this store.

faulty goods
Bought a blind from Redcar store, turns out to be faulty wouldn’t exchange for new one as I didn’t have receipt. Even though it had the paid tape on it that they put on large items to prove payment. Said have to make complaint via head office. Even though The sale of goods act 2015 say the goods have to be fit for purpose. Which this wasn’t (black out blind with holes in it ) I’ve got nowhere store manager basically said tough that’s our company policy. Which fair enough for an exchange!! Furious

My family experienced a traumatic house…
My family experienced a traumatic house fire in August which left us with an uninhabitable house and having to stay with family whilst repairs were being carried out. The extent of the damage was throughout our home, including the bedrooms of our 4 children with extensive structual and contents damage. Unbeknown to us a close friend of ours contacted Chiltern Mill at Crossgates and asked if they could offer us any help. We were so overwhelmed when we were contacted to say they had items to donate to us and even more overwhelmed when we saw what the company had donated. Mattresses for us and each of our children's beds, bedding- sheets and duvets for all beds, lots of gorgeous towels, numerous cushions and so much mire! And right at the bottom of one box a big bottle of bubble bath for the children! I honestly sat amongst it all and cried. Chiltern Mills you are angels, we are truly amazed by your kindness and honestly we can not put into words what your donation means in our journey in rebuilding our lives. Thank you so much!

Absolute disgusting retailer
Absolute disgusting retailer! Won’t give refunds for unsuitable purchases (even though they don’t tell you this at the till). Stuck now with an £80 pair of curtains that I don’t want or a store credit note. They need make this clear when purchasing! Their get out clause is well it’s written at the till.... well I’m sorry but you have 15 notices at the till... am I supposed to stand & read every one just in case before I make a purchase? Total rip off merchant! Will never purchase again!

Worst retail experience ever
1 star is too much after my experience at Crossgates store today. I was so upset from the way I was spoken to by the female assistant on the till and a female supervisor to the point where another more kindly male assistant asked me if I was okay. I said I wasn't ok close to tears and they both continued to be short tempered and rude apparently tutting under their breath.. I'd asked an assistant about the returns policy the day before and was not told they do not give refunds. Nor could I see a small notice taped flat on a high counter under my intended purchases, loaded from a bending position or another on a side wall behind the side of a trolley park before an automatic gate. I was made to feel stupid. In fact I couldn't find any prominent notice of the shop terms and conditions after searching for them in a store (full of multiple advertising notices) before I left, nor are they published on line.. Wish I'd read the reviews of others with similar staff experiences before venturing through the door. To make matters worse Ive just hung up 2 sets of long curtains that have wavy hems, 12'' shorter than they should be in places. Credit notes are handwritten. it says on them only valid for 6 moths and there doesn't seem to be any way of using them on line. The unusable curtains. were an exchange for mis colour matched curtains I had to return and cost £100. potentially putting me just over £123 out of pocket with ineffective credit notes. I was told the manageress refused to come out and speak with me and have emailed a complaint to the info address on the web site, hopeful that senior management take customer care more seriously. I am a 66 year old mild mannered pensioner and do not want to step back into that store alone. I had also been overcharged by £20 which has been refunded.
Ordered 4 x Teal voile panels on line
Ordered 4 x voile panels on line. Quickly received an email, saying they only had 2 in stock that colour and would hope to receive the others by Thursday and dispatch my order ASAP. Well, I received nother email to say they had dispatched the complete order and it arrived on Thursday & collected from my nominated collection address, which I nominated the day before. Their communication & customer service was excellent as was the product. Also, high level service by DPD Couriers. Many thanks.

Really disappointed that after I was told my delivery would be first of the day on satarday it was delivered at 12:00pm. After phoning customer service they were meant to start at 10:00am. When I was buying I was also told by the sales agent that everything would be assembled. The delivery guys simply delivered their late delivery and said it didn’t say assembly. How could I argue with that? I’m frustrated that they could just rock up 2 hrs late and say sorry we had a full van to load, like you should be prepared for that is your many years of doing this, it’s not your first delivery!
