Bangalore to Poovar tour

We were met at the airport by our driver Susselan and he was immediately very helpful and charming. He was a shy person and his spoken English was sometimes difficult to understand. Our hotels were very good, especially the CGH Earth at Wayanad. Superb sights to visit and brilliant wild life in the forest. Disappointed not to see leopards and elephants but know it's a question of luck!! Our stay in Kochin was disappointing as both the Synagogue and the Dutch Palace were closed. Our guide also took us to several shops where you felt somewhat obliged to buy the things we were being shown, despite saying he wouldn't be doing so! We also missed out on the Giant Bull statue at Mysore as the road was closed. No alternative was offered. At no time during the trip was the local rep ever in evidence to hear of potential greviances. Although we were in a car with our own driver, we were essentially in a large group with other Citrus holidayers on the same tour schedule. We were not made aware of this at the time of booking and therefore had to contend with some people who were at times irritating! The final hotel in Poovar was very tired. The cottage room was very good but the dining room was not to the standard of the other hotels on the tour and the food was the most disappointing and least flavoured. The one hour complimentary boat trip was uninteresting but we paid for a second trip the following day and had a fabulous local boatman who showed us some great birds and other fauna in the backwaters. Staff at all hotels were fabulous.

Four retired female friends on a holiday of a lifetime!…

Three single retired female friends and I had a big adventure of a lifetime visiting India for 3 weeks organised by Citrus Holidays. I can honestly say that although we didn't know what to expect, we were very pleased by the service from booking, to the drivers and guides supplied by Citrus and associated companies used in India. We were very well looked after and felt safe and secure alone on the trip.

We had a minibus which did provide good space and comfort as being driven from Delhi, Agra and Jaipur is quite a trek. Around 4/6 hours each leg. The driver we had in the North, Soni was really quite exceptionally informative, helpful, reliable and caring. Kittan, our friendly giant of a driver in Kerala was also very helpful, organised, courteous and took some great photos of us on his own phone when ours had died, notably when having a fantastic elephant ride in Thekkedy, Kerala. All our guides were great. Very informative, organised, flexible to our needs and often with a great sense of humour.

The hotels were all fine with some being better than others but overall the staff, service and food was very good. In fact, the staff really couldn't do enough for us and there was plenty of food choice for all tastes.

One of the highlights was definitely the backwater overnight boat trip in Kerala. The staff were brilliant and the food excellent. What an experience watching local life unfold along the water's edge and the bird life was fantastic. The Isola di Cocco hotel in Poover was also another highlight. After the hussle and bussle of the North, it was a welcome oasis of calm plus the wonderful ayurvedic massage.

There was one fly in the ointment with our trip however which has no bearing on the quality of the trip. One of our party unfortunately messed up with her Indian visa and when arriving at Stansted found it was two days out of date so Emirates would not let her fly with us. The Emirates customer services assistant assured us she had noted on her account that it wasn't a no show and therefore the return flight would still be retained. A no show automatically cancels the return flight apparently. Contact was made with Citrus from the airport but as it was a Sunday, she consequently had to go to the Indian High commission the next day for another visa costing £168 and also buy another return flight, costing around £800 with Citrus if she wanted to join us in India and leave that evening. Citrus ensured her that Emirates cancelled the return flight This is currently being discussed and we hope Citrus will do the right thing by her as we would all be keen to use them again in the future.

Overall, I would recommend our trip to India with Citrus. It was good value for money, well organised, fascinating and a holiday of a lifetime.

First time we have travelled with…

First time we have travelled with Citrus and would recommend the southern India and kerela tour with private chauffeur we have thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Our highlights being the evergreen boat trip, walking into town in Ooty, the amazing staff at the Radisson Blu Altria in Bangalore, Earth Wayanad wild hotel and the fabulous setting and pool at Isoladicocco for our final 3 days which were lovely and relaxing after a busy schedule. Tom Mathew our driver was excellent, we were a family of 7 travelling in his minibus. He made the holiday stress free, he was always on time, courteous and helpful. He often stopped for us to take photos and point out interesting things on route. On days without guides he always accompanied us to the entrances and told us what to do. He always asked when we wanted to have rest stops and his choices were good.

Golden Triangle and Kerala tour

We - 2 couples - spent 16 days on a well constructed tour firstly of the Golden Triangle followed by the delightful state of Kerala. We have used Citrus on a few holidays especially Far East and they rarely if ever disappoint. This particular tour lived up to everything we hoped it would, with the fantastic sights of Dehli, Jaipour and Agra the highlight of which was the stunning Taj Mahal. South to Kerala and a very different climate and landscape however just as enjoyable for it's fantastic scenery, lovely food and friendly people. The highlight of this part of the tour was the overnight trip on a houseboat which was truly amazing. Everything ran like clockwork thanks to our guide Thomas and our excellent driver Tom. We thoroughly recommend Citrus who will organise every detail and at a fair price.

Booking process review

We wanted to book a tour of southern India at relatively short notice. Flight options were very limited but Danny from Citrus Travel kept us well informed during the day as he persevered to find a solution during a peak travel period. He got us there after considering many options. We are now looking forward to our tour of India: if the service so far is an indicator then it will be fantastic. Well done and thank you Danny.

Great Citrus tour of southern India

Great Citrus tour of southern India. 11 nights touring with a great driver Sree, then 7 nights at the Marari beach resort, returning 9th Dec. Last year we toured the Triangle and some other cities with another company, and both feel this Citrus holiday was a superior tour and better value for money. We has a guide only when needed - most times our excellent driver was all we needed. The whole tour was on a half board (buffet) basis, which was excellent, and we 'upgraded' ourselves occasionally to a la carte rather than buffet, All places visited were really interesting and both the staff and food at all locatiosn was great. The Marari Beach resort was first class, just what we needed, and we were treated like royalty simply because we stayed for 7 nights, which is apparently unusual! Only thing we would change if we go again is to get direct flights if at all possible. It was our choice to fly Emirates via Dubai, but I would avoid it if possible in future, direct flights save an awful lot of travelling time!!

Citrus Holidays Tour of Southern Indian

We've just had one of the best holidays ever, it was a Southern India Tour with our own private driver arranged by Citrus Holidays.
We landed at Bangalore airport where our driver Anthony was waiting to take us to our first hotel to recover from our journey.
All the hotels throughout our trip were very comfortable and the food was excellant, we could not have asked for more.
It was great to have a very knowledgable guide in Mysore as we learnt so much about the city the culture. The hotel in Otty was unusual but provided us with everything we needed. Unfortunately in Otty the heavy rain caused a landslide on the railway so we missed out on that trip.
Wayanad Wild resort was amazing, the chef, food and service were 5*Star and the rooms and location so relaxing, we wished we'd had more time there.
Kochi was not as pretty as Mysore and the Palace and Synagogue in Kochi were closed on the day of our tour but our guide once again was excellent.

The following 24hours were wonderful, a overnight backwater houseboat cruise, just the two of us on the boat, waited on and cooked for, we wished we could have had a 2nd night on board.

We extended our stay at our final hotel in Poovar by 4 days which ment we could totally unwind.
We'd like to thank Anthony our driver for looking after us so well he made everything tick like clockwork, he's such a safe driver and he made sure we had nothing to worry about. MANY THANKS ANTHONY.
The full holiday exceeded our expectations and we will diffinately be using Citrus again.. Thank you

No flights from North East UK!

We have enjoyed some fabulous holidays with citrus over the years. They have always been tip top and warranted 5 star reviews! We would love to enjoy more but sadly us northerners are being excluded from their trips as the nearest northern airport the travel from is either Manchester or Edinburgh (sometimes). This means we from the north east of England have to add at least a 2 hour journey to the airport! Hence the one star rating! Consequently we (and many of our friends) have stopped travelling with them. So come on citrus please dont exclude us north easterners from your fabulous holidays by providing flights from Newcastle and/or Leeds Bradford! We have good money to spend with you!

Golden Triangle, Ranthambore and Southern India

Golden Triangle, Ranthambore and Southern India Tour

From our very first online chat Nancy has always been there to answer our many questions, and we had many! We have been very impressed with the first class service we have encountered through from the early enquiry stage right until the end of the holiday. We had a very full itinerary and could not have done it without you. The hotels were very good on the whole, the food served was usually buffet style and of a very good standard. The highlights of our trip were Wayanad Wild and the houseboat.
On arrival in Delhi we were greeted by our driver Sanjay, who was so patient as the driving in the north is not for the faint hearted. We were always collected on time from our hotel and he was very professional throughout the trip.
We then flew from Delhi to Bangalore where we met Shyju, who again was the most professional and courteous driver. As the second part of the tour was longer and we had a couple of lengthy journeys we got to know about Shyju and his family. He is a gentleman and we loved our time with him.
Both drivers are a credit to Citrus and they really did make a difference to the overall enjoyment of our trip.
We look forward to booking again with Citrus, thanks for a fabulous holiday.

Our holiday to Southern India with Citrus exceeded our expectations. The programme was well planned and our diver, Anthony, ensured that we knew what was happening and that we had some flexibility in timings. The hotels were well chosen and the variety of activities was excellent.

Nightmare in Indonesia

Travelling to Indonesia with Citrus was one of the worst holidays I have experienced. It was badly organised, and not thought out.
After a very long flight we were presented with one room not two as booked! Although this was rectified Citrus had to change one of our hotels as two rooms were not available.
Day 2 collected 5.00am for a non existent flight. Lost half a day at airport.
Citrus seems to be shy about communicating with clients.
We had travelled with Citrus before and had a lovely holiday but after this experience never again.

Another wonderful Citrus holiday!

Just back from another brilliant Citrus holiday.
We did the South India Odyssey tour and it exceeded our expectations. We were met at Bengaluru airport by our driver, Kannan.
Throughout the whole trip he was unfailingly cheerful, punctual and a careful and safe driver. He made sure that everything on the itinerary was included and even found a couple of extra interesting places for us to see.
We were a bit disappointed by the commercialism in Cochin, particularly around the fishing nets and felt that the hotel could have been better located although we did enjoy the pool there.
Highlights were Wayanad Wild and the houseboat. The final three days unwinding at Isola Di Coco in Poovar were perfect.
A relaxing massage and lovely backwater boat ride were included but undoubtedly the best thing was the outdoor shower room. Will never forget how it felt to look up at the kites in the morning and the stars at night.
Once again thanks to all for looking after us so well and of course a special mention to Kannan who made it all run so smoothly

Golden Triangle and Southern India tour

We recently enjoyed a 17 day holiday in India booked through Citrus Holidays. My wife really wanted to go but I wasn't so sure if I'd enjoy the experience and was a little uneasy before we left. How wrong could I be? We have now visited 37 countries and I can safely say that India is our favourite! Our wonderful time was completely taken care of by Citrus who looked after us throughout delivering everything that they said that they would in the description on their website and in the holiday documents sent through prior to our travel. Both of our chauffeurs were exceptional. Misrah in Northern India collected us at Delhi Airport and from that moment onwards was there on the dot everyday at the time that he said that he would. Driving in India is an art form not to be attempted by Europeans. And whilst it can be described as frightening we felt completely safe in Misrah hands from Delhi to Jaipur, from Jaipur to Agra and then back to Delhi. We then flew down to Cochin and there waiting where we were told was our next chauffeur Sreejith. Nothing was too much trouble for Sreejith, going out of his way to look after us, even arranging for our passports (which we had left at the previous hotel) to be delivered to us which was a 4 hour bus journey each way. Every hotel that we stayed in wouldn't have been out of place in a European city. The food was fantastic and the range and breath of excursions and experiences were outstanding. Reading the blurb in England you tend to think "this is too good to be true" but not so. Citrus delivered everything that they said they would and then some. All I can say is that I highly, highly recommend them for your holiday and we will definitely be using them again

top marks for Nancy at citrus

Nancy at citrus was very helpful. She took plenty of time to deal with all my questions and answer them very thoroughly.
We were one of those that were affected by Thomas Cook and she then arranged for alternative travel and again it was perfect.
Would certainly use citrus again for a reasonably priced holiday as she certainly knew what she was talking about

Had a great experience booking with…

Had a great experience booking with Mike /Mukesh and I prefer to use his real indian name . Shouldn’t have to change your name to satisfy racist people in my opinion. You can deliver a service and should be proud of your Indian name And heritage . I can’t see people in the UK change there names to Indian names if they had to take calls from Indian customers.

But great service from Mukesh all round

CITRUS SARDINIA HOLIDAY

We have just returned from our Citrus holiday in Sardinia. The whole trip was excellent right from booking, flights, transfers and accommodation. This was our third Citrus Holiday and all have been excellent and great value. We have booked to travel to Nepal and India next year with Citrus as their personal service is second to none. Would not have any hesitation in recommending Citrus Holidays.
