Non-existent customer service

Bought a return ticket from EDI airport to Glasgow and while on the bus I realised that it expires 3 days before my return journey (only a 28 days and not a month) . At the destination, the driver disappears (off shift apparently) and I immediately go to the onsite office in Killermonst St..

Staff member has an attitude that I am the stupid one for not querying the validity at the time of purchase. She was pleasant enough but had that condescending manner and adamant that there is no redress here and it's all my fault.

Followed up with a complaint via e-mail but I get the same person I spoke to in the office and the same "all your own fault".

Such a shame there is no other bus company on this route because it would not be difficult to outshine the CityLink bus company.

Impossible to book a ticket-no…

Impossible to book a ticket-no timetable visible, unable to speak to anyone in Citylink unless via email. Only positive is that staff replied quickly to emails, but unless you can have an actual conversation things can get lost in translation. Advised to book via Facebook or Twitter-what are you supposed to do if you are on neither! Useless website, very frustrating experience.

900 Glasgow to Edinburgh- left stranded by Citylink!

Return bus booked for 7.30pm from Edinburgh Corstorphine Rd back to Glasgow. Rugby was on and all buses passing were 'full' despite some vacant seat visible to everyone waiting at the stop
Citylink happy to take booking from passengers but not provide service.
Eventually got taxi to Princess St and was initially refused boarding on the 10.30pm (900 bus) because my ticket was for the 7.30pm service! Absolute joke.

Poor driver attitude to…

Bought return ticket Stirling to Glasgow and before purchase specifically asked if we could use it next day to return to Stirling. Driver said no problem. £14.50.

Following day got on city link bus at Buchanan street bus station when driver stated ticket was not valid could only be used in m8 service and not 909. Told us to find inspector. No time to do this as us was due to leave. Had to purchase another ticket at a cost of £9.30.

Driver was actually rude. Reason I got bus was it works out cheaper than train.

Appalling service.

I had to buy ticket twice

I purchased my ticket online, and show it to the driver but he didn't accept it, he wanted email conformation. Unfortunately, I didn't receive email for like 15-20 minutes, and by that time I had to be on the bus, so I was forced to buy the ticket again (!!) on board. I received email on the bus, however, the driver told me I can't get any refund. It is ridiculous, I hopefully don't have to use their service ever again.

We had a booked e-ticket from citylink website, the driver refused to accept the ticket displayed on our mobile device and forced us to puchase a new ticket for the same trip. The caim to citylink customer service ended in a endless e-mail exchange.

Uncalled for and unnecessary rudeness

Yesterday, my wife and I entered the Citylink Eyre Square office at 5:23 and the ticket agent shouted at us to wait outside because there were too many people in the inside queue. We waited on the sidewalk with another man, and after he entered and approached the desk for his turn, we re-entered the office at 5:29. The ticket agent got up from her desk and said that she was sorry but the office closes at 5:30. At first I thought she was joking but she proceeded to escort us to the door. At that point there was NO ONE in line behind us. So…if you would like to experience an unpleasant encounter, by all means travel to the Eyre Square office and deal with this rudeness. Or, you could order tickets online and spare yourself from dealing with this mess.

Cooked or Frozen?

Although buses are mostly on time the comfort is the abandoned word for city link. Traveling on route X99 on 3 hours trip between Wick and Inverness is a gamble, because once the bus is a furnace and you hate every moment or on another trip its a freezer and you also hate every moment. The driver was not responding to request for switching the heating on. Its £23.00 for one way trip where you can enjoy either being cooked or frozen. Good luck!

Disabled man stranded

I am 68 years old, paraplegic and in a power wheelchair. My wife and I decided to go to Glasgow from Harthill, the first time we had ever attempted this journey. At Harthill there as some problem removing a rear seat to fit me and my wheelchair but the driver was brilliant and managed it.
After a great day out in Glasgow we returned to Buchanan St bus station, I got on the bus before a supervisor came along and announced that I had to get off because my wheelchair was too big. He and his invisible measuring tape were insistent and I had to get off. Understandably, my wife was very distressed and in tears.
I persuaded her to get the bus back to Harthill and come back to pick me up.
Citilink stranded a 68 year old paraplegic man in Glasgow after transporting me there!!!!!!!

Anyway, I went to Queen street station and the staff there were very nice and got me on to a train to Bathgate and arranged for a ramp to get me off the train there.

Citilink website woeful

I tried to buy a return ticket on the new Citilink website yesterday. It was impossible. It was so simple with the old website. They’ve tried to update making it slick, and shiny new. They seem to have forgotten practicality.

Minus 5 stars.

City Link say they have "covid protocols in place"; they don't. Driver's don't wear masks and don't ask passengers to wear masks. I was travelling for a job interview that requires a clean LFT and spent the whole 3 hour trip bricking it I was going to get infected. There's no "ventilation" like they advertise, the air con doesn't even work.

I know it's not really City Link's fault but I could've done without the 4 maskless children in their late 20's coughing, talking loud AF and diving into the toilets literally every 2 minutes to vape and/or do coke. Even with a mask on I was gagging on the stink of strawberry vape fluid and the half bottle of wish.com aftershave they were unloading every 90 seconds.

I literally sat on that bus and went "this is the last time I ever use public transport" and I plan on that being the case. Nothing good to say; avoid like the plague.

Worst service possible

Yesterday, 11/11/2021 We wanted to go to loch ness from Inverness so we waited at the buss stop the line 919(citylink) has to stop before leaving the city. It was programmed to be there at 11:00, it appeared 15 minutes later and didn't stop even when we were running behind it.

Later, we went to Inverness buss station where the line start, just to be sure and not loose the next bus because we had a reservation at 2pm. When we asked to the lady who sells tickets in the station if we could book two tickets for the 12pm bus (line 17, not citylink), she told us that the line was not working that day so we sould book tickets to the citylink 1pm bus because it was the only that could take us to the loch ness before 2pm, so they charged us £11.

We were tired so we waited in the station to rest and we were surprised at 12pm when we saw the line 17 bus ready to take us for only £6.70 paying in the bus. We took that bus because we didn't want to go late.

Today, the next day, I politely asked them for a refund because it was their mistake but the manager apeared and quite rude told me that they could not refund because it was too late because we had to do it before the time the bus left in the reservation. Finally, when I understood that it was impossible to discuss with her i decided to leave and put a bad review so people won't fell im this trick, I said goodbye and they stared at me with angry faces like I was doing somethimg wrong.

Honestly, We feel bad for loosing our money, but we feel worse how they treated us. We are tourists, not money sacks that you can take whatever you want because we are lesser beings. We have feelings, have some empathy.

How can a major transport hub NOT have any up to date info on arrivals

Had to collect my 88 year old in-laws from Buchanan street bus station they were travelling from Inverness. 20mins after the arrival time with no sign of bus I went to city link travel centre, the ladies were very nice and went out of their way to find out where the bus was. It had broken down and they were delayed but expected one hour after original arrival time. I waited for the hour and then approached an inspector to ask if there was any update. He was dismissive and told me they would have already arrived as all the passengers had been picked up and had already arrived at station. When I said they certainly had not arrived at the station he stopped another man wearing a Parks of Hamilton fleece who said all the passengers had been brought to the station. I said that could not be the case as my in-laws are 88 and would if I had somehow missed them be waiting and they were not in the station, he said “ well phone them” i explained they don’t have a mobile and he said “ don’t like your attitude” and walked away. I asked the inspector what I should do as they were very elderly and he said you will just have to wait for the next bus and hope they are on it. Unbelievable that a major transport hub have no information regarding arrivals and have no interest in elderly passengers or inclination to assist in finding out where their bus was and when they would arrive. Thankfully they arrived approx 15 mins later , they had to change buses twice and not one city link employee assisted in moving their luggage from one bus to another and then another. Kindness / empathy towards two struggling 88 year olds to move luggage in pouring rain was very sadly missing. Attitude of the inspector and man in Parks of Hamilton fleece at Buchanan ST who could see I was upset as I did not know where my elderly relatives where and when I could expect them to arrive was awfull and unsympathetic.
