Overpriced
Enjoyed the stay at the CrazyBear was a nice room very unique can’t really complain as had no issues,
Very expensive for what’s included,
Rude, appalling and prejudice …
If there was a minus 5 option these guys would score it!! Totally shocking customer service. I have just called to make a booking using a voucher. The agent informed me of many restriction which were not in the fine print of the voucher (screen shots to prove) and suggested to me that I ‘gift on’ and maybe consider paying full price for the occasion. The absolutely most condescending, rude, unprofessional experience.
Im sorry the crazy bear group that some people visit you and use a voucher to redeem a little bit of money off.... if you do consider us to be ‘rif-raff’ and have a perception that we are unworthy to attend your establishments then don’t sell vouchers on groupon and wowcher .... and better still, consider not judging people in social classes.
To anyone considering - avoid like the plague.
Most expensive bottle of water!
Received a gift (voucher) from daughter for afternoon tea in Stadhampton Oxon, staff were all welcoming & friendly, food was lovely and enjoyable. Then we received our bill....which surprised me as didn’t think we had any extras, we got a bill for £14......£5 for A BOTTLE OF WATER, then the rest was service charge, f cheek of it, imagine if I hadn’t took my wallet with me? £5 for a bottle of WATER...so be aware if anyone gives you a voucher for similar. As stated food was lovely, nice setting etc. But be aware of the conning extras you’ll be charged, I didn’t ask for water, so presumed it was free, how wrong I was, no wonder there is so many negative feedbacks left, I won’t be going back there!!
Booking cancelled and no refund!
Booked a overnight package with dinner for my dad for his wifes 50th birthday in November, however due to COVID/lockdown the hotel had to cancel the booking. They are now saying that the booking will not be refunded and we have to stay on another date. The cancellation policy only refers to us cancelling, which we have not. We have had to arrange other birthday arrangements at additional costs and we have informed the manager we do not want to rebook as the occasion has passed. The Manager is point blank refusing any refund and keeps sending us the cancellation policy which is only relevant if we had cancelled. Shocking customer service in these times and we will take the matter further.
Afternoon tea
Afternoon tea- food and drink great. Table filthy, whole place needs a deep clean. Toilets grubby and masking tape on the door.
Do not recommend and would not go there ever again
The worst experience in a hotel EVER
Booked this for our anniversary, and what a mistake that was.
First and foremost, don't be fooled by the glossy website. Those pictures must of been taken years ago because its very tired looking now.
The big red bus is a former shadow of what it once looked like driving around London. Its a dark, faded red, more like oxide colour and the windows are falling out. Alarms should of started ringing for us when we entered the car park and see it. There is also a wooden character in the garden that I leaned up against for a picture and it wobbled so much, I thought it was going to fall to pieces.
The gardens aren't much better, overgrown and looked unkept.
Such as shame because this was probably very nice a few years ago.
By looking at the website you would definitely say quirky and chic...….. Now its just Shabby.
Don't think you will get a lovely room with copper bath and funky design, all different they say. They are all different, I can vouch for that, and different from the website.
For the price I paid, I was expecting a nice quirky room, instead we got a box room, that was less than 1.2 metres wide, leading to a bed in the corner that was only accessible from one side. It touched the wall top and bottom, and was pushed against the wall under the window. A truly shocking, claustrophobic room.
I tried to have a shower, but just got a small spit of water from the hot tap that was warm, didn't need the cold on.
It was at this point that we packed, went back to the darkened bus and checked out.
The two ladies said sorry and pretended to be concerned but clearly wasn't. They were so patronising and done nothing to try and make amends, these people just want your money and nothing else.
The general manager appeared and told us to Get Out..... charming fella.
We spent over £350 for a meal, bed and breakfast and never had any of it. It was my choice to leave, but there was no way I could of slept in that room and I wasn't prepared to give them any more money for their extortionate drink prices.
This company is a complete rip off, save your money and go elsewhere to avoid disappointment..
DO NOT BOOK WITH THE CRAZY BEAR THEY…
DO NOT BOOK WITH THE CRAZY BEAR THEY DOUBLE BOOK YOU,THEN TRY & RIP YOU OFF FOR YOUR MONEY THE STAFF IN RESERVATIONS Roxi & Sonia are RUDE,Condescending & vile the general manager Chris Hanks was sarcastic, unhelpful & also condescending they took my money nearly £200 for a 1 night stay & meal a birthday treat for myself after being a customer in the restaurant for many years I had always wanted to stay there, they then told me 2 days after they had taken my money that they had double booked me & gave me no alternatives for that night which was unbelievable considering it was just a Tuesday night, I asked for a refund but was told they were too busy to email the merchant who I had booked it through ! So it took me 9 hours of very upsetting & stressful phone calls & with Roxi & Sonia in Reservations, I only finally got my money back after a few days & that's only because I faught for it & finally spoke to someone decent there who contacted the merchant for me , I made a complaint to Chris Hanks the supposed general manager who sent me 2 very sarcastic emails with no offer of another room for my birthday or any kind of compensation at all , his attitude was shocking too especially after I have spent hundreds of pounds there over the years so no customer loyalty at all I definitely would not recommend the crazy bear in Beaconsfield , save your money for somewhere where the staff have manners & class & a proper booking system
Crazy Bear Hotel, Beaconsfield -DISAPPOINTING!
Crazy Bear Hotel, Beaconsfield -DISAPPOINTING!
I booked a stay for my partners Birthday after hearing so much about the Hotel, but we were disappointed to say the least.
We contacted the Hotel a week prior to our stay and we were informed that our trip was cancelled due to the outbreak of Covid-19 as the Hotel were forced to close their facilities. We had requested a refund as it didn’t look as though we were going to be able to attend for the foreseeable future, however my refund was declined and we were offered until November to re-schedule our stay.
We decided to contact the General Manager who informed us that they are struggling to pay staff and a lot of businesses will stuffer as a result of the virus. With this in mind, we were not going to re-schedule our stay with no guarantee the Hotel will still be operating.
Legally the business has no right to withhold money from a customer as our trip was cancelled from no fault of our own. Consequently, we have been left with no choice but to take further action.
We would have considered re-booking our stay for another occasion, had we been offered a refund.
Despite the traction on social media, I strongly urge you not to book with this company.
Disappointing, Disgraceful & Disastrous.
Review of The Crazy Bear Hotel - Beaconsfield
MUST READ - DO NOT BOOK!!!
What an experience, but not how you would EXPECT!
My partner and I were due to spend a romantic evening at this supposedly fabulous hotel, with 'extraordinary customer service', on the 29th March 2020. Little did we know this would be the worst decision that we were to make.
As i am sure you are all aware, Covid-19 is sweeping the nation and bringing most service providers to a halt, including THIS HOTEL. Whereby, THIS HOTEL had actually closed for business, indefinitely. So with that in mind my partner and I requested a refund as this trip was actually for a birthday celebration. Therefore meaning that our meant to be trip was made to be redundant. After contacting the hotel we were left completely; flabbergasted, distraught and crestfallen, that they were only going to be offering a reschedule service. After investigating further, we realised that the Hotel is under an obligation to offer a full refund in the scenario that the Hotel must close. As you can tell by this review, this was not offered and in fact typifies the woeful nature of how this business is run.
After expressing our desire to claim a refund for our stay, we were informed by the General Manager, that the company are unable to grant a refund as they stated 'many companies will be closing their doors as a result of this crisis' and that Crazy Bear 'are trying to find ways to pay their staff'. As you can imagine this raises many alarm bells in most customers minds, will the company still be trading when this crisis is over? In addition to rub salt in the wounds - they went on to say that 'this decision is final' when they have no obligation to keep money from the customer when they cannot offer the service that was purchased. This message was passed down from the Director's of the company and solely represents everything that this nasty business stands for.
After explaining thoroughly that the business was not in it's lawful right to retain our hard earned money, the Hotel kept a firm stance in place to keep our money and continued to push us towards rescheduling our stay. Of course we said no and maintained the fact that we want our money back in full.
In conclusion, my partner and I would have been happy to re-book and return to Crazy Bear at a later date, had we been offered a refund as this would have displayed compassion and sympathy towards their customers as well as the situation at hand. However, this has only outlined their true colours and showed how tragic their aftercare, customer service and morals are.
My partner and I, will certainly not be booking with this hotel again, we advise all that are in the same scenario as us to consider looking into taking further action, issuing proceedings and not simply allowing this horrific hotel to keep what is not rightfully theirs.
Crazy Bear Beaconsfield - over hyped
Groupon purchase - I wanted to stay at the Beaconsfield venue for a while back, and went for it at a discounted price. It’s not easy to find, unless you spot the “Big Bear” - outside. We were greeted by a lovely lady, who was extremely good at her job.!!!!(and she did stand out from the rest). It was very quiet, which was very relaxing for us both. Not sure I would of felt the same if it was busy.. it did the job. £300 for the night. ??? Mmmm overpriced -
NOT AS ADVERTISED.DIRTY COLD SMELLY
We stayed on valentine's it was awful in comparison to the photos online. The room we stayed in was not even on their website.
It was actually a walk down the road to a cottage not what we booked,we booked a superior ROOM this was extremely far off that. reception did say they had alot of complaints about the room.
No one was their to help walk down the road to kelp with the luggage for the price I would expect that.
The place was in such a state me and my partner were shocked.
The smell was awful, musty moldy and had to wash my clothes 3 times to get the smell out.
You have to walk up a tiny stair case with no light and nothing to hold to till you enter a small dark dingey smelly room.
The rooms carpets were filthy and had burn Marks on them, this was not highlighted at checkout,I highlighted that and was met with "yer they are burn marks".
We asked to be moved there reply was just NO REFUND.we asked to move so I found this a strange reply
They wouldn't and didnt move us or do anything to resolve issues we highlighted.
I have emailed several times and no response.
This hotel has a no can do attitude.
I am appalled I spent £469 for such and inadequate room
Dont waste your money spend a bit more and stay at the shard.
Boxing day lunch Steadhampton.
Boxing day lunch Steadhampton.
limited set menu with too many fish dishes and two out of six main dishes requiring a supplement and not explaind well at the time of booking.
Waitress who seemed unaware of what was on offer. Tasty food but a little amature and overpriced considering you pay extra for vegetables, that always annoys me that a main course is not served with a selection of seasonal veg. Sweets looked pre made purchased frozen, so overall i fell it could be better for the money.
Im an old school chef and trained at some of the best hotels and restaurants in the world. Im not expecting maxims de paris, just good value for money that makes me want to return.
Id be interested to see what the Thai restaurant is like?
Not a welcoming atmosphere. Overpriced and aloof staff.
I went in September for drinks for my Goddaughters 21st. The decor was really in your face but I liked the Moroccan room. Granted it was a Wednesday, but there was Little to no atmosphere, The staff ranged from being aloof to just serving with no conversation/personality. However, What made it 10 times worse was how much the drinks were.!?! I bought a small bottle of regular beer (no glass), one Pornstar cocktail and one glass of tap water with a splash of lime cordial.......get ready.......nearly £25!!!! Could not wait to get out of there. I would steer clear! I had heard so much about this place, as well. Never again!
Absolutely disgusting service- FITZROVIA BRANCH
Absolutely disgusting service! Prices are completely misleading as well as extortionate!
Waiter poured hot tea down my back and the manager offered nothing but constant platitudes for my burnt back. All I got was an ice pack!! And an offer to call the ambulance as if I couldn’t call them myself if I needed one! Absolutely ridiculous, the manager even had the nerve to say it was my fault! Never again! Waste of time and money! It was my sisters birthday and they cut a piece, A PIECE of an apple and stuck a candle in it! Stingy and distasteful experience!
Beaconsfield Afternoon Tea Experience
Visited Crazy Bear Beaconsfield for a long awaited ana greatly anticipated Afternoon Tea with my girlfriends today... what an anticlimax! Food was a real let down..presented as a shared platter for two with 5 sandwiches of various tasteless fillings, 4 rock hard scones and 6 miniature cakes. I’ve been to a few a Afternoon Teas now at various high profile places so I was expecting to be wowed by the hype of Crazy Bear, which failed on every level.
Half way through Tea, I called over, who I now understand was the Assistant Manager, to ask how 2 adults can share 5 sandwiches and 6 mi I cakes. Whet happens if both wanted the same minuscule cake, for example. He apparently went to check with the kitchen on portion size. Am still waiting for his response.
The bathrooms were unkept and another unpleasant experience with one patron recording her partner urinating in the urinal having perched herself in between the shared wash basins for male/female users. This promptly followed by the statement asking him for to be naughty with her between the wash basin fountain... not at all appropriate for the 7 and 8 year old girls in the ladies bathroom to hear and witness!
Hot drinks were luke warm; Staff very glam but service unacceptable. By all means go experience an overpriced, underwhelming offering of food made on site but don’t be surprised to be left feeling unfulfilled and robbed of what should be an amazing experience!
Horrible customer service
I booked afternoon tea 10 days ago with the restaurant over the phone to celebrate mothers’ day with my mother in law and sister in laws. When I arrived at noon, I was shocked to know they didn’t have my booking. If I didn’t phone them first then bought my voucher on groupon, I wouldn’t book 12pm slot for afternoon tea. The manager and receptionist were cold and unhelpful at all. Apart from keeping accusing me for the mistake, we didn’t see any gesture to help the customer to solve the problem nor show any emphathy. 5 of us including a little girl were waiting in limbo. They kept saying I didn’t book it. I should have asked my mobile phone provider to send the record! The manager said at the end “if you would like to pay the full price, I might have vacancy at 4pm.” Understand the restaurant is busy and fully booked but it’s not the reason to treat your customer like this. Or maybe because we came with a half price deal from groupon not the full price paying customers. That’s why they treated us like this. We’ve been to many other places nearby where the manager and staff are warm, friendly, helpful and quick to response and not snobbish at all. We were shocked by how unprofessional the customer service is at such a posh restaurant. We used to go there a lot and used to be on their membership programme. But this appallingly bad experience made us to decide never patronise them again.
18th Gift
Had a brilliant time in Beaconsfield location, it was a present for me and daughter to have massages, cocktails, dinner and a nights stay. They made the evening very special and the food was amazing. Great staff and very cool place to go.
Me and my wife saved all our money to…
Me and my wife saved all our money to stay here and experience the New Year’s Eve here , it was a complete let down . My wife as just lost a family member through cancer and thought this would be be a good night for her we haven’t treated ourselves to a experience like this ever .
First of all there was no where to sit then when we did find a place to sit it was cramped so we decided to sit out side , we got talking to another couple out there so we just spent most of the night there , when it was nearly ready for the countdown we got our drinks to walk back in side which the bouncer called us to the side and asked us to leave we was all very shocked by this we asked why and they said the lady at the bar complain that I was rude to her while she was serving me !
So we left but we was very upset by this they did not offer us any refund at all ,
Later that night we was loud in our room because we was still so shocked and angry so we got removed from the hotel . We have to spend the rest of the night in our car as we didn’t have nowhere to go and sleep the management of this hotel is disgusting . This had ruin our new year and we are gutted we wasted all our money to stay there

Unbelievably rude..
We'd stayed at Crazy Bear Beaconsfield last year and found it be be lovely. I've just called the Stadhampton branch to enquire about a reservation and have never spoken to someone so rude. I actually called back to see if there had just been some misunderstanding, but they were actually worse!
The person on reception, Alex, told me on each occasion that there were no rooms available, but on the second call I had their site open and said that I could see availability. She replied 'oh, ok, yes' and then tried to get me off of the call as quickly as possible.
It's no wonder they're getting such awful reviews, by charging such high prices for dire service.
