Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 60 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently received demands for payments related to debts they did not owe, often for utility accounts they had no connection to or for amounts already settled, causing significant confusion and distress. The customer service and contact process was also challenging, with staff often described as unhelpful, unprofessional, and rude. However, some customers noted instances where staff were helpful in resolving issues, with specific individuals praised for assistance in clearing records or removing charges. Despite these positive interactions, many consumers continued to receive persistent communications regarding disputed debts, even after providing proof of non-liability.

SCUM!

They contacted us allegedly collecting for Elavon.
Told them the debt is the subject of a formal complaint being dealt with by their European Customer Services Team and that I did not want any further contact form them.
Sent them a message on their website system stating that we should not be contacted would levy an adminstration fee if they contacted us again.
Had a message to contact the again.
Here goes, invoice on the way. And if they don't pay it, I will employ a debt collection agency or just go straight to court.
They are typical bottom feeding, ambulance chasing scum that the world would be better off without!

Fraud company.

Fraud company.

I've raised complaint with them and explained that I do not owe anything to their client amd have also shared evidence. However they did nothing and sent another letter stating that if I do not make payment, I will also have to pay the solicitor charges.
Pathetic company with full of fraud rules and forceful tactics to take payment even though you do not owe anything.

Great service

Great service. The team was extremely patient and attentive throughout the entire process, addressing all of my concerns with care. Moreover, the speed at which they resolved the issue exceeded my expectations. Their prompt and efficient service made the whole experience stress-free.

I received a letter from credit style…

I received a letter from credit style claiming I owe Harvey's Water Softener over £500. I bought a water softener from Harvey's 3 years ago where payments was made in installments, a direct debit they set up which had been paid. I have since then had engineers in to fix issues with the softner and have bought salt from them many times.

I called Harvey's they claim the letter is legit but they made errors on names and amounts. This was shocking to hear. I then receive an email that anyone can conclude as a scam email as the fonts kept changing and they provided bank details with a disclaimer that UK banks do not recognise this as a company as its American.

I've been at my wits end trying to figure out whether all this is a scam or not. I called Harvey's again about this email which they claim is legit.

The stress it's caused has been horrible. I called Credit Style to complain the person on the other end was not very sympathetic but actually laughed at me when I was trying to explain the issue I.e. why do I owe Harvey's anything when I bought my purchase 3 years ago and why is this gone to a debt collecting company. And I certainly did not owe them £500.

I can see a lot of other people here in the same situation so would be good if we put a complaint in as this sort of behaviour is unacceptable.

Got a very similar letter to the other…

Got a very similar letter to the other chap who was sent a letter regarding the Harvey water softeners trail. In my case the water Softeners was installed in NOV 2019 and removed in JAN 2020. The only reason it was removed was because it actually damaged my flooring in my new house, damaged my kitchen and damaged my dinning table so I immediately told Harvey to remove it as it was causing more harm than good. Even though I paid everything I received a letter in the post saying I "owe them £2 grand" on the 4th of OCT 2024 which seems very very odd considering its been over 4 years since I had it and its only now they are sending me a letter regarding "debt"

Still got all the messages and pictures of the damage so I figured this was some sort of scam. I have got in touch with Harvey to double check and everything is fine on my end. I don't owe anything and even the customer support was telling me thats just stupid and ridiculous.

Very bad and stupid company. How are you guys gonna scam people in this climate we are living in. I highly suggest people GOOGLE the debt company before making any payments to see what other people are saying and not pay them first. I don't know why companies like this exist and how they can get anyway with scamming good people. The GOV should do something about it.

I have already filed and reported this company to the fraud prevention act and police so hopefully other people do not get scammed in paying and I hope they get shut down asap so other vulnerable people do not get scammed out of their hard earned money.

For you guys, I'm glad I did my research before hand. I have no issues if you take me to court for the "unpaid debt". The company itself Harvey told me I have cleared all my funds and I also have evidence to prove that the water softener damaged my property so in this case I should be filing a claim for damages to my property. Don't try scam me or others, have some values and if you need money so badly to the point where you are creating fake companies and scamming people, just claim benefits mate.
Don't do this idiotic behaviour.

They tried to scam me out of thousands

Contacted me about a brief contract I had but cancelled within 30 days, and I cancelled it within the give time frame. This was two years ago. Today this company contacted me about trying to collect the debt which is false and a lie.

Contacted me years after I was a Water Softeners client

Credit Style Limited wrote an email to me years after I was a customer of Harvey Water Softeners, briefly, under a trial with Harvey Water Softeners which I ended during the trial period, demanding a large amount of money. I never owed any money to anyone.

British gas have confirmed its a scam

I had pre payment meters with Peoples energy. Received a demand for almost £400 which obviously I did not owe. Sent proof, letters etc. - all ignored. Had to get my MP & current energy provider involved. Kieron at credit style is barely able to read or write. I would advise anyone receiving bills from them not to pay but to report to trading standards.
Your response is laughable - after literally MONTHS of attempting to contact you via all methods & being ignored you now say your team are keen to assist me?! I would hardly have to resort to getting my MP & British Gas involved if you hadn't ignored me!

Seems like a scam

I've had a letter from this company this morning saying I owe £53. I tried calling them via the number on the letter 03300450650 but it doesn't connect so it's not their number? I also tried the online form on Credit Styles website and the Credit Style reference isn't recognised either.
So you can't contact them but there's internet banking information on the back of the letter - they just want you to hand over money without asking questions

Review for clients - lacks professionalism and integrity.

Across every encounter I have had, Credit Style lacks professionalism and integrity. There is a complete disconnect between the slick promises of the website and the actual delivery on the ground. If you are a ‘customer’ of this outfit, then you will have little choice about engaging with them, however, as a client you do. Please take a read and see if you think Credit Style represents your interests and reflects your values.

I had a contract for installation work with a company that went into administration (Everest) leaving me with a half finished job, but with the bulk of the money paid. The small “payment on completion” to cover the warranty remained outstanding but the cost to me to complete the work was substantially greater than that, and did not include the warranty. My details were passed to Credit Style by the company who bought out some of the assets (Anglian) who, presumably, wanted to make a quick buck out of the victims of the company collapse (Anglian’s antics were recently featured on the BBC Watchdog programme). The Credit Style website calls this a Ledger Clean Up Campaign. The website explains that, in this case “The approach we adopt during any sales ledger clean-up process is meticulously planned in full knowledge that certain cases may have legitimate queries which may not have been identified. As such, the actual approach is commenced extremely gently in order to remove the barriers to payment and gain the support of the customer.” The “extremely gently” approach was to threaten me with a County Court Judgement and falsely claim that I had not responded to a previous letter which had never actually been sent. I complained, but got no response, so made a Subject Access Request. This was incomplete and falsely claimed to have sent an entirely different letter. This has now been referred to the Information Commissioner’s Office as my complaint at the time was not responded to.

Despite me asking that everything be dealt with via email and not telephone, my phone company has reported at least one silent message since I made that request. I would consider that to be harassment.

I have had an email which states that my account is being referred back to the client (Anglian) because I disputed it, that was ten weeks ago despite the web site saying “this process will take between 7 to 10 working days” and I have had no response to a reminder. In fact, responses generally are pretty poor. The Consumer Credit sourcebook of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) section 7.14.3 says the response must be “timely”. Incidentally, direct emails to addresses on correspondence are blocked by Barracuda software, the only way is to use the tortuous Umbraco Forms package within the site which produces a receipt, so I know which messages have been received. This includes all the complaints I have sent over a number of months. The Credit Style website say complaints are responded to within 3 working days, not true. The constant unresponsive behaviour when the company has made threats over money that they have been unable to prove I owe is, at best, unprofessional.

These are not all the issues I have had, there are other significant ones, but are enough to justify my complaint to the Financial Conduct Authority.

If Credit Style reply at all to a negative review, it is to ask people to phone or engage via Trustpilot, however, if what I have written is unusual, it will be pretty easy to find my account and contact me directly with a response in writing. I have no reason to engage further with Credit Style, unless it is to receive an apology, but will be engaging with the FCA with these issues and others which I have not included here.

UPDATE: Well, as predicted, all Credit Style did was ask me to engage via Trustpilot. Having the client name, campaign name and reference to specific complaints was not enough, presumably because these things are so common in the organisation. I passed my details back on 2/9/2024. The Creditstyle website says “When a customer expresses dissatisfaction, the colleague who receives the communication tries to resolve it immediately where possible on the day of receipt. Where immediate resolution is not possible, the expression of dissatisfaction is escalated to an appropriate subject matter expert or manager who should try to resolve the matter without the need for the formal complaints process within 3 days. In cases where neither the recipient nor the subject matter expert or manager can resolve the matter, the complaint is escalated to the Complaints Team, who will issue an acknowledgment of the complaint within one working day.” So far, no response at all.

UPDATE: A reply after 4 weeks in which they claim to have sent a letter to me 6 weeks before they opened the account - you couldn't make it up!

Received numerous letters from CST…

Received numerous letters from CST claiming I owe £900 for a parking fine dated 2 years ago which I paid when original letter came though, tried calling multiple times to be told a member of their legal team would contact me, to which they never did, I responded to every letter sent to me to which they haven’t acknowledged and continue to increase the cost of the ‘fine’ regardless of my numerous attempts to contact them to resolve this matter - appalling, unreliable, scare mongering company

British Gas

After leaving British Gas( on good terms) 2 years ago and having them worked out they owed me money, 2 years later I apparently owe them money now!! I've tried to get guidance from a solicitor for 3 weeks now with no assistance. Spoke to Shaun Daley yesterday from CST Law. I imagine it can't be the easiest of jobs at times but Shaun was very polite, helpful professional & understanding throughout. He managed to put my mind at ease very quickly and offered guidance on next steps etc. A thoroughly pleasant guy with a fantastic attitude, a real credit to his manager and wider team.

Diabolical company

Diabolical company. Never heard back. Tried to contact numerous times. Website communication. Overpayment of wages 2 months later. Wanted to set a payment plan. Moved address. Had 2 letters in 2 years and then made a payment last June through banking. Didn't even take off balance. Tried to contact. Impossible. January again hit with a ccj. Never received paperwork as moved. Parents address. Reside on holiday park but address. Now being rented. got a whole lot of letters from March unopened. And bailiffs continuously gone round. Not seen letters until last week literally. A 600 debt to now 1795. I'd understand as a debt collection company with continuous calls emails and trying. You didn't even do that..you sent a couple letters out. Made a payment which didn't even reflect on account. Impossible to get hold to resolve. Then send out paperwork to address how about do your research contact. Find a contact number email. Dialogical. Got dismissed on mental health grounds and anxiety and then 2 months later got paid. Apparently overpayment. Moved address. As a 'debt company' 1 year of debt and all this. Gone to double embarrassing company. Cost of living and times. How are you not shut down haha. 92 percent 1 star reviews. Absolute shambles keep f***cking up lives. Pathetic. If your gonna debt collect do it properly.. not send a couple letters. Then spring a ccj and not even get relieved without finding out new address. Or actually contacting your clients personally.

You'll soon be shut down

Contacting Credit Style - Impossible!

I have tried to call the number on the letter received, which is actually different from the number advertised on the website. I have been waiting for over an hour and still on hold.

In the meantime, I tried to contact through the website, but the system did not recognise the credit style reference number, even though it is the one noted on the letter.

I tried to search for an email address but to no avail. So, I have no way to contact you to dispute the letter received about a incorrect debt applied.

Can you please advise how I may speak to someone so that this matter can be resolved?

Keep calling and sending texts. Trying to extortionate money from me for a Dissolved Ltd company. Valda Energy, also a scam company. This should be made illegal for a company to purchase a debt and then harass people for money that's not actually owed.

Everest whom I have written a review…

Everest whom I have previously written a review on went into liquidation. Credit Style whom I have never heard of,seems to have been given the responsibility to try and collect drain, milk as much money from Everest customers as much possible without looking into actual situations. Furthermore Creditstyle Ltd its customer support, clearly located abroad is terrible, rude and lack human empathy. They should be renamed Sharks as their new name! Customer support is virtually none! I am representing my parents and I am livid beyond words. I tried calling Credit style three times through several days, twice left my number to be called back. Finally on my third call on the third day, some guy finally returned my call, clearly he had a prepared speech and was more eager for me to stop talking and for me to let him tell me to pay up!!!! The fact is that it is not that straight forward. I am a cancer patient trying to help my parents due to the incompetence of Everest now Anglian windows, both do not wish to take any responsibility. My parents are left with damaged curtain rails and damaged windows which they had agreed to sort out and collect. These were due to be investigated by Lisa at Everest and as they have gone into administration what I can only call Sharks.. Creditstyle with no style or empathy, have taken over to try and squeeze as much money as possible from their customers now that Everest has been taken over by Anglian homes and have gone into administration to avoid paying taxes!!!!! There must be some consumer support, consumer rights that we can appeal to to stop and have these companies investigated and stop putting unnecessary stress on the vulnerable and the elderly.
